Chapter 53
Talk
***
Leila was just so happy that whatever fear and pain she felt and experienced in her nightmares flew away. Hunter calmed her heart and mind. And even though she was a bit disappointed that he wasn’t around last night she was glad that she had him right now.
He soothed her troubled heart.
He kissed her pain.
He shielded her from melancholy.
She was humming as she walked towards the kitchen. She didn’t want to entertain the negative and lonely thoughts about her nightmares.
Well, at least for now.
She simply wanted to prepare breakfast for Hunter.
Leila decided to prepare a fast and easily cooked meal yet delicious and healthy.
It was a good thing that she didn’t cook some of the meat the hunters had yesterday. Well, she wanted to but Myrtle had a better plan, just in case the two couldn’t join them at dinner. And she guessed it right.
Perhaps, it wasn’t the first time that Hector ditched her. It seemed like she knew that it might happen. And it did. However, it was a miracle that she wasn’t that disheartened anymore.
But then, she still had to talk to Hunter later.
She wanted to tell him that it was not a good thing to let her hope for something that he promised to do. Being disappointed is not a good feeling anyway. So, they had to communicate about it.
And besides, she also wanted to better understand him.
It was one of the things that she learned from her grandparents, parents, and to Myrtle. And it always worked out anyway.
She didn’t want to lose Hunter. And she wanted their relationship to grow and be better. She smiled at how far her thoughts were already.
Leila busied herself in cooking. She cooked beef and veggie frittata, chicken and spinach skillet pasta, and breakfast vegetable miso soup with chickpeas.
The rice and the bread were also ready.
She also had prepared strawberry parfait and had put it in the fridge for the meantime.
Leila was dancing as she cooked the last food she wanted to serve, the spinach-mushroom scrambled egg omelet, when she felt some arms suddenly hugged her waist.
Her lips instantly curled into a smile as she was certain of who it was.
Just with his smell Leila knew that it was Hunter.
And she was right.
“You can still sleep some more.” She teased him smilingly.
But he just planted a soft kiss in her head.
“I can’t sleep. So, I decided to help you.” Hunter whispered near her ear.
Her stretched more for a wider smile.
Hunter is just so sweet.
‘My goodness! It is still early and yet he is like this. I don’t think I could get enough of him.’ She mentally commented as she bit her lower lip.
He pulled his body away from her for a bit, but he was still holding her waist. He smiled at her. His eyes were twinkling so that she couldn’t stop herself from looking at it then gave her a light kiss on her lips.
The kiss was soft yet enticing.
Hunter was about to give her another when someone cleared his throat.
She swallowed the lump in her throat as they both looked at whoever had meddled at their moment.
However, it was Myrtle and Hector who were grinning from ear to ear. They were looking at them teasingly that she instantly pushed Hunter away.
“What a morning…” Hector commented as he walked out of the kitchen.
Myrtle was also smiling at them and greeted them.
“Good morning. I think you don’t need help anymore. You can resume that later, I am starving.” She stated smilingly then, winked at her before following her husband to the dining area.
Hunter let out a deep sigh like he wanted them to stay there but they have to start preparing the table.
She gave him a swift kiss on the lips.
“Come on, let’s just talk later. Okay?” Leila smiled sweetly at him.
That made him smile, too.
They have a peaceful and happy breakfast together with Myrtle and Hector. Well, a bit peaceful of not for the playful remarks at them. It seemed like the two loved to tease them.
After eating, Hector excused himself and Hunter for a bit.
They had to talk about something important, so she told Hunter to go out with him. Besides, she said that she also has to help Myrtle in washing the dishes.
“Your stomach is growing. You shouldn’t be moving.” Leila commented after washing the dishes and while they were having some tea.
They were looking at the two men talking a few meters away from them.
It seemed like they were talking about something serious that it reflected their expressions.
Myrtle smiled at her gently as she looked at her.
“I should just be careful. I will be bored to death if I won’t do anything. Besides, the salutary wolf said that it is better to move every now and then.” Myrtle replied softly.
She smiled at her and nodded her head in agreement.
“Did the two of you talked already?” She inquired curiously.
But she just shook her head.
Then, she smiled a bit.
“Not yet, but I am planning to. Maybe later.” She said as she took a swift glance at the two men.
Myrtle seemed to understand.
“What are they are up to, anyway?” She asked all of a sudden like it wasn’t her intention to say it loudly, but she did.
Myrtle let out a deep sigh as she looked at the two men she was staring at.
“I bet it is about the pack. They have the sole responsibility of it anyway. Especially that their parents are still not here.” She replied back at her unintentional question.
She didn’t want to act so nosy so she didn’t ask for more.
And it seemed like Myrtle also didn’t want to talk more about it, so she respected it.
Then, she realized about Hunter’s parents.
There was a bit of worry in her heart and mind.
‘Why didn’t I think about them anyway? I just hope that they will like me.’ She mentally stated as she bit her lower lip.
“Uhm…” Leila mumbled unsure of what to say.
Myrtle looked at her.
“A-Are they… Are they k-kind?” She asked shyly.
Myrtle’s forehead creased. Then, she smiled at her.
“Are you talking about their parents?” She guessed playfully.
She nodded a bit nervous.
And when Myrtle nodded her head that made her breath heavily. She was hoping silently that they would support her relationship with Hunter.
Because family… their opinion is important to her. Especially that she was close to her family.
Then, she thought that she wanted to introduce Hunter to her mother and Darcel.
‘Maybe, soon…’ She mentally smiled at that.
