“Can you just smile and extend your patience at me?”
For the nth time, Leila said like a slip of the tongue.
“Can you just focus on your training?” Hunter retorted back as he leaned on the huge tree near him.
Her left brow shot upwards.
“If I have shifted to my inner wolf would you smiled for me?” Leila smilingly inquired.
There was hint of friskiness in her voice.
Hunter swallowed hard and let out a deep sigh.
“That might be the reason why your inner wolf wouldn’t come out. You are so out of focus.” Hunter commented harshly causing her to be taken aback.
It seemed like what she had been thinking was leading her to a painful way.
She couldn’t believe that she was slowly being eaten by jealousy and agony inside her. It was as if for the first time in her life, she wanted to have the courage to let Hunter see how vulnerable she was right now.
His harsh words were just too painful to accept. And it was rooting deeply inside her chest. Leila didn’t know what else to say after being fired by those words.
It was already sunset and yet, she still couldn’t summon her inner wolf. She couldn’t understand why Silver wasn’t talking to her.
Hunter shot her a deadly glare but she didn’t even budge. In fact, she battled him with the same intense glare. Then, Hunter let out a deep sigh.
“Why are you so annoyed around me?” Leila asked all of a sudden causing Hunter to look at her.
She didn’t even see the shock that reflected his face because she was looking at the vast forest in front of them.
They were taking a break and she didn’t know why she suddenly felt like she had to tell him about her feelings.
“We have to go…” Hunter said all of a sudden as he stood up.
“Myrtle might be at home alone.” He continued causing her to feel a bit of hurt and jealousy.
Leila let out a deep sigh and without any more words to say, she walked back towards the mansion.
Fine.
She felt so jealous of Myrtle and she knew that she shouldn’t feel that way.
Myrtle didn’t intend to make Hunter fall for her. She is already married for goodness’ sake and she is also pregnant already!
Leila wouldn’t want to blame her she had been so kind to her.
She knew that she also supported her but then, Hunter… He is still… He is in love with Myrtle.
Leila knew about that the very moment she first entered the Moon Howlers Pack community.
And she isn’t blind not to see how Hunter looked at Myrtle, although it was kind of hurting her.
Perhaps, she had to let go.
Maybe Hunter really didn’t like her a bit.
And it took her a lot of effort to finally let go that Hunter’s heart… would never be hers.
That night, she decided to make a move.
She wouldn’t wait to fall for Hunter a little more… She had to stay away from him… So, she had the courage to talk to Hector and Myrtle that night.
“What do you want to talk about?” Hector fired at her straight to the point.
Typical Hector.
Myrtle gave her husband a warning glare which made Hector let out a deep sigh.
“C-Can… Can I request s-someone else to t-train me?” She stated after gathering all her guts to say those words.
Hector’s forehead creased.
At that time, she knew that she was already asking for a miracle.
She knew that Hector wouldn’t accept her suggestion.
However, she was still trying to gamble.
“And why is that?” Hector asked.
Curiosity was dripping into his words.
And there was something in the way he looked at her like he was trying to read her mind.
Leila looked away as she tried to sort out her thoughts.
She was talking about her heart and peace. She didn’t want to bet on something that she knew would be futile.
‘So, you will let Hunter be like that? You know Myrtle is already married, right?’ A part of her mind commented.
That thought caught her off guard.
For all she knew, she didn’t really even try fighting her feelings for Hunter.
She simply just gave him up without a fight.
Leila swallowed hard and was about to take back her words when Myrtle suddenly spoke.
“I think it is a great idea. Baxon is already asking me to train Leila. I think it will be a better idea. Besides, Baxon is very friendly and patient. I think Leila can be at ease being with him.” Myrtle said all of a sudden causing her husband to look at her.
Hector was hesitant.
“Baxon? That man…” He uttered like he was weighing down his decision.
Then, Myrtle stared at her like she was telling her to trust her on this.
Leila kept her mouth shut.
She didn’t know what else to feel.
This time, she was torn whether to let Hunter go just like that. She didn’t know why she felt so guilty for choosing her selfish reason for not feeling hurt than to have the courage to fight for what she truly feels.
“Would you take Baxon to be your new training partner, then, Leila?” Myrtle asked as if she was trying to give her the chance to decide on her own.
Leila let out a deep sigh.
This time, she didn’t know what to say.
It was as if she had doubted the reason why she was there in the first place.
“I think it is better. You can have a new training partner, then.” Hector suddenly blurted out.
Then, a familiar voice suddenly resonated behind her causing her to feel like all the blood in her face vanished in a snap.
“Who is getting a new training partner?”
Hunter’s booming voice resonated in the room.
Leila swallowed hard as she heard a glint of anger laced in his voice as he uttered those words.
“It’s Leila… Starting tomorrow, Baxon will be her new training partner. You can do what you want to do now… You are free…” Hector answered at his question but there was a hint of amusement in his voice.
And Leila didn’t know why that was.
Especially why is Hunter glaring at her like he wanted to strangle her.
Isn’t this decision good for him?
He could be free already like what his brother told him.
And no matter how much she tried to be happy since this was all her idea, she couldn’t even smile at him.
