Chapter 41
In Love
***
“What the hell!” Hunter uttered in furious way.
Leila let out a deep sigh.
“If there was nothing else to say, I will go now.” Leila said weakly before turning her back at them.
However, before she could even take a single step a warm and huge hand already stopped her.
Volts of electricity instantly attacked her senses causing her to swallow hard.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Hunter snapped at her causing her forehead to crease.
Her mouth slightly dropped when she heard him say those words. Even though his eyes were directed to where his brother was, Leila could sense the emerging tension in the air.
“Answer me, Hector. What is the meaning of that? I am Leila’s training partner.” Hunter said those words dripping with annoyance and possessiveness.
Her breathing hitched.
She couldn’t believe that she could sense possessiveness in the way Hunter says those words.
Or was she just hallucinating?
Yes.
There could be no way that Hunter would say those words laced with possessiveness.
That is impossible!
With that thought in mind Leila felt like her decision was right.
“Would it be more convenient to you?” She uttered coldly as she pulled her arm from his grip.
Hunter gave her a deadly glare but she didn’t falter.
Besides, she was so confused right now.
There were a lot of things that were happening to her life and having Hunter making her more confused was not helping her at all.
Not to mention, he was harsh to her and he had his eyes laid only to Myrtle.
She bid her goodbye to Hector and Myrtle and continued walking out of the room.
However, she was about to open her door when someone stopped her.
And for the second time, she felt like she was being electrocuted so she instantly pulled her hand away from him.
“What the-”
“What the heck are you thinking?” It was Hunter again.
She didn’t know why he had to follow her there but perhaps, it was because of the fact that his ego might have been bruised.
But whatever his reason was she was trying to give herself a break. She couldn’t be stagnant all her life. She must be strong and that only meant one thing, she had to stop being with Hunter.
Although her heart was screaming not to.
Leila let out a deep sigh.
“Starting tomorrow, Baxon will be my new training partner.” Leila declared.
Her voice was laced with exhaustion and coldness causing Hunter to look at her with his forehead creased.
It was as if he was trying to read her mind trying to weigh down her decision.
Then, his face darkened.
“Oh, no, you won’t do that.” Hunter mockingly stated.
However, that made Leila feel like he was mocking her.
So, she seriously looked at him.
“And why is that?” She challenged him.
Her face was cold and stoic.
Hunter smirked at her smugly.
“Because I am your training partner.” Hunter said as a matter of fact.
Leila gritted her teeth.
She didn’t know where his sudden conceitedness came from, but it was annoying her.
“You are the worst training partner, Hunter.” She uttered in pure irritation.
This time, she saw Hunter’s shocked expression.
And for the first time, she saw a glint of humane expression from him.
It wasn’t as if she couldn’t see his humanness but it was because she wanted to see that it wasn’t just her, who was hurting while they were together… in that particular situation.
“You are impatient. You always say nasty things to me. You are rude and short-tempered. In short, you can’t stand being with me. And I can’t do that. Not when I am just beginning to fit in in your world.” Leila explained seriously.
This time, Hunter was dumbfounded by her words.
He couldn’t even utter a single word.
But then, Leila couldn’t believe that she had been keeping her real emotions all to herself.
It might be true that Myrtle was there for her. She could tell her some things that she couldn’t tell anyone.
However, she knew that for the past few days after she turned into a werewolf, she had been insensitive towards her.
She is pregnant.
And she couldn’t tell her straight in the eyes that Hunter is in love with her and it was hurting her already.
She couldn’t do it to her.
And now, it seemed like everything piled up inside her chest already.
However, she didn’t know why she was being so vulnerable towards Hunter now.
“You always see the worst in me… My flaws… My shortcomings… And I am already reached my limit, Hunter.” Leila uttered weakly.
His lips parted at that.
“I…” Hunter tried to say a word but he was just so shocked to even continue his words.
Leila smiled at him.
This time, her eyes were filled with unshed tears.
Perhaps, this was better.
Besides, Hunter wouldn’t be her training partner starting tomorrow anyway. She could easily hide from him stop herself from getting near him.
Leila took a deep breath.
She didn’t know why she suddenly had the urge to tell her what she truly feels.
Maybe because she heard once that in order to let go the emotions you have inside you have to let it go… You have to say it.
And for a minute, she thought that it might be right.
She would confess and let Hunter decide.
This time, she wouldn’t be a coward to run with guilt inside her heart.
Leila swallowed hard.
“And it is just so painful… for me… Because I… I am falling for you, Hunter. I do… Even though I know that you won’t reciprocate my feelings for you.” Leila finally revealed as her tears were trying to escape from her eyes, but she doesn’t want to let them go.
She clenched her hands into balled fists as she counted from one to five inside her head.
But…
‘Three… Two… One…’
Even after she finished counting trying to make it slower than usual, she couldn’t hear anything from Hunter.
He was just staring at her like he couldn’t believe what he just heard.
“I love you, Hunter… But I think this is g-goodbye… Please don’t be my training partner anymore. For our goodness’ sake…” She said with her trembling voice before she found the courage to open her door and went inside it.
The moment her door was closed, her tears fell as she felt like her heart was breaking into pieces.
For a short while, she thought that Hunter would stop her… That he would tell her that she is important to him… That his concerns and worry meant a lot because he cares for her so much…
‘Damn it, Leila! You are just torturing yourself… Stop being so delusional! He is in love with Myrtle and you can’t change that fact. He is worried since he brought you here and made you into a wolf to save you… That’s it. He thinks that you are his responsibility.’ Those were such a harsh word to hear but unfortunately, it was giving her some sense.
And no matter how much she tried to convince herself that it wasn’t the case she couldn’t because she knew that all her thoughts were right.
If not, why Hunter didn’t even try to stop her?
With all of those thoughts, she felt her endless tears falling from her eyes.
She just hoped that Silver would talk to her already.
