I walked into the college gate. The compound was quite empty as there were only a few students that had arrived yet, mainly from my level.
It was Wednesday morning and Mr Scott will be handling us on advanced mathematics. How I hate that course, it’s so difficult.
The college I attend was of average quality, it wasn’t the best in town but it could boast of producing well mannered and educated graduates.
They didn’t have many departments or study many courses, although it had been improving ever since Logan bought a share of it.
I am sure he has invested quite a fortune in it; they are now building new halls for new disciplines, employing more experienced lecturers and at the same time getting more prominent in the city.
A few months from now, I have no doubt that this college will be one of the most prestigious colleges in California as a whole.
I walked past the neatly trimmed flowers and went into the long hallway.
I don’t know why our class had to be the last one on the block. Oh, maybe because it’s the final level before graduation.
I can’t believe that in a few months, I will be a graduate. It was not an easy journey at all as I had to go through a lot, but I am happy that it is almost over.
Once I am through with college, I would find a decent job so I can take care of myself and my son. I will make sure Aidan does not lack anything, not food, not shelter, not closing and not a real motherly love which I never experienced.
Yeah my step mother was there for me, but no matter how hard she tried to be nice, she could not succeed in filling the void in my heart.
That very hole had been created since the day my parents sent me to live with my step parents.
Was it just because I didn’t have a wolf?
I don’t think so. I was still young then so how were they certain that I did not have one?
What if it had not awakened by that time?
I don’t think that was the reason why my parents sent me to live with Mom-two.
Maybe it’s because they were childless, but then my parents only had me, so sending me away would also make them look childless.
Was I a liability to them?

I got to my classroom and walked to my desk in thought. Subconsciously, I could see that the lecturer wasn’t there yet, just a few of my jealous classmates.
Many of them had stopped talking to me ever since the day I announced that I was Logan’s girlfriend, they had become envious of me not knowing that I was nothing more than his personal maid. How hilarious!
It is still surprising that Logan had not discovered the little stunt I played till today.
So no one had asked him? Or maybe he had found out and decided to keep the matter incognito.
Either way, I’m glad that he did not mention it or it would have been an embarrassing scene for me.
I opened my locker in search of my textbook when Mr Scott walked in. He was a short man of 4’8 or maybe a little taller than that.
He had a potbelly that earned him a nickname which I find too hilarious to pronounce, but no one called him that to his face, it was only used behind his back as he was known for his strictness.
He had failed so many students in the past years and made them reseat the course.
Some people despised him while others thought of him as a strict 21st century standard lecturer.
As for me, I just sat on the fence and tried not to get in his bad book even though I found his cause difficult.
“Good morning class,” Mr Scott greeted
Some answered cheerfully, a few others mumbled a grumbling reply while the rest decided to keep me mute. I was among the last category.
Like I said, sitting on the fence is how I roll.
“So today, we will be dealing with the topic of Trigonometric Functions!”
What? But we had done that course in my first year, why is he bringing it back for goodness sake? I’m not in good terms with those angles, they frustrate me doing calculations.
I thought I was the only unhappy one until I looked around and saw other students murmuring.
“Now what’s all that noise about?” Mr Scott asked.
His voice was calm but if you know him too well, then you would also know that he was angry right now.
“Sir, we have dealt with this course in our first year. Why do we have to learn it again?” One of the girls, whom I consider courageous, asked Mr Scott in a grumble.
Mr Scott chuckled. You should be scared whenever he chuckles, it means he is about to do something drastic.
He then went closer to the girl.
“So you have done it before and you think I don’t know that huh? I saw your grades, no one in this class made a B, talk more of an A and you want to move on? Before you move on in life, you have to deal with the current situation first!”
It felt like that advice was meant for me. It was saved at the bottom of my heart the moment he said it and he was damn right.
How could I be planning to move on when I haven’t dealt with the situation at hand?
Right now, I wasn’t thinking about my school issues, I was thinking about my personal life which revolved around Logan and Aidan.
I should take care of that mess once and for all, but how do I do it?
“So if you guys insist that you have learnt it and you don’t want a revision on it, then one of you has to answer my question. Note that if you get it then we would move to another topic but if no one is able to answer it, then you would all automatically fail this course and carry it over next year, not even the principal can say a thing about it.”
Now I was starting to get scared. I can’t afford to repeat this course again next year, so why did she have to speak up?
She had put us all in trouble.
“Your question is very simple and if you are caught searching the internet or any other form of malpractice, then you would fail this course!”
It was at this point that I understood why this man is called the pot-bellied devil, he was indeed evil!
“Your question is…”
He was suddenly interrupted by the presence of the principal and I breathed in relief, at least for the moment.
“Hi guys, welcome your new classmate… Michael McQueen!” The principal announced.
I looked up and was surprised with who I saw. The new student was Michael, the vampire that had saved my life last night.
I remember he actually mentioned he was joining a new school but I never imagined it would be the same school I attended, and the same final level.
I am happy to know that I have a new friend in my class, too bad he came at the wrong time.
We are all about to reseat a course by this pot-bellied devil!!
To be continued!!
