Rosalind was taken aback by Rebecca’s words.
She never expected Rebecca to urge her to remarry Ulric.
She chuckled, “Let’s talk about it when Ulric’s wounds heal.”
“Once his stitches are removed, he’ll be fine. The injury won’t stop you from registering your marriage.”
Rosalind instinctively glanced at Ulric.
It felt like they had discussed something earlier. Otherwise, Rebecca wouldn’t bring up this matter all of a sudden.
Though Rebecca had often expressed admiration for her relationship with Ulric, they weren’t close enough for her to directly push for marriage.
Ulric met her gaze, his expression honest and innocent.
He didn’t seem to have conspired with Rebecca.
“We plan to be cautious. Thank you, Dr. Stewart,” Rosalind quickly ushered her out since she didn’t know how to respond.
“Alright, I’m leaving.”
Rebecca tucked her hands into the pockets of her white coat, smiled, and turned to leave.
Rosalind suddenly realized that Rebecca hadn’t used the medication she had just retrieved from her office. So, what was the point of sending her to get it?
She thought she would need it for Ulric’s treatment.
While she was pondering, Ulric reached out and pulled her into his embrace.
Lately, he loved holding Rosalind close, his arms restraining her to prevent her escape.
“How do you plan to be cautious? Tell me.”
“At the very least, we shouldn’t rush into getting a marriage certificate.”
Rebecca had left, but clearly, Ulric wasn’t ready to end this topic.
“We already have a son and daughter, and you call this rushing?” Ulric had been planning this for over ten years, how could this be considered rushing?
Rosalind was afraid of touching his newly stitched wound, so she didn’t dare struggle too much, and could only gently say, “Ulric… Ulric, let me go first.”
“Promise to marry me, and I’ll let you go.”
“You’re so childish,” Rosalind sighed helplessly. “We’ve already been divorced once. This time, I need to think carefully. When I have an answer, I’ll tell you. Don’t force me to make a decision.”
Feeling Ulric’s arms gradually loosen, Rosalind moved away from his embrace.
She changed the subject. “Are you hungry? I don’t want toast for breakfast today. I wonder if the chef can make porridge. I’ll go ask.”
She was making excuses to leave, and Ulric could see right through it.
Thinking of Rebecca’s words earlier, he picked up his phone and messaged Caesar.
“I won’t marry anyone except Rosalind.”
The reply came quickly.
“Did Rebecca come to you? Ulric, I won’t force you to agree like your mother would, but I think Rebecca is quite good. She’s skilled in medicine, knows how to take care of people, and has a gentle temperament. Don’t rush to say no-the Stewart family needs something from me, and they’d be willing to give away their only daughter.”
In the business world, the daughters of wealthy families had almost become commodities in the eyes of many! They often claimed that their primary concern was their daughters’ happiness, but in reality, it was clear that they cared little about whom their daughters married or what kind of life they would lead after the wedding. Their focus was solely on profit and advantageous alliances.
Ulric felt he would have been better off not sending that message.
However, from his father’s tone, it seemed he also knew that Rosalind would eventually leave! That was why he only suggested he hold off on outright rejecting the marriage with Rebecca.
As if afraid of further damaging his relationship with his son, Caesar quickly sent another message, “About your desire to avenge Rosalind, your mother and I have discussed it. She has agreed to hand Sirena over to you to deal with as you see fit.”
