Chapter 657: I Saved Your Life

Book:Wrong Invitation For My Mr Right Published:2025-3-13

The last time when Rebecca was forced to go back, she thought it was for a blind date. However, her parents informed her that she was to marry Ulric!
She was, of course, opposed to it.
During her time at the hospital, she saw how much Ulric loved Rosalind!
Agreeing to marry Ulric would be akin to being the other woman.
She wasn’t that desperate.
However, in the business world, it was survival of the fittest. The Stewart family didn’t have the power to oppose the Walters family, and they had no choice. Rebecca’s father and Caesar were old acquaintances. Not long ago, Caesar proposed a marriage alliance in a condescending manner. If the Stewart family refused, the relationship between the two families could turn sour instantly.
Moreover…
The main issue was that Rebecca was not valued at home.
The Stewart family favored sons over daughters.
She accepted this reality and didn’t seek to fight for any inheritance. Instead, she thought that with a male heir to inherit the family business, she could study medicine and do something she enjoyed.
But unexpectedly, the Stewart family found a use for her.
“I can’t marry you.”
Ulric’s response was brief, leaving no room for negotiation. He didn’t even look up at her.
“I know.” Rebecca pressed her lips together, finding it hard to speak.
“So can you persuade Uncle Caesar to give up on this marriage of convenience? Our family really has no say in front of the Walters family.”
In fact, before Ulric and Rosalind returned home, she wanted to speak with him alone but held back.
She hoped that perhaps after their return, the Walters family might change their minds.
But just before she came to change Ulric’s dressing, her father called again.
The gist was that Rebecca should use any means necessary to get Ulric to agree to this marriage. The Stewart family could then rise quickly with the support from the Walters family! He even warned her not to mess things up and reminded her that after all these years of raising her, she should contribute something to the Stewart family.
Feeling cornered, she sent Rosalind away and spoke with Ulric alone.
Seeing Ulric remain silent and clearly uninterested in engaging with her, Rebecca bit her lower lip resolutely. “I saved your life. I’m just hoping you can help me out of this situation. You don’t have to be so heartless, right?”
Ulric finally looked up at her but remained expressionless.
“I told you, I won’t marry you.”
This marriage was never going to happen. She didn’t need to worry about it.
“Then can you at least persuade Uncle Caesar to talk to my dad?”
Rebecca knew Ulric wouldn’t marry her but couldn’t withstand the pressure from her family. She could only hope Ulric would help her out.
“Once I remarry Rosalind, he’ll naturally give up on the idea.”
Ulric knew communicating with his father wouldn’t work.
Just like when they tried to set Sirena up with him before.
He could refuse and not comply but couldn’t control his parents’ actions.
Rebecca understood what he meant and nodded. “Then hurry up and remarry Rosalind. It’s best if you get the marriage certificate this month.”
Ulric gave a faint smile.
He wanted that too.
When Rosalind returned, their conversation had ended.
The ward returned to its previous quietness.
“Dr. Stewart, is this the right medication?”
Rebecca brought it over and nodded. “Yes! Thank you.”
“It’s no trouble.” Rosalind smiled and then turned her gaze to Ulric’s wound.
With the stitches freshly removed, there was some bleeding. The centipede-like scar looked alarming.
Rosalind felt a pang in her heart because this injury was taken for her sake.
Rebecca noticed her expression and gently said, “Ms. Ruell, Mr. Walters is so good to you. You two should get back together soon.”
