It wouldn’t be long before her good friend would be the enemy of W Group.
How awkward would it be when Tilda worked at W Group then?
Just at that moment, Rosalind called, and they arranged a place to have dinner.
Thinking the call was a good distraction, she hung up only to find Johnny still looking puzzled, waiting for an explanation.
“I want to take some time to improve myself, rather than relying on connections to get into W Group.”
“Excuses, all excuses!”
“Then why ask if you already know?”
Johnny hadn’t expected her response and was taken aback.
Tilda tossed him the car keys. “Let’s go. Rosalind and Ulric are heading to the restaurant.”
…
After this meal, Ulric and Rosalind planned to return to Sweden.
Ulric’s injury still needed rest, and once back, Dr. Stewart would need to check on its healing. Besides, when Rosalind left, she preferred to depart directly from Sweden.
She simply didn’t want to part with Ulric in Northville City.
Unaware of this, Ulric had Cedric book their flights in advance, including tickets for Floyd and Jake.
The night before leaving, Ulric received a call from Caesar.
“I saw the names of the two children-Floyd Ruell and Jake Ruell. What is this?! Change their surname immediately! How can the children of the Walters family bear the surname ‘Ruell’?”
“They’re Rosalind’s children-why can’t they?”
“You- Are you trying to drive me mad?” Caesar’s voice was full of displeasure. “You used to be such a good child, obedient and sensible. How did you end up like this?”
Ulric glanced upstairs at Rosalind who was playing joyfully with the children, and frowned slightly.
“If you want the children to change their surname, I have conditions.”
“They’re the Walters by right. Why should there be conditions?” Caesar snorted coldly, “Is it Rosalind who told you this?”
“She didn’t say anything. It’s my decision.”
Caesar paused and said, “Then tell me what conditions you want to set with your father.”
Ulric sat on the sofa, his long legs crossed, his voice calm and deep. “I want you to hand over Sirena to me, for me to deal with as I see fit.”
Caesar fell silent.
“If you can’t agree, then my son and daughter will always bear the surname ‘Ruell’. Without my consent, no matter how capable you are, you can’t change their surname.”
Caesar hadn’t expected such a demand.
He thought his son might ask for something like being with Rosalind forever or having them agree to marry her.
“This matter is up to your mother. I can’t make that decision.”
“My mother protects Sirena only because Sirena saved her back then. I’ve already repaid Sirena with a life. We’re even now.”
“If that’s so, why do you still want to deal with her?”
Ulric’s lips parted slightly. “Her debt with the Walters family is settled, but her harm towards Rosalind’s mother is not over.”
At the mention of Rosalind’s mother, Caesar’s voice noticeably softened.
But he still tried to maintain composure.
“I investigated. Rosalind’s mother died of a heart attack. How can that be blamed on Sirena? At most, she said some provocative words. Even if this went to court, Sirena wouldn’t be guilty of anything that severe.”
“Whether she’s guilty or not is for Rosalind to decide.”
