Cedric was caught in the middle and felt truly uneasy.
“Ulric isn’t answering his phone.”
“Then you can call him a few more times…”
Rosalind frowned. “Alright, I got it.”
She hung up the phone, then found Ulric on WhatsApp and sent a message.
“Call me back or you’ll never see me again!”
Sure enough, within a minute of sending the WhatsApp message, Ulric called her back.
As she answered, she approached the door of the CEO’s office and entered the password.
WR0825.
With a beep, the door unlocked.
Sure enough, the code for his office was also WR0825.
On the other end of the line, Ulric’s deep, hoarse voice came through. “You entered my office?”
“Yes,” Rosalind didn’t bother to hide it. “Didn’t you go to work at the company? Why did you have Cedric keep it from me? What exactly are you doing?”
“Do you care?”
“Of course I do!”
Rosalind was somewhat angry.
She thought Ulric would never lie to her.
“I’m coming to find you.”
Ulric didn’t say where he was.
But Rosalind was determined. “No, I’ll come to you! Tell me where you are.”
“You wouldn’t want to know.”
“I want to know! Ulric, you’d better think carefully before speaking to me!”
There was silence on the other end of the line for a few seconds before he sighed deeply.
“I’m at the cemetery.”
“What?!”
“I’m outside the cemetery. I didn’t go in. Don’t worry. I didn’t disturb your mother.”

By the time Rosalind drove to the cemetery, it was already getting dark.
She thought Ulric and Cedric were together. But when she arrived, she realized Cedric had noticed something off with his boss and insisted on sitting in his car while watching him from afar.
Getting out of her car, Rosalind ran towards Ulric.
He stood right at the cemetery gate and indeed didn’t go in.
There were many cigarette butts at his feet. It was impossible to count how many he had smoked. As she got closer, the strong smell of smoke hit her.
Hearing her approach, Ulric turned to look at her and forced a smile. When he spoke, his voice was so dry.
“I’ve just been standing here. There’s no woman with me.”
Rosalind sighed, “I wasn’t suspecting anything.”
She tried to get closer, but Ulric stepped back. “I smell like smoke.”
“You know that, yet you still smoked so much? Ulric, you’re still injured! Do you want lung cancer?”
He gave a bitter smile. “Not that bad yet.”
“Let’s go home, okay?” Rosalind didn’t want to stand in such a place late at night.
Ulric nodded and then said, “I’ll have Cedric drive you home first. I’ll follow behind.”
“Are you throwing a tantrum?” Rosalind pursed her lips and stubbornly walked over to grab his arm. “Is it because I didn’t take you to pay respects to my mother?”
“Rosalind,” Ulric said in a deep voice.
She thought he was going to explain to her, so she looked up at him expectantly.
But all she got was a sigh. “Let’s just go home first.”
“You owe me an explanation!”
“There’s nothing much to explain. I just came here for a look.”
“Ulric!”
He pressed his lips together and took off his jacket, draping it over Rosalind’s shoulders. “It’s getting windy. Let’s go home. I’ll help you ice your ankle.”
