Jaquan sneered, “I don’t care how you lost that shipment. If you want to save Lucia, you must return it to me.”
It seemed that shipment was crucial.
Callie listened while thinking. The vehicle was locked, and the windows were soundproof. Nelson couldn’t hear her. She examined everything inside the car, trying to find a flaw.
“Jaquan, you misunderstood,” Nelson said with a deep gaze. “I didn’t report it.”
Jaquan’s patience was running out. “Even if it wasn’t you, there have been multiple reports.”
Nelson was silent for a few seconds. “At most, I can make the leads disappear, but I can’t get the shipment back.”
Those harmful items could cost him several lives in court. Even with Nelson’s connections, he couldn’t make the police return them.
Callie’s hands were cuffed to the back seat. She struggled to reach the front seat, looking for a communication device but found none. Just as she was about to give up, she touched the car’s built-in navigation system, and the screen lit up.
Her eyes brightened. This was the advantage of a good car; it had the best navigation system.
She searched and found the dialing function.
Jaquan squinted his eyes. “To get this far, you still talk about loyalty with me.”
Nelson understood and signaled Anthony, who handed him a phone.
He dialed a number in front of Jaquan and spoke briefly before hanging up.
He spread his hands. “Jaquan, this matter won’t be traced back to you.”
With his goal achieved, Jaquan relaxed slightly but remained cautious. He reached out, and a bodyguard handed him a pack of cigarettes. He took out two and walked step by step to Nelson.
Kieran immediately stepped forward to block him.
Jaquan gently pushed him aside. “I knew your boss before you even existed.”
Kieran stepped back a few paces.
“Nelson,” Jaquan said, holding out a black cigarette. “I’ll come to your wedding on the fifteenth for a drink.”
Nelson took the cigarette, his lips curling slightly. “I thought with today’s setup, you wanted to exchange something more interesting with me.”
Jaquan understood and laughed along. “Playing against you, I know my limits.”
Nelson’s eyes were as dark as the night, revealing nothing of his thoughts. His gaze fell on Jaquan’s car.
At that moment, a loud noise came from inside the car. A bodyguard shouted in alarm. Just as Jaquan was about to react, a black bullet whizzed past his ear.
His pupils dilated.
The two men exchanged glances and moved simultaneously.
Nelson’s long fingers pressed on Jaquan’s shoulder, flipping him over. Jaquan quickly countered, sweeping his leg to free himself. He pulled out a black gun from his waistband and loaded it swiftly. “Nelson! You brought the police!”
Around the port, countless plainclothes officers were hidden. Jaquan’s men each held a gun, watching their surroundings warily.
Jaquan’s eyes were filled with hatred as he looked at Nelson. No wonder he dared to come alone!
He had been waiting for him here.
Nelson stood some distance away, his brows furrowed as he scanned the area and angrily asked, “Who called them?”
Kieran and Mikayla exchanged glances. “Not us!”
The appearance of the police startled Jaquan. He took a step back, pointing his gun at Nelson. At that moment, another figure appeared with a gun, moving professionally. “Jaquan, it’s not too late to put down your gun now!”
The face came into view; it was Malachi!
