“What is it?” Nelson’s face was dark, not even glancing at Lucia.
“The item is gone. It’s more important than money. I can only have her pay with her life.” Jaquan threw his cigarette butt on the ground and stomped it out.
Nelson understood and smiled faintly. “That’s perfect. She’s caused me a lot of trouble over the years. Please clean it up for me, and leave no traces.”
This made Callie smile; it was his style.
Jaquan’s expression remained calm as he revealed his trump card. “Admit it, Nelson. If you didn’t care, you wouldn’t have come here personally at this time.”
He glanced behind Nelson, noting he had brought neither bodyguards nor anyone else, just a driver and a secretary.
Nelson made no comment. “I just wanted to see how far you could go. For you, dealing with a person is easy. I’m here to witness.”
He stood still, the sea breeze lifting the strands of hair on his forehead, showing no trace of pity or concern, only cold indifference.
This made Jaquan frown slightly. He turned his head a bit. “No matter what, she is your mother. Blood ties are here. Can you really commit matricide?”
Nelson raised his hands above his ears. “I didn’t do it.”
Lucia watched everything, shouting anxiously, “Nelson! You can’t leave me! I am your mother!”
She lay on the ground in disarray, devoid of her usual superiority.
Nelson finally glanced at her, his eyes filled with coldness. “When you left back then, I begged you not to abandon me just like today.”
In the long gaze, Lucia froze, recalling the past. She showed a trace of guilt. “I… I was desperate to escape the Oconnor family back then, so I didn’t take you with me… Later, I wanted to come back for you, but many things happened.”
Her words were grandiose and contemptible.
“You didn’t just want to escape the Oconnor family; you wanted to escape me. As long as I was around, you would think of Father every day. You loathed me, your own son.”
Nelson’s voice was colder than the sea breeze. He paced slowly, stating calmly, “No, you had another son with someone else. Not only did you not hate him, but you also spoiled him.”
“But today, why isn’t he here?”
The crisp sound of leather shoes on the ground was like a countdown to life. Lucia trembled all over.
She suddenly pushed away the thug beside her and crawled towards Nelson on her knees. She grabbed his pant leg and pleaded, “Nelson, it’s my fault, all my fault. Give me a chance to make it up to you. Save me, and I’ll give you what you want!”
Her words were fast and urgent, spoken in a low voice as if afraid someone might hear.
Jaquan was the kind of person who would definitely kill her if he said so!
Nelson looked down at her.
Jaquan grew tired of the scene. “No need to act out mother-son affection for me, Nelson. Are you going to save her or not?”
Nelson raised his eyes indifferently. “What do you want?”
Finally, Jaquan heard the question he wanted.
“The batch of goods intercepted at the border, return it to me intact.”
Amidst the sound of waves crashing against rocks, Nelson kicked Lucia aside with some force and turned slightly. “Jaquan, that batch was seized by foreign police. Even with my abilities, I can’t make them give it back.”
It was a very reasonable statement.
