Roxanne’s POV:
“Everything should be perfect before they walk in,” I mind-linked my mother.
“Of course, everything is set. We didn’t take five days to prepare for nothing, you know,” she responded, then looked at herself with a frown plastered on her face.
“Do I look okay?” she asked.
I was about to answer when I saw my father move closer and kiss her head lightly, making her turn to look at him.
“You have always been sexy, Amelia, and why are you asking her when there is me?” he asked as she playfully hit his shoulder and laughed softly.
He leaned in and whispered something into her ear before pulling back with a smirk. Just looking at them made me so happy and calm. I wished Garren and I would grow up to be just like them.
“Everyone, be ready. They are approaching now!” Angelina said as soon as she walked into the living room.
“Jersey, now,” I ordered as she snapped her fingers and the lights turned off. The room instantly went silent.
We were all waiting for them to walk in.
When the door opened, the lights turned on and beautiful rose petals with sparkles began to float in the air. It was a simple magic trick Jersey agreed to do for them, but it was still breathtaking.
Kyle smiled, then looked up while he raised his hands to touch a few of them.
When Larson walked in behind him, he quickly dropped his hands and composed himself.
“Happy farewell party,” we all said together, then clapped.
Larson smiled and walked to his parents, who were opposite us, and hugged them.
Kyle approached us and quickly embraced both of our parents as they hugged him back happily.
“Roxanne, come here,” he said when he looked at me and extended one of his hands.
I wasted no time rushing to hug them happily.
“Let me look at the two pups before they leave,” Kylie said, then moved her wheelchair towards us.
Kyle quickly pulled back and went to her, kneeling down on one knee beside her.
“Aunty,” he whispered, and then hugged her as she hugged him back.
“Where are they?” Felix’s voice came through, surprising me.
We were so busy, and we thought she would hate seeing Larson. That’s why I chose not to invite her.
She walked in with Lee, Chase, Jeannie, and August.
“Felix, you made it,” Father said at the top of his voice, then quickly went to greet her.
“Of course, why would I miss my nephew’s farewell?” She asked, then kissed his cheek lightly and pulled back.
“Whitney and the rest will be here in a few minutes. When I called her, she said she was at the border,” she said as I looked at my mother.
“Did Father call everyone?” I asked through our mind link.
“If you mean everyone who is in our family, then yes, he did,” she answered through our mind link, then walked to where my father was and began greeting everyone.
I watched as everyone greeted each other with laughter and joy.
Seeing them all here made me think about Garren.
The past few days, I dearly missed him and did my best to call him every day, yet he couldn’t pick up the call. I knew worrying about him was going to make me stressed and get in my way of working hard at the party. That’s why I did everything in my power to make myself busy.
“Are you okay?” Jersey asked when she moved to where I was.
“Yes,” I answered, then forced a smile across my face.
“You look spaced out when you have to greet and welcome everyone,” she whispered.
“I’m sorry, and yes, you are right,” I answered, then walked over to where Felix was and greeted her and everyone she came with cheerfully.
Once I was done, I excused myself and went outside to get some fresh air for just a few minutes.
I was beginning to feel low-spirited, and seeing everyone with their partners wasn’t making things easier for me.
“Pull yourself together,” I whispered to myself, then brushed my hair backwards and smiled.
“Hey,” Larson whispered as he approached me.
I turned and looked at him as he got closer and stood in front of me.
“You always look beautiful when you smile,” he said as my smile faded.
“What do you want, Larson?” I asked coldly.
“What’s with your question? Does it mean I can’t talk to my cousin just because you are mated to some guy?” He asked as I glared at him.
“It’s not some guy, he is part of our family. When you refer to him, please make sure to say his name,” I answered seriously.
He sighed, then shook his head.
“Anyway, I didn’t come outside to talk about him. I wanted to thank you for the beautiful party you prepared and all the plans you came up with. I heard from Angelina how everything was your idea,” he said, then smiled.
I guess I was acting a little too cold towards him. He was still my cousin and my childhood best friend. If he was going to go somewhere for five years, then the least I could do was send him off with a smile.
“You’re welcome,” I answered calmly.
“Also, I wanted to let you know that I will miss you a lot on that side, more than anyone,” he said as I raised my hand, almost hitting his face.
“I don’t want to hear it,” I answered.
He grabbed my hand, then blinked back the forming tears in his eyes.
“If I were wiser, less stupid and selfish, by now you would have been mine. Perhaps I wouldn’t have even agreed to go to the training camp. Roxanne, there is never a day that goes by without me thinking about you. I love you a lot, and I feel that I would regret it for the rest of my life if I don’t tell you this as much as I can,” he said loudly.
I was about to pull my hand away when he grabbed my chin with his free hand and slowly began to lean in.
Before I could push him away, he was pulled back by an unknown force in mid-air as he began choking and pressing his hands on his neck, trying so hard to breathe.
Jersey walked out of the pack house with her staff in her hand.
She looked furious, and her gaze was fixed on him.
“I knew you would pull something like this, that’s why I had my guard up. What were you planning on doing to my mistress?” she asked angrily.
“Jersey,” I called softly when sweat began running down his forehead.
“You are too kind, mistress, but I am not. What he almost did to you is unforgivable,” she said seriously.
When I saw him drop his hands and stop moving, I quickly walked to Jersey and grabbed her hand.
“You can’t kill him,” I said seriously, then turned to look at him when he fell to the ground.
She and Roman weren’t so different when it came to hurting Larson; they both wanted him dead.
“He is lucky to be alive,” she whispered, then hit her staff on the ground as Larson inhaled deeply, like someone who had been dead for a few seconds.
