Amelia’s POV:
“It’s in the best interest of the pups that we start up a little training field for them,” Angelina said.
“Let me get this straight, you want the pups to undergo daily exercise and training?” I asked seriously.
“Yes, Auntie. Just think about it. Not only will their day be occupied with fun, they will get to be strong,” she answered with a wide smile.
“No, that’s not happening,” I answered simply as her smile faded.
“What?” she asked.
“I said no. When you were a pup, you had your fun and enjoyed the freedom that came with it. No one put you up for exercises or training, and that’s exactly what I want the pups to experience. A life of freedom and fun like you had,” I answered as she frowned.
She was about to say something when Roxanne and Jersey appeared a few meters away from us.
I frowned, then quickly rushed to her side and embraced her.
“Roxanne,” I called in a greeting whisper when I pulled back and looked at her face.
“Hello, Mother,” she said happily.
“What brings you here, honey? Is everything alright at the coven?” I asked loudly.
“Mother, everything and everyone is fine. I just came to say goodbye to my little brother,” she answered.
“He called you, didn’t he?” I asked with a smile.
“Yes, he did,” she answered, then looked at Angelina who was looking at her coldly.
“Go and say hi to your cousin,” I said softly.
“Why should I? Why can’t she come here and say hi?” she asked.
I ignored her and pushed her lightly toward Angelina, then faced Jersey.
“Welcome to the pack. It’s so good to see you again,” I said as she gave a low bow to show her respect.
“Thank you, Alpha Queen. Also, my master sends his regards,” she answered.
“Thank you. Give my regards to him too,” I said, then turned and looked at Roxanne, who stood right in front of Angelina in silence.
“Girls,” I called softly.
Angelina sighed softly, then extended her hand towards Roxanne.
Roxanne hesitated before giving in and shaking it.
“Roxy, I should admit that I was very disappointed when you left with that man without a word,” she said as Roxanne growled in a low tone.
“That man has a name, and it is Garren. He is my mate. It would be good if you could learn to show him some respect too. Also, to be clear, I did say goodbye to your parents, so I am sure they relayed my words to you,” she answered coldly, then dropped her hand.
The aura around them was tense, and their pheromones were beginning to make me uncomfortable.
It’s like they wanted to fight or warn each other off.
“Roxanne?” Kyle’s voice came from behind.
We turned and looked at him as he approached us with Ian.
Since Roxanne left, they loved to train together whenever they were free. That way, they got to bond and talk openly without anyone interrupting them.
“How are you here?” he asked when he reached her.
Roxanne wasted no time in embracing him happily.
“Jersey brought me here,” she answered and then pulled back with a wide smile.
“Why are you here?” Ian asked seriously when he stood next to them.
She moved and grabbed his hand on her own.
“I’m glad to see you too, father,” she answered.
His expression softened, and he moved his free hand to her cheek.
“I’m glad to see you, pup, but I’m also concerned about why you are here without informing us in advance that you were coming. Is there a problem with the vampire territory?” he asked.
“No, father, everything is okay in the territory. I’m just here to say goodbye to Kyle and to throw him a goodbye party,” she answered as Kyle happily hit the air.
“Yeah!” he screamed happily.
“Honey, do you know that he isn’t the only one leaving for training? Larson is going too. So if you throw a party, it should be for both of them. Leaving him out of it is out of the question,” I said as her face turned pale.
“It seems she forgot about him ever existing,” Ian mind-linked me.
“That is actually a good thing if she did, but sadly we can’t leave him out of the party. It would look bad and make Neo and Tori feel bad,” I answered through our mind link.
“I know,” came his response.
“Roxanne,” Kyle called.
She took a step back and brushed her long hair backwards.
“How about we go out to celebrate your departure, Kyle? Just us who are here, excluding Angelina because she’s annoying?” she asked as Angelina glared at her.
“Honey, that’s even worse,” I answered seriously.
“Mother, I’m trying to figure out a way to avoid him. He makes me feel very uncomfortable. Now that I’m alone here, I feel like he will try something stupid,” she said.
“That won’t happen. That’s why my master asked me to look after you on his behalf,” Jersey answered proudly.
“Look, Roxanne, the party idea is amazing. That’s why I want to be the one to help you set it up,” I said as she smiled warmly.
“Thank you, mother. I’m so happy to have your help. The party will take place in the next three days, which means I’ll be sleeping and staying here until the party ends. Father and Kyle will be in charge of the invitations and liquor. Angelina will be in charge of looking after the pups and decorations, while Jersey will be in charge of rearranging things around. I’ll ask my aunties Tori and Kylie to be right by your side to guide you. Mother, Sharon and I will be in charge of cooking,” I said cheerfully.
“Count me out of it,” Angelina answered in a bored tone.
“Oh, come on, don’t say that,” Kyle said.
“She didn’t want me to be a part of it!” she exclaimed.
I could tell by her tone that she was hurt by Roxanne’s words.
“You know, for a grown-up woman, you really act like a little pup. That’s why I said you were damn annoying,” Roxanne said, then burst out in laughter.
I was surprised when Angelina began laughing too.
Looking at them now, it was like looking at their younger selves in the past. They played together a few times, and whenever they did, they would argue and make up in a second. Even after all those years, they were still the same, and it made me very happy to see that.
