Roxanne’s POV:
I stood in the clinic corridor, leaning against a wall with a wide smile across my face, thinking about what had happened last night. It wasn’t much touching but more kissing.
I knew he was holding himself back, and I was happy that he was because our mating would be special and worth it when we do mate.
The only sad thing was that he refused to drink from me, no matter what I said. He was acting as if I was going to die if he did feed from me when he had already drunk my blood back at his mansion.
“That’s a really pretty smile you have on there, Roxy,” Angelina said as she approached me.
“Angie,” I whispered, and then stood upright and looked at her seriously as I tried to compose myself.
“It’s good to see that you are already taking the initiative to meet the other healers and doctors of this clinic,” I said once she was standing in front of me.
She looked at me from head to toe, then chuckled softly, making me feel uncomfortable. Something about her made me very uneasy.
“You don’t know how glad I am to be able to meet you. It’s been a long time since we sat down and had a little chat,” she answered, ignoring my words.
“I’m sorry, but I’m too busy to drink. Plus, my mate, my man, my lover wouldn’t like me drinking and just yelping about nonsense shit,” I said harshly, hoping she would be offended and walk away.
“How about bringing him along?” she asked as I laughed softly.
“And do what exactly? Did she already have her eyes set on him?”I thought.
“No way. Just so you know, we’re going to ambush the coven soon, so he’s very busy with his training,” I answered seriously.
She brushed her hair back and then grinned.
“I know it’s in two months. That’s why I’m here, trying to meet the clinic staff. Look, Roxy, after the ambush, I’m sure you’ll be free. Let’s have a long chat and drink something nice,” she said as I glared at her coldly.
Two months! What was she talking about? And what was her deal? Was she deaf or perhaps playing dumb? Couldn’t she see how I was answering her harshly?
“Just give in. That way, she’ll get to leave,” Astrid said to me.
“Fine, I don’t mind. And the ambush is in two days, not months,” I answered, then faked a smile.
She smiled back widely, then took another step forward, leaning in. She was slightly taller than me, and I hated that.
“You’re so naive, aren’t you? The ambush is in two months. That’s what Uncle Ian said to me yesterday. So I suggest you train harder and don’t die on that side, because I’m looking forward to us spending some quality time together,” she whispered, then turned and walked away, leaving me speechless.
Something about her wasn’t right. She was acting like someone who was interested in me. And was she serious when she said the ambush was in two months? Wasn’t it in two days?
I hurriedly left the clinic, rushed to the pack house, and went straight to my father’s office, walking in without knocking.
“My goodness, I didn’t see anything!” I exclaimed and quickly turned to face the door, which had shut itself.
My mind was scarred yet again, like it was years ago. At least back then, it was them kissing half-naked.
Now, my mother was fully dressed and sitting on my father’s lap, which was okay. What wasn’t okay was how she was moving and the scent that I was inhaling. One could tell that she was riding him, and they were clearly sharing an intimate moment.
OMG! Were they planning on giving us another sibling? No way!
I tensed when I heard my father’s displeased, long sigh. I quickly rushed to the door and got out, standing outside with a rapidly beating heart.
“Speak,” came his command.
A few minutes went by, and I couldn’t seem to make myself knock on the door.
“Roxanne,” he called loudly.
I quickly rushed back in, with my gaze fixed on the floor.
“I… I’m… I’m sorry for interrupting you guys, but there is something that I want to confirm with you that I have heard from Angelina,” I stammered.
“And what is that?” he asked lazily.
I slowly raised my gaze and faced him. When I saw that he was still on his seat with my mother in his embrace, I tensed.
I couldn’t see her face because of the way he was holding her and how she was now sitting, but I understood what he was doing. He was trying to protect her from the embarrassment she was feeling, even though they weren’t doing a thing now.
“Are we really going to ambush the coven in the next two months?” I asked him seriously.
“It’s two days, not months,” he answered, as I sighed in relief.
I knew it! She was obviously messing with me for fun, like she did in the past. Damn her!
“But not everyone is going that side,” he answered, as I frowned.
“Who is remaining behind?” I asked curiously.
“I wanted to go with all your uncles and aunties, but after a talk with your mother and a lot of thought, I have chosen Whitney, Angelina, your brother Larson, Logan, and August. They will all stay behind,” he answered.
“Fair enough,” I whispered, knowing how they would look after the pack well in our absence.
“Also, I wanted to call you in an hour or so to let you know about these changes. So I’m glad that you found out somehow. Please convey my words to Garren as well, regarding who will stay behind. I’ll call and talk to Felix to see if she will be coming along too, considering she is still recovering,” he said as I smiled and turned, walking to the door.
I touched the handle, then smirked.
“Mom, don’t be embarrassed. I saw nothing,” I said, then opened the door and rushed out with laughter before my father could curse at me.
“It’s all your fault, Ian. You couldn’t stop touching me,” I heard her yell, and my father’s loud laughter followed, which warmed my heart.
I walked outside the pack house and went to the training field where my brother was busy training with Garren. The past few days, they had been closer than ever, and that seemed to piss off Larson, who either pretended not to see them or hear them.
“Who’s winning?” I asked playfully once I was closer to them.
“Me,” Kyle answered, surprising me.
“Really?” I asked in disbelief.
“Yes, he is,” Garren answered sarcastically, then turned to look at me.
He was wearing a vest that displayed his sexy abs, and his hair was let down. He looked very sexy, drenched in sweat. I couldn’t stop myself from blushing, while my thoughts drifted to the unknown place of sexual pleasure. I wanted to just push him down, rip his vest off, trace my fingers against his beautiful skin, and lean in to kiss the side of his neck. Would he like that? Would it arouse him? Just thinking about it made me feel a little hot, and my nipples hardened.
“Sis, why are you here?” Kyle asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
“What?” I asked in almost a low whisper, then tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.
“Why are you here? Do you want to train with us?” He asked with a raised brow.
I looked at Garren and noticed that he was trying to adjust his legs and move his hand to the bulge in his trousers.
Instantly, my face lit up. I couldn’t believe he was being affected by me.
I stood in silence for a few seconds, then burst out in laughter.
“What the hell did I do? Is he okay? I’m the head,” I asked Garren.
He walked over to me without a word and stood in front of me, grabbing my neck a little roughly. Without stopping myself, I instantly tiptoed, meeting his lips halfway as he crushed them against mine.
His tongue collided strongly with mine as I breathlessly kissed him back desperately.
“It’s a fucking training field, not a mating ground,” came Larson’s voice, which made me pull back quickly, gasping for breath.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered in a daze, then let out a low scream when I was lifted up caveman-style.
“Garren, what are you doing? I came to tell you something about my father’s decision to ambush the coven. It-”
“Hush, I’ll listen to everything when you’re under me, baby girl,” he answered loudly as he walked past Larson.
I quickly covered my face with my hands in embarrassment.
I couldn’t believe what he had said. Even when other warriors were far away from us, they could still hear him clearly.
“Well, Father asked me to tell you…” I began.
“You two, what the fuck?” Kyle whispered, cutting me off, and then walked past me.
I stood in silence for a few seconds, then burst out in laughter.
“What the hell did I do? Is he okay? I’m the head,” I asked Garren.
