August’s POV:
I walked into a cafe in the evening and sighed softly as I looked around.
The twins sat at the end, looking at me. As usual, they got almost every woman’s attention without doing anything. They were in their casual clothes, yet the leather jackets and dark sunglasses they had on made them look even cooler than they already were.
I rolled my eyes and dragged myself to where they were.
“What do you want?” I asked seriously as I sat down opposite them.
“Your greeting sucks,” Ryan answered seriously, then took off his glasses as the entire cafe went silent.
I didn’t want to look around because I knew what expression almost every woman had.
“Did you call me here to scold me, or is there a problem at the territory?” I asked seriously.
“There isn’t any problem at the territory. We came in here to buy something, and we figured that saying hi to you wouldn’t kill,” Evan answered, then took off his glasses as murmurs broke out.
I could hear exactly what they were chattering about, and it was so damn annoying.
“Oh my god, they are identical twins. Sexy on top of that.”
“Their friend too! Should we approach them?”
“Did you guys pick this place deliberately?” I asked seriously.
“Really? Is that all you can ask?” Ryan asked back sarcastically.
“Because you seem to be enjoying the attention you are getting,” I answered in a low tone as Evans laughed softly.
“We are mated, always remember that. Our looks may attract unwanted attention from both genders, but that doesn’t mean we entertain such behavior anymore,” Evan growled coldly.
I admit I was wrong to say all that to them, but ever since I started working for Felix, I have been dealing with a lot of females every day. Not only do they hit on me every chance they get, but they also make sexual advances openly without caring about how I feel.
“I’m working,” I said out of nowhere, deciding to change the topic.
“As what? Felix’s Beta?” Ryan mocked, while Evans laughed loudly.
“Haha, you’re so funny. I’m actually working at Felix’s pub, bar, and nightclub. You guys should come over sometime. I know you would make quite an impact. Customers would fight each other to get a look at you,” I answered sarcastically.
They looked at each other, then looked back at me.
“No,” they said together.
“I knew it,” I whispered, then frowned when a waitress came with a tray of coffee and put it on the table.
“We didn’t order that,” Ryan said, as she smiled and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear shyly.
“I know. I just thought it would be fun to drink something while you guys chat,” she answered with a smile.
“No thanks, we don’t drink coffee,” Evans responded coldly, then pushed the tray slightly to her side.
“I understand,” she said, and then picked up the tray and walked back to the counter.
“So besides work, what else is new?” Evan asked.
They were harsh to her, yet the lady was still looking at us and trying to get our attention. I had heard a few times how the twins could get any woman they wanted without trying because they had this appeal that drew them to their feet. I laughed at that, but now that I was seeing it with my own two eyes, I was so impressed and, at the same time, not. Lexi was amazing to tie both of them down and make them fall in love with her to the point of having their complete loyalty.
“Nothing is new. I work, spend my time resting if I am not. I sleep around whenever I want to play or get horny. I’m still heartless, but that doesn’t mean I’m holding any feelings for either Lexi or Sharon. I have learned to accept what I can’t change and to live my life without regrets,” I answered, then sighed heavily when another waitress walked towards us with a tray of wine.
“Get the fuck back. You are pissing me off,” Ryan warned huskily before she could put the tray down.
She turned quickly and went back without a word.
“So how are you? And how is everyone in the territory?” I asked seriously.
“They are fine,” Evan said sadly. “To be honest, we all missed you the first few weeks you were away. We still miss you, and I was wondering if you were planning to come back any time soon.”
Although they were usually tough and at times cold, they were a part of my only friends who weren’t showing me their teeth for their own benefit.
“I missed everything and everyone on that side too. Honestly, I’m very happy that you called me out, although you annoy me a little,” I answered, then laughed softly.
When Ryan growled low, I glanced behind and noticed a woman approaching us with an expensive bottle of whiskey in her hand. She was very beautiful and exactly my type.
“Hi, I’m Twinkle,” she greeted, then brushed her hair back sexily as the twins looked at her with murderous gazes.
“Hi, I’m August, and these two are my best friends,” I answered, surprising the twins.
“If you don’t mind, can I sit beside you?” she asked.
“I don’t mind at all,” I answered, then pulled a seat back which was next to me.
“Thank you,” she said, then sat down with a smile.
“Are you here for us?” Evan asked her seriously. She widened her eyes for a second but quickly composed herself.
“Um, you are so sexy and hot that I can’t lie, but I’m not into the bad guy type. I prefer the handsome, calm, good guy looking type, like August,” she answered happily.
So that’s how it was. We both were into each other. I guess coming to the cafe wasn’t all that bad.
“We get it. August, have fun. We will call you when we reach home,” Evan said as they stood up.
“Tell Whitney that I’ll be visiting the pack every month, so she should be expecting me anytime soon,” I said as they smiled, then walked away as the ladies whined childishly.
“Are you going to open the bottle?” I asked as she chuckled softly and then raised her hand, as a waitress quickly came with a tray of whiskey glasses.
“I like a woman who always comes prepared,” I said softly.
She leaned and whispered, “I want to see how hard you can go on whiskey.”
When she pulled back, I smirked. She really wasn’t here for just a friendly drink, and I liked that. The human territory was growing more and more on me, and I was comfortable. Sadly, I couldn’t stay forever because home was home, and that was where my heart was.
