A year later
Olivia’s POV:
“I still want to know why you want to name your children Asian names,” I said seriously to Sherry. She rubbed her hand gently on her pregnant stomach then smiled.
“That’s because I admire their culture a lot and everything. After learning a lot of things from Xiao, I figured, why not?” she answered happily, then looked at the clock on the wall.
The men were outside waiting to welcome Jay and Debby, who were coming with Daisy for the first time.
When Jay, his parents, Martinez, and Debby visited Micah for the first time in town, we bumped into Damon and it almost ended up horribly. Damon wanted Debby dead and out of his sight! Jay and I had to beg like children to have him show mercy. After a few minutes, Sherry talked to him in private, and that seemed to calm him down.
After that encounter, I tried to do my best to get closer to him so he could lower his guard and accept Jay’s visit in the pack. It took Sherry, Alec, and me months to convince him. He finally agreed, and it was a relief. Today was the day that Debby was stepping foot in the pack with her pup after being warned off. So we were all feeling nervous, except for Damon and Alec.
“They are here,” Alec mind-linked me.
“They are here,” I whispered to Sherry and then stood up and helped her up.
She was due soon, so she was struggling to do a few things.
“They are a few minutes late,” she responded as we walked out of the room and went outside the pack house.
When we reached where they were standing, we noticed how they weren’t talking but looking at each other in silence.
Debby was standing behind Jay in fear and avoiding looking up while holding her baby.
“Welcome to the pack, Luna,” Xiao greeted happily, then moved to the side and looked at the pup in her arms.
“Is it a she?” he asked.
“Yes,” Debby answered softly.
“If she’s an Alpha, the pack will want her,” he said as Debby moved from behind Jay with an angry expression on her face.
“She’s my child, mine!” she exclaimed.
“I know, but she’s also a part of our former pack. If she turns out to be an Alpha, then she will have to step up as a leader. The only way you and she are going to be safe is when you make an alliance with a stronger pack,” he said as Debby looked at Damon, who was glaring at her.
“Can you stop talking about the future, please? You came here to see Micah and to introduce the pup to her, right?” Alec asked.
“Yes,” Jay answered, then moved and wrapped his arm around Debby’s shoulder.
“Can we please go in?” he asked.
“Of course,” Sherry answered, then walked to Damon and linked her hand with his.
He sighed heavily, then cleared his throat.
“I don’t want to make my pregnant mate uncomfortable or cause her sadness. So if she wants you to be welcomed here anytime or any day, then there is nothing I can do about it,” Damon said and then took a few steps aside to let them pass.
Jay smiled before walking in with Debby behind Alec. We all followed them to the living room. While they sat down, I chose to stand beside Alec.
“Thank you, Alpha Damon, for accepting our visit,” Jay said happily.
I excused myself and went to Micah’s bedroom to get her before he could respond.
“Hey sweetheart. Father has come with Aunt Debby. Would you like to see him?” I asked. Micah happily ran past me and went into the living room, with me following behind.
Jay stood up and lifted her up when she ran to him.
“You’re here, finally!” she exclaimed happily, as everyone smiled.
She was a huge part of everyone’s life. Although she now called Alec dad, she still couldn’t call Debby mother. It was surprising, but we didn’t want to force her. She was more accepting of their relationship, and she didn’t mind that she was apart from Jay.
“Your little sister came to see you,” he said once he had put her down.
She giggled, then quickly moved closer to Debby and looked at the baby.
“She’s beautiful,” she muttered softly.
“Not as beautiful as you. Also, she’s a little stubborn and rude. Can you believe she peed on your Grandma?” Debby answered cheerfully.
“No way, when am I seeing Grandma again?” Micah asked happily.
“Soon, very soon. This time Uncle Martin will come along again,” Jay answered.
Sherry leaned in and rested her head against Damon’s shoulder. They were both looking at the children with happiness and admiration. It was clear how they were waiting for their own.
“Excuse me,” Maggie said loudly, then walked in with Xiao’s mate. They were both carrying a tray of drinks.
“Welcome, dear,” Maggie greeted Debby, then put the tray on the table while Xiao’s mate went around serving everyone.
“Thank you,” I said out of nowhere, getting everyone’s attention.
“For what?” Alec asked, then wrapped his arm around my waist.
“To Alpha Damon for accepting me into your pack and letting me be by your side. Also, for welcoming Jay and Debby to see Micah despite not being comfortable around them,” I answered.
“Well, you are a great mate to my Beta and a member of my pack. Since we completed the pack initiation for Xiao and his mate, Sherry and I were thinking it’s time for your very own initiation,” he said as I smiled happily.
“That way, you could be fully a part of this family,” he said as I happily hugged Alec, who embraced me back.
“Thank you,” I said in a cracked voice, then pulled back and blinked back the forming tears.
Alec told me how they never accepted just anyone in the pack until they proved their loyalty. That’s why I was worried if they were going to really accept me one day or not.
But knowing that I had proven myself to everyone made me so happy.
“Of course, we are all family now,” Sherry answered.
Maggie grabbed a glass of drink and extended it to me.
Thank you, but I prefer wine,” I answered after I had taken it from her.
“No, not in your condition. My sister, or should I say cousin who is a seer, asked me not to give you any liquor,” she said as I frowned.
What was she talking about?
“Do you mean she’s pregnant? If yes, then why didn’t I notice the change in her scent?” Alec asked in a panic as Maggie laughed.
“Because it’s way too early for you to notice the change in her scent,” she answered.
Before I could react, I was swept up like a child as laughter filled the room.
Finally, we would all have our very own family and happiness.
