Olivia’s POV:
I sat on my bed, debating whether to call Jay or not.
After learning about Debby’s connection to Damon and now to Jay, I felt relieved, but at the same time, I wanted to know how he was doing. He was still Micah’s father, whether I liked it or not, and eventually, he would either find her or she would seek him out. I needed to resolve everything with him before that could happen.
I glanced at Alec’s cell phone for a moment, then dialed Jay’s number.
I didn’t want Alec to question me about what I was doing or why I had his cell phone, which is why I made the call in private, in my room.
After spending another night together, he went to see Damon and left his cell phone behind. It wasn’t a good decision to take it without asking him, but I had to get in touch with Jay.
“Hello,” Jay’s voice came through, and I sighed in relief that he had answered.
“It’s me,” I said softly.
“Olivia!” he exclaimed.
“Yes, it’s me,” I replied.
“Where are you? Are you alright?” he asked.
“I’m okay, Jay. I’m just fine,” I answered honestly.
“And Micah?” he asked, concerned, as I moved to the bed and sat down.
“She’s here with me, and she’s doing well too,” I answered, and he let out a loud sigh.
“That’s good,” he whispered, surprising me.
I had expected him to yell and threaten me after asking about her. His response was not what I had anticipated.
“How are you?” I asked in a low voice.
“I’m fine,” he answered, then the line went silent.
I didn’t know what to say to him. Was I supposed to apologize for what Alec had done to him, or was I supposed to beg him to give us some more time here before he came to make a scene?
“Jay, about Micah. Are you planning to take her away from me?” I asked sadly.
“Why would I?” he asked back.
“What?” I asked in disbelief.
“Look, Olivia, you have loved that girl wholeheartedly for as long as you could. Not only is she a part of your late sister, but she is also your niece, and you are her family. If she was here with me, she would only feel lonely and end up being sad. I have never really given my all to that kid, and you know that. She’s my daughter, yet I don’t love her as much as you do. To be honest, her being with you is a relief to me. So do look after her for me. With time, we will be meeting once in a while to spend some time together,” he answered, shocking me.
“I’m so sorry, but are you Jay?” I asked in disbelief.
“Of course I am,” he answered, then laughed softly.
He sure did sound like him, but his words were nothing like what Jay would say. It was like another version of him. The Jay I knew was aggressive and sarcastic when angered, not this nice and understanding.
“Are you seriously okay with me being with her?” I asked again just to hear him repeat his words.
“Of course I am, and I’m glad you left with her. But all I ask from you is the chance to meet with her once in a while, so I could see and spend some time with her,” he answered as I smiled happily.
“Jay, what has changed? You sound different,” I pointed out.
He remained silent for a few seconds, then cleared his throat.
“Olivia, do you realize that there was a time when I was very obsessed with you?” he asked.
Yes, I did remember, and I still believed he was.
“Yes,” I answered.
“That changed after I met Debby. I didn’t realize how much of a creep and asshole I was to you until her. The way I feel for that woman is a first for me. I have never loved anyone in my whole life as much as I love her. I love her so much, and I want to spend my life with her. I even introduced her to my family recently,” he said as I remained quiet in shock.
“I have come to accept her child as my own, and I do want to be the father to the kid and her husband,” he said.
“Um… Jay, everything you say is shocking. But I just want to know this. Are you aware of what she is?” I asked.
“Of course, I am aware. At first, I thought she was being dramatic when she said that werewolf shifters did exist. I took her as being dramatic, only when she shifted did I believe her. I was so scared and couldn’t seem to move or act, but when she got so sad, that made me realize how important she is to me,” he said.
“To be honest, I care less if she is a vampire, ghost, or whatever supernatural being. To me, she is still Debby, the woman I love and look forward to spending the rest of my life with. She is my mate, and I fully accept and acknowledge that,” he said.
“Wow,” was all I could say after hearing his words.
He really was head over heels for her. Whenever he was with me, he looked happy, and he did try to respect me. But whenever he felt jealous or got angry, he became aggressive and cold. Now, hearing him on the phone, I couldn’t think of him as aggressive anymore.
“Jay, I called you today not only to talk to you about Micah, but also to inform you that I am now with Alec. He is my mate and lover,” I said in a small voice.
“Yeah, I know. Debby told me everything. There are no secrets between us,” he answered.
“And you’re really okay with us?” I asked.
“Yes, of course I am. Look, I want you to be happy with someone who really loves you. Also, pass my regards to Alec. I pray that he loves you forever and takes good care of you,” he answered as I smiled.
“Would you like to talk to Micah?” I asked.
“No, I do not want to do that right now. Please give me some time. The day I feel ready to talk and apologize to her, I will call first,” he said as I smiled.
“I understand. Thank you for everything,” I answered, then disconnected the call.
“Are you happy now?” Alec’s voice came from behind, startling me.
I turned and faced him seriously.
“I am,” I answered.
He moved closer and embraced me without a word, as I hugged him back.
