Side Story Chapter76

Book:The Dominant Alpha (Series) Published:2025-3-10

Jay’s POV:
I sat on the floor, trying to breathe calmly while Debby stood in her human form in front of me.
She was a fucking wolf shifter! She really was a werewolf! That was the only thing that went through my mind over and over again.
Not only that, but the size of her in her wolf form was big, bigger than a bear. If it hadn’t been lying down, would it have reached the roof? I didn’t want to think it through because it was scary as hell! My body was trembling, and sweat was running down my face.
When she knelt down and raised her hand to touch me, I quickly moved back, almost falling on my back, then swallowed hard.
My breath was labored, and my throat felt so dry.
She sadly stood up with a pained, sad expression on her face.
“Do you now hate me, Jay? Am I now a monster in your eyes that you don’t even want me to touch or be around you?” she asked in a cracked voice as tears filled her eyes.
I instantly got to my feet and raised my trembling hand towards her.
I was still in shock over what I had seen, and my body was telling me to run away from her quickly, but my heart wanted to assure her that I would still stand by her no matter what she was. I loved her, and seeing such an expression on her face made me feel horrible. The fear I felt was nothing compared to how much I wanted her not to cry or feel bad.
She slowly moved her hand and touched mine as a cold shiver spread throughout my entire body.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered and then sniffed.
I grabbed her hand and pulled her into my arms.
While I gently brushed her bare back, she broke down and cried loudly.
I felt like a terrible person because I was hurting her, just like others had done in the past. Her willingness to confide in me showed how much she loved me and wanted us to work through everything without any secrets between us. I was supposed to accept her without question or fear.
“I’m sorry for making you apologize. You did nothing wrong besides showing me the real you. I was scared and in denial for a few minutes, but now I’m accepting everything and I feel much calmer. Please don’t cry,” I whispered softly.
“I didn’t want to lie to you,” she said sadly.
I pulled back and gently pressed both of my hands against her wet cheeks.
“I know, and that’s why I am so grateful to know who you truly are. And just so you know, you aren’t a monster. When you were telling me about what you were, I didn’t want to say this because I thought you were joking, but I actually think werewolves are super cool and powerful,” I said softly.
“Really?” she asked.
“Of course. I may have never seen one in real life until now, but I have watched a few movies about them. Although they were nothing like you, they were usually smaller in size,” I answered as she laughed softly.
“So, does silver really hurt you?” I asked curiously as I took off my open jacket and placed it around her.
She put it on and then grabbed my hand, leading me to the couch.
We sat down and faced each other in silence.
“Only pure silver can hurt me. But not to the point of death, unless it’s deeply embedded in my flesh where I or someone else can’t easily remove it. Otherwise, it just causes pain,” she answered.
I was fascinated by her answer and wanted to learn more.
“So, all supernaturals and fantasy creatures we have seen in fairy tale books are real?” I asked.
“Not all, but most of them, yes, they are,” she answered.
“Do vampires die when they eat garlic?” I asked as she chuckled.
“That’s pure nonsense. Garlic does nothing to them, and they can walk in the sun. The only difference is that the sun hurts their skin, not to the point of dying, just causing discomfort and pain. But they can walk around just fine with a hat, cap, or an umbrella. Also, before you ask me, yes, there are a few, by that I mean very few, vampires who give birth rather than sire children,” she answered as I laughed.
I wasn’t going to ask that because it wasn’t relevant to me. What I wanted to know was more about her kind.
“I asked you about vampires because I have a feeling they are your mortal enemy,” I said.
“Well, most vampires don’t like my kind, and we feel the same, but that’s not reason enough to kill each other. We only kill each other when it’s war or something unforgivable,” she answered.
“I understand. So, you are a lone wolf?” I asked.
“Not really, I do have a pack, and I didn’t renounce it, so I am still a part of it. The mate I killed was an Alpha, so that makes me a Luna. A female leader of the pack,” she said as I frowned.
“Sadly, I can’t go back there because if I do, they will either challenge me or want me to protect them when they are nothing but evil. My fear is that when my daughter becomes of age and she turns out to be a female Alpha, she will need a pack to lead, and that might force me to go back. They may welcome us well, but they wouldn’t go easy on you for being a mere human,” she said as I sadly moved my hand to her thigh.
“So, what are your plans?” I asked.
“My plan is to live free and happy with my mate for as long as I can. When I do, mark you, you will get to feel our bond deeper than you do now, and your aging process will slow down, so you will get to grow old with me,” she said as I smiled happily.
I loved the sound of that so much that her words over her pack meant nothing to me.
“Then let’s grow old together and have as many children as we can,” I said as she laughed softly, then covered her face.
I leaned in and rested my head against her shoulder.
Her secrets were now my own, and I was going to do everything in my power to protect her because, no matter what, she was mine.
