Side Story Chapter36

Book:The Dominant Alpha (Series) Published:2025-3-10

Ian’s POV:
“Alpha, when are you leaving?” Evan asked in the bedroom where he had welcomed us.
I looked at Amelia, who was sitting on the bed, and then back at him.
We had already spent the night at their pack, and it felt awkward as fuck because August, Whitney, and Leomord were quiet throughout the entire day yesterday. Amelia and I were dying to go back home.
“Today,” I answered simply, then smiled.
“Uhh, that sucks,” he muttered to himself.
“How are you doing?” I asked seriously.
He, Lexi, and Ryan were the only ones who looked joyous about our visit.
“Awesome,” he answered, then rubbed his shoulder to show off the leather jacket he was wearing.
“Mm, you seem awfully comfortable. Don’t you miss Logan and the others?” I asked as his expression softened.
“I do, but we have to pick a day that Ryan and I would agree on before visiting,” he answered.
“I see,” I said, and then walked to the bed and sat down.
“Did something happen with August in my pack?” I asked with concern.
Yesterday, I had no time to ask Whitney about this because I was busy catching up on a few things with the twins.
“Well….” He trailed off, then moved his hand and rubbed the back of his neck.
“He fell in love with Sharon,” he answered as I smirked.
“That’s great news,” I answered simply.
It was clear to all of us that he had feelings for Lexi, but now, if his feelings were shifted to Sharon, who wasn’t mated, then it was a good thing.
“It’s not alpha, because Sharon is mated to Logan,” he answered as I frowned, then lightly hit my forehead.
“Fuck. Now I understand everything,” I whispered, then stood up.
“Amelia, I’ll be right back. I need to have a word with Whitney,” I said, then walked towards Evan and grabbed his hand, pulling him out of the room with me.
“Did you tell Ryan?” I asked as we walked to Whitney’s office.
“No, but I will soon,” he answered.
“I suggest you do it now,” I said, then stood at the office entrance and knocked on the door.
“I’ll be right back, Alpha,” Evan said, then turned and walked away.
“Come in, Ian,” Whitney responded.
When I walked in, I found her reluctantly buttoning her blouse while Leo sat opposite her on the couch, avoiding my gaze.
What were they, teenagers who couldn’t keep their hands off each other?
“I’m sorry if I have interrupted anything, but you know about August, right?” I asked.
“Yes,” she answered simply.
“And…?” I asked.
“He will be leaving today for human territory,” she answered.
“I see. Then it’s settled because I too will be leaving for my pack. Uncle, if you don’t mind, can we have a small talk?” I said when I glanced at him.
“Sure,” he answered and then stood up.
I walked out with him behind and went straight to the training field.
“Ian, I thought you said it was a talk,” he pointed out.
“It is, Leo,” Axel pulled through to say that.
He instantly gave a bow, then stood upright.
“It’s good to see you, Alpha Axel,” he whispered.
“Funny,” Axel muttered, then pulled back, allowing me to continue to speak.
“Is it really the right decision to send him away?” I asked in concern because I felt bad for the man. He was losing all the women he had an interest in.
“Yes, and I believe he thinks so too,” he answered.
“Then send him to Felix. Since she’s already in human territory, she might help him settle down. Imagine him being all alone without anyone to talk to. It would be hard for him,” I said in a low tone.
“That’s a good idea, Alpha. I’ll quickly give her a call and let her know what’s going on,” he answered, then took a step forward.
“Ian, I know you have things to take care of in your pack, but do you have to leave so soon?” he asked as I smirked.
Since Axel became close to his wolf, we too formed a brotherly bond that was good, despite me calling him uncle at times. We were more close friends than Beta and Alpha.
“I wish I could stay, but I don’t feel comfortable being around you guys when you are with August. Also, I miss my dear mother a lot and my nagging brother,” I answered with a smile.
“Fine, there is no way I can convince you, is there? So have a safe journey,” he said, then turned and walked back to the pack house.
I moved to the punching bag that was hanging on the tree and lazily punched it a few times. When I heard light footsteps approaching me and Amelia’s scent filling my nostrils, I stopped without turning to look at her.
“Why do you feel sad and low?” she asked behind me.
I had no idea, but I wasn’t happy. Maybe it was because of the pity I felt towards August. He and Whitney were best friends, so I was sure his going away was going to be very hard and sad for her, although she acted unfazed. Was Logan ready to have a mate too? As it was, he was a fuckboy who had no respect and care towards women. What if he hurts Sharon? That would only anger August, and two of the best men I know would begin fighting senselessly.
Or was it because I was going back to my pack where there was a lot of work and less time to spend with my mate?
I relaxed when I felt her arms wrap around my waist.
“You have me by your side, Ian, so never worry about things because we will figure them out together,” she said softly.
I turned and faced her seriously, lifting my hand and pressing it to her cheek gently.
Thinking back on my past now, I would have never known such happiness if not for the love that she had given me, even when I made her suffer. Day after day, I looked forward to whatever was going to happen because I had her by my side. There were times when I was very angry and sad in some situations, but just hearing her tell me we would find a way through, my heart instantly swelled with joy.
She was everything to me, and I was happy that I was her mate.
“I know, my love, I know,” I whispered, then leaned in and pulled her into my embrace.
There was nothing more to say in that moment because we could understand each other’s emotions even without uttering a word to each other.
