Side Story Chapter37

Sherry’s POV:
“How are they holding up?” I asked Maggie, concerned.
Yesterday, they refused to leave their child’s side, even when we offered them a room. I understood that they still had their guard up, so I wasn’t going to nag them to do something they didn’t want.
“I went to check up on them this morning, and they seem better than yesterday. The little girl is awake, and the parents seem rather relieved,” she answered with a smile.
I stood up from the bed, moved closer to her, and grabbed her hands.
“Are they a threat to us?” I asked, concerned.
Damon meant a lot to her, so it was obvious she had already asked the seer on his behalf.
“No, they aren’t, but they weren’t completely honest with you. My cousin said they weren’t second chance mates but first mates, and that child is one born from their love. She also said the ones after them weren’t vampires but the warriors from Bevin’s pack. Apparently, he went against his Alpha’s orders and chose the vampire mate over his command, and that didn’t sit well with him,” she answered as I angrily dropped her hands and marched out of the room, leaving the pack house.
“Luna, what’s wrong?” Maggie asked behind me as she followed.
I was upset over how they would lie so easily to us when we had shown them kindness!
Vampires usually choose to attack werewolves who have no packs to protect them, but they know better than to attack a pack. Not only would there be too much bloodshed, but it would also be a war that would drag on for years. That’s why the coven chooses to keep away from territories owned by Alphas, and we do the same for territories owned by them.
Werewolves, on the other hand, are another story. Alphas fight each other for various reasons, and their fights involve the whole pack. They fight until one of them dies. They love to conquer packs that have more land or packs they don’t ally with. It’s only luck that some Alphas seem to be content with what they already have, and that includes Damon and now Ian. If the Alpha after Bevin is one who can’t forgive or overlook disrespect, then he won’t stop at anything until he gets him back, even if he has to attack our pack!
I walked into the clinic and went straight into their ward.
Mika and Bevin quickly stood up with smiles, but their expressions faded when they saw the glare on my face.
The little girl, who looked frightened, was about to move when Mika quickly went to her side and stopped her.
“You two, out. Maggie will stay with her,” I said as Bevin frowned.
“No, we can’t leave our baby girl with a stranger,” he answered.
“Out now!” I growled loudly as my wolf pulled through.
He hesitated but went out of the room.
I looked at Mika furiously, who was now avoiding my gaze.
“Honey bear, wait here for just a few minutes. Mommy will be right back,” she said, then kissed her forehead and walked out of the room.
“Maggie, take good care of her,” I ordered, then went out too.
They were both standing near the door with blank expressions on their faces.
“I’ll ask you a question, and your answer will determine whether you deserve to be a part of this pack or not,” I said, then looked at them in silence for a few seconds, watching their nervous movements seriously.
“Have you two been entirely honest with me and my mate?” I asked as they quickly looked at each other.
“I won’t ask again,” I said firmly.
“Ye-”
“No,” Bevin answered, covering Mika who was about to respond too.
She looked at him with widened eyes as he looked at her calmly.
“Bevin,” she called in warning.
“Mika, I’m so sorry, but they were the first people to welcome us and show us kindness despite knowing what you are. If we want to serve them, then they do deserve to know the whole truth,” he said to her as I sighed in relief.
He looked at me, then gave a low bow.
“Luna, please forgive us for not telling you the whole truth. You see, we were afraid of how things may turn out if you knew. Mika isn’t my second chance mate because she is my first mate, and that child in there is our biological daughter. The story of vampires chasing us was false too because they aren’t. The ones after us are members of my pack. I went against the Alpha’s orders, and now we are paying the price,” he said sadly.
“I know,” I answered, surprising them.
“What?” Mika asked loudly.
“This pack knows about a lot of things, and we have a seer in our favor. If you had not come clean now, I would have kicked you out of this pack,” I answered.
“Does that mean we can stay?” Bevin asked loudly.
“That decision will be made by my Alpha and mate, so I can’t really give you an answer. The ones after you are warriors and our kind, so that changes everything. If the Alpha after you is one to never let someone who has disrespected him go, then he will either start a war or find a way to kill you. His attempts may affect our pack in some way, that’s why I don’t know if we will allow you to live here,” I answered.
Bevin lowered his gaze to the ground, then looked up and forced a smile on his face.
“I understand,” he whispered.
“But if Damon decides to help you, he might talk to your Alpha and come to an agreement with him. That’s why I suggest you do everything in your power to prove to him that you are worth much more than most warriors of his pack. I won’t say a word to him because I want him to find out on his own. Hopefully, that would buy you more time to do something,” I said as he gave a quick bow.
“Please allow me to start training with the other warriors today. I will show them some of my pack techniques, and hopefully, they will be useful to the Alpha,” he said.
“Please,” Mika whispered, then bowed too to show her respect.
“Of course. Alec, our beta, will come and talk to you soon, so be prepared. Also, Maggie will show you to your room, and hopefully, the little angel will get discharged today. You will also be given needed clothes and things. If you are uncomfortable in any way, you can tell Maggie, and she will relay the message to me,” I said seriously, then went back into the ward to inform Maggie about the decision.
