Ian’s POV:
What sort of nonsense was I witnessing? It was absurd to think that the simple private wedding had already taken place, yet we were still being asked to stay back! My mind was back with my pack; it had been a long time since I left Neo in charge.
“You know it’s a happy day, you don’t have to look like you’re attending a freaking funeral,” Felix whispered softly.
She was sitting comfortably next to me, with a glass of tequila shot in one hand.
“Remind me again why you’re here?” I asked sarcastically.
“Well, for once, Uncle is like a father to me, but besides that, I wanted to be a part of this,” she answered, then chuckled nervously.
“Did Chase go somewhere?” I asked seriously.
“Yes, he went out with Lee to find out about a stolen family crest,” she answered and took a shot.
“That answers it all. It was shocking enough that you would come here looking all lonely and shit. Like, who could have guessed you really were?” I mocked.
“Ian,” Amelia called in a cold tone.
“Yes, my love,” I answered with a smile on my face.
“Today is a happy day. Please try not to show your usual sarcastic self to Felix,” she warned.
I moved my hand and gently placed it on her thigh.
“I would never,” I whispered as my eyes roamed all over her body.
She was wearing a simple black dress that showed off her perfect figure. The silver and diamond straps around her shoulders matched the necklace she wore. Her hair was pulled up into a neat bun, and her golden earrings looked great.
Her face had less makeup on, yet she looked gorgeous. She wore high red heels that matched the color of her lips and purse. But what made my wolf purr was how sexy her smoky eyes looked and how well they went with her outfit.
My woman looked like a living goddess right in front of my eyes, and I couldn’t wait to take her to our room and strip her naked.
“You know, your damn gaze gives you away easily. I can tell what you are thinking right now, and it’s not nice,” Felix said as I glared at her.
“Shut the fuck up!” I warned between gritted teeth, then looked at the newlywed couple who seemed to be in their own little world. They were happily chatting and couldn’t seem to keep their hands off each other.
I understood that they needed us as witnesses, but the way they were treating us was horrible. It’s as if we were invisible.
“You know what, you guys should just go on and have fun. We won’t mind,” I said seriously, getting both their attention.
“My goodness, Alpha, how could we do that?” Leo asked loudly.
“You don’t have to pretend when we can all see how you want to leave this damn room. You have our blessings, so please do leave,” I said as Leo smirked.
“Then excuse us, and thanks for coming. Tomorrow around eight am, let’s meet here for breakfast,” he said and then stood up and lifted Whitney in his arms as she giggled happily.
“Go on,” I said simply and watched as they left the room cheerfully.
Felix sighed, then stood up as well and grabbed the bottle of tequila from the table.
“Why am I not shocked that they chose to ditch us on their wedding day?” she asked.
Because they were fucking werewolves, not humans or vampires. To us, marriage was irrelevant. We only went on with it when we felt like it or wanted to. Just us accepting our mate and mating with them, as well as marking them, was the same as marriage to us. We didn’t have to put suits on, and our women didn’t have to put on white dresses to seal the deal. No, just our acceptance and marks were enough.
I had no idea why Leo and Whitney chose to tie the knot in a humane way; all I knew was that I was happy because they were happy as well.
“You can’t be shocked, Felix, when you know Leo a little too well,” I answered.
“You know what, Ian? I won’t sit around here or wait for sleep to find me in my pathetic room. I will go out there and follow my man wherever he is. And when I do find him, I’ll make him hold me, you know, fuck me,” she said, then looked at Amelia.
“I’m sorry for my words, Amelia, but it’s quite a shame that such beauty was wasted here. Anyway, see you around,” she said, then turned and walked out without waiting for her response.
“I would have been surprised if she calmly went into her room, you know. She’s a vampire, after all. Nighttime is totally daytime to her,” I said simply when I looked at my beautiful mate.
“Do you think she will find Chase and Lee?” Amelia asked in concern.
“Yes, of course. She’s a very good tracker,” I answered, then frowned when she lowered her gaze to her lap.
“Ian, so what now? Should we retire to our room too?” she asked as I grinned, then stood up and extended my hand to her.
“I had dinner and a private room reserved for us at the Gateway Palace,” I said as she looked at me with widened eyes.
“You did!” she exclaimed.
“Yes, I did. As Felix said, it’s quite a shame that such beauty would be wasted here. Moreover, the other reason I accepted to act as a witness is because I wanted you to enjoy our time together at a romantic place. Yes, my mind may be concerned about the pack, but I know it’s in good hands and you are my first priority,” I answered honestly.
She blinked back the forming tears, then grabbed my hand and stood up.
“Thank you so much,” she whispered.
“Don’t thank me yet, my love, because I will spoil you rotten tonight, so don’t hold back on anything you want, okay? Because I will gladly listen to whatever you say,” I said as she smiled.
“Okay,” she answered softly.
“I would gladly do anything for the love of my life,” I whispered softly when we began walking to the door.
“I know, and I love you too,” she whispered back as I smiled proudly.
I just wanted to spoil her, even if it was just a little, because I was the happiest man with her by my side.
She was the apple of my eye, as I was hers.
