Sherry’s POV:
“I swear to the moon goddess, if she doesn’t wake up soon, I’m going to fucking kill the both of you, do you hear me? I’ll rip you into pieces!” I heard Damon’s loud, furious growl, which was followed by a very pleasant scent that made my heart flutter and my mouth water.
I groaned in pain and moved my hand to my forehead, gently rubbing it. I had a terrible headache.
“Oh, Sherry. Thank goodness you’re awake,” he whispered in relief, then gently grabbed my hand as I frowned.
The tingles I felt were unlike anything I had ever felt in my life. The pain I was experiencing instantly subsided, and my body relaxed.
“Damon, water,” I forced out the words.
“Right away,” Maggie’s voice came through.
As Damon helped me sit upright, I could hear movements and loud heartbeats coming from my left side.
“Where are Lee and Chase?” I asked in a husky voice.
“We’re here,” Lee answered in a sad tone.
“Oh,” I whispered, then took a deep breath. The scent was alluring and filled the whole room. I wanted to smell more of it.
“Here, have some water,” Maggie said immediately after the sound of the door opening.
“Give it to me, Maggie. I’ve got this,” Damon ordered.
After a few seconds, I heard a creaking sound, then Damon’s shoulder brushed against mine. I knew it was him by the tingles I felt, and now it was clear to me that the amazing scent I was inhaling was coming from him as well.
“Turn your head to the left,” he instructed me.
When I felt a cold glass bump my lips, I opened my mouth and took a mouthful of water.
After I swallowed, I cleared my throat.
“Thank you, that’s enough,” I whispered.
“Okay,” Damon answered, then moved.
I put my hands together and smiled happily.
Although I couldn’t feel or hear my wolf, some things were now different. I could smell my mate, as well as react to his touch.
“Sherry, I want to apologize,” Chase said in a low tone.
“Apologize for what?” I asked in concern.
“The spell I cast on you was so painful that you passed out for a few hours. We were all very worried about you, but I can assure you now that the spell was successful. You might not immediately hear or talk to your wolf, but with time, you will. The first thing you will experience is the mate pull, followed by the presence of your wolf. When your wolf reveals itself to you, you will be able to regain your sight through her vision,” he said as I quickly stood up, moving my hands around to touch him.
I wanted to thank him for what he had done. He had no idea how happy I was at that moment.
“Careful, you might fall,” Damon said when he touched my hand.
“I don’t care because I want to thank him for helping me so much,” I answered in a cracked voice.
I heard footsteps move closer, and then a hand touched my free hand.
“You don’t have to do that, Sherry, because we are the ones who are grateful. Because of you, Alpha Damon was able to give us valid information on who has the family crest,” he answered, surprising me.
“He did?” I asked.
“Yes, it turns out one of my men came across it in the black market. A magician by the nickname Whistle was selling it at a very high price. As tempting as it was to buy, no one dared to purchase it because they knew which family it belonged to,” Damon answered.
Was he saying that Lee’s family was so powerful that everyone who had attended the auction was afraid to buy it?
“The next auction will be held next week, and this time, a lot of potential buyers will be invited. The crest will be presented again, so I suggest Lee and Chase should do their best to stop the man before he really does sell it off,” he said.
“We will stop him no matter what. You already gave us his real name and coordinates to his hideout. That alone is much more than we came to ask for,” Lee answered.
Chase dropped his hand from mine and took a step back.
“Now that you have seen that your Luna is awake and in good health, will you please let us go?” Chase asked as I frowned.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“Well, you see… after you passed out, I felt scared and kind of ended up threatening them. As we speak, my warriors are at the door, guarding it so that the two men can’t escape,” Damon answered in a low tone.
I moved my free hand to his arm, then slid it to his face, touching his mask gently.
“That’s not how we treat our guests, Damon,” I said softly.
“I know, and I’m sorry,” he apologized.
“If you are, then let them go. They have a lot to prepare,” I said.
“Okay,” he answered.
“Step away from the door and let them through,” he ordered loudly.
I tensed, then relaxed when I felt his lips touch my forehead.
“Is that enough?” he asked in a whisper.
“Yes,” I answered.
“Alpha Damon, I want you to understand something. The fact that we stayed here even when you threatened us should show that we have nothing but respect for you. Because for us to travel back, we don’t need to use the door,” Lee said calmly.
“What do you mean?” Damon asked lightly.
“I and Chase usually travel using a portal. We only stayed behind because we were worried about Sherry, and we have respect for you,” he answered.
“We will remember you, and I hope you do too. Hopefully, we’ll all meet in the future if fate allows it,” Chase said.
I was about to answer when I felt a strong pull of energy in the room, which disappeared after a few minutes.
“Mmm, they’re gone. It seems they were telling the truth. They do travel by a portal,” Damon said.
“Damon,” I called seriously.
“Yes,” he answered.
“Can you please sit with me on your lap?” I asked.
He remained silent, then swept me off my feet without a word.
As he moved, my heart beat wildly. I really wanted to spend some time with him, just the two of us cuddling.
He sat down with me and gently rubbed his hand on my back.
I smiled and moved my arms around his shoulders.
“Can you please lower your head?” I said, and he complied.
I moved my hand to his face and pulled off the mask.
“What are you doing?” he asked curiously.
“What? I want to kiss you,” I answered playfully.
“You could have said that sooner,” he said, and then pressed his lips against mine, kissing me the way I wanted as I kissed him back.
