Sherry’s POV:
Felix, the purebred vampire, was a name well-known in Ian’s pack because of how close she was to him.
Back in the pack, I had met her a few times, but that didn’t mean we talked. From what I could gather from Ian, she was a very powerful and capable ally one could ever have.
If these men were truly her friends, then it was good to have them on our side. Who knew what the future held? They could one day be needed for assistance.
Damon was definitely against it, but I wanted him to be in their favor.
“So tell me, what help do you need from me?” Damon spoke seriously.
“I come from a long line of warlocks and charm casters,” Lee answered.
“You mean witches,” Damon asked in a correcting tone.
“Yes, I do. Not so long ago, I received a letter from my parents who requested my presence immediately. When I went to that side, I discovered that our family crest was stolen by someone. No one had an idea who it could be because it was kept as a secret and only a few people knew about it. The crest is more important than our own lives because it holds so much power to whoever lays their hand on it,” he answered.
“Why would your parents or people keep such an important thing unguarded?” Damon asked the question seriously, the same question I was about to ask.
“It was guarded by magic,” he answered.
“So you mean to say whoever had their hands on it is pretty good with magic or had a magician with them?” I asked.
“Probably,” he responded.
“I see, so what kind of help do you want from my pack?” Damon asked.
“My parents, as well as the elders of our family, have been searching for any leads or clues that could lead us to the thief, but sadly it all turned into a dead end. One charm caster who was recently taken in by my parents is the one who suggested I visit you. She was so positive that you would be able to help us, that’s why I am here with Chase,” he answered as Damon sighed softly.
“Can the two of you step out for a minute? I want to talk to my mate alone,” he said.
I heard the sound of chairs being pushed, then footsteps walking away.
I swallowed hard and waited for Damon to speak when the door opened and shortly closed.
“Sherry,” he called softly.
“Yes, Damon,” I answered in a whisper.
“Are you sure we should help these men? For all I know, they could be testing us,” he said in concern.
He was right to worry about our well-being as a pack, but what if helping them would make them indebted to us?
“All I know is that when we help them now, in the future, they may be of use to us,” I answered.
“Fine, I just hope we will never regret this,” he whispered, then cleared his throat.
“Please come back in,” he said loudly.
The sound of the door opening sounded, then light footsteps soon followed.
“We will help you find the crest,” he announced.
“Thank you, thank you very much,” Lee answered happily.
“Alec, talk to our men and see if any of them have an idea where the crest could be. Let them tell you any information they know about it. If they don’t, then ask Maggie to talk to her cousin and see if she can help us in any way,” he ordered.
“Right away, alpha,” Alec answered.
“Um… excuse me, can I talk to you about something else?” Chase asked as I frowned.
“What is it?” Damon asked back coldly.
“Sherry, can you extend your hand for a second?” he asked as I frowned deeply.
“Do you want to die? No one touches my woman,” Damon growled in warning as I felt my heart flutter.
“Please trust me,” he whispered as his footsteps sounded closer.
I hesitated, but slowly complied because I felt there was no harm in doing so.
When he touched my hand, I quickly moved my free hand to the side and touched Damon’s thigh to calm him down.
“Your wolf is alive, but she’s very weak and dormant,” he said as I took in a sharp breath.
“What?” Damon asked in a low tone.
“He is telling the truth, Alpha, because I too felt the presence of her wolf,” Lee answered.
I breathed out and sniffed as tears rolled down my cheeks.
“Is there a way to revive…”
“Yes, that’s what I want to do,” Chase answered, cutting Damon short.
“Sherry, take a deep breath and release it,” he instructed, and I complied.
“Now relax, no matter how painful it is, don’t pull your hand away from mine,” he instructed.
I was scared of the pain, but I was willing to do anything to have my wolf back.
“The dose of wolfsbane in your blood is still quite high. For it to naturally leave your bloodstream, it would have taken seventeen years. That’s how bad things would have been. But luckily, I can try to remove it all through your sweat, but it will hurt,” he said as I forced a smile on my face.
“Do it,” I answered.
I had been with my wolf my whole life. Losing her was like losing a huge part of myself. I had suffered so much, and I felt broken. If I could have her back, I was willing to do anything.
I tensed when I felt hands on my shoulders, but instantly relaxed at their warmth. Damon was standing behind me, trying to comfort me.
“Please, do it. I will be forever grateful to you if you revive my mate’s wolf,” he said softly.
“Damon, this is our way of showing appreciation. You welcomed us well into your pack and you decided to help us. This is the least we could do,” he answered and squeezed my hand.
In just a second, I felt my stomach churn and became nauseated as pain began building from my stomach.
I bit my tongue as the pain began to spread throughout my entire body. My head was slowly beginning to hurt, and my body was slightly trembling.
“Stay strong, Sherry, because it will only get worse. You need to sweat as well as throw up to get rid of the wolfsbane inside you. So please bear with me,” he said as I nodded.
With each passing minute, the pain intensified. My breath was labored, and my knees were growing weaker. My head was now aching badly, and my hearing was slowly dimming as sweat ran down my forehead.
I refused to give up, no matter what. Even if it meant dying in the process.
