Side Story Chapter20

Book:The Dominant Alpha (Series) Published:2025-3-10

Sherry’s POV :
True happiness was what I was experiencing for the first time. It didn’t matter if I couldn’t see my mate or Maggie to me as long as they were on my side.
The past weeks that went by I got to meet a few people who where working under my mate and that included his Beta. The day we first spoke I came to learn a few things and among those things was his undying love for Damon. He was like his biological brother and he reminded me so much of how Ian and Neo where.
“What’s wrong?” Damon asked besides me as we slowly walked.
“It’s nothing, I’m just happy that we are taking a walk together.” I answered with a smile then inhaled deeply taking in the scent of flowers.
“Of course, to begin with I was against the idea of you staying couped up in the room for days. You need to take a walk around everyday with either me or maggie.” He answered then gave my hand a light squeeze.
“Are there flowers around us?” I asked softly.
“No, we are just surrounded by trees, the flowers are way ahead near the boarder.” He answered as I frowned deeply.
The scent of flowers was so strong that I could have swore the flowers were near us.
“Oh,” I whispered softly then laughed.
“I’m still happy even being surrounded by nature.” I said then stopped walking when he did.
“Sherry, is there anything I need to know about Ian’s pack which my hold any value or threat to me and my pack?” He asked suprising me with his question.
I could tell that he was making sure I had zero secrets.
I moved my free hand and placed it on his chest.
“No, Ian stopped going after packs the moment he met the alpha queen. So there is nothing you should be afriad of.” I answered seriously then gasped when I was pulled forward in his arms.
I smiled when his arms went around me and his head rested against mine.
His warmth and scent engulfed me and all I could hear was his steady heart beat. The moment we where sharing was so peaceful, yet I too wanted to ask him a question.
“Damon, is there something I should know or learn about your past?” I asked softly then instantly regretted it when he groaned loudly before pulling back from me.
“There is.” He said as I held my breath.
“My parents died when I was a young pup so I had to learn to handle everything at a young age with Maggie’s help. Although I blame my first mate for scarring me and killing my pack memebers, I was also at fault because I was the one who first took out her pack. Ian and I aren’t very different because we…..”
“No!” I exclaimed while shaking my head.
“You aren’t like that man!” I screamed on top of my voice as a lumped formed in my throat.
He could never be like him. He loved his first mate and he accepted me without putting me through hell like Ian did his alpha queen. To me he was a good man more than Ian was.
“Sherry, I too killed and took out packs for fun. It may be hard for you to believe but I was such a horrible bastard.” He said in a pained tone.
I could tell how hard it was for him to speak about his past self yet he still wanted me to know.
I moved my arms and wrapped them around him.
“Well I too was a slut, so I don’t care about your past.” I whispered then swallowed hard.
“Alpha!” Alec’s voice called loudly.
“What is it?” Damon asked coldly while wrapping his arms around me.
“I have an important matter to inform you.” He said as his footsteps sounded near.
“You could always mind-link me you know,” Damon said loudly.
“Sir, I would have but this matter evolves the boarder and that’s where I am going. A few warriors have already taken another route in the forest as we speak.” He answered as I frowned.
Whatever the issue was it sure did sound very serious.
“Alec, I hope it’s as serious as you make it sound, because I won’t forgive you if it’s all a lie.” He said then dropped his arms from my waist.
“I guess our little walk ends here. Whenever I settle everything with him I’ll make sure to spend some quality time with you.” He whispered.
I smiled when I felt his lips press against my forehead then frowned when I heard heavy running footsteps approaching us.
“Alpha, I came running. Is there a problem?” Maggie’s voice came through.
“No Maggie, everything is well. I just wanted you to take Sherry back to her room. There is something I should look at at the pack’s border.” He answered.
“I understand alpha.” She said.
I felt a warm hand grab my wrist and there and then I knew it was Maggie..
“Stay with her in your room until I return, no matter what don’t leave her side am I clear?” He asked.
“Yes of course alpha, I will be by her side no matter what.” She answered.
“Luna, shall we go back?” She asked in a low tone.
“Yes.” I answered then slowly began to walk following the pull of her hand.
I was very worried about him and a thought of him being in danger was constantly crossing my mind.
“Maggie, since Damon’s first mate did that to him has there been any pack trying to attack him or form an alliance?” I asked.
“No Sherry. Our pack has always been far away from other packs and there was never a day we had ever received a death threat. My guess is that there is a powerful rogue that is near our boarder or crossed it. In just a few minutes the alpha will solve the problem and everything will be fine so don’t worry okay.” She answered in an assuring voice.
“Okay.” I answered calmly.
She was right. There was nothing to worry about if there has never been an incident like that in the pack.
Like what could go wrong?.
Nothing right?.
