Side Story Chapter19

Book:The Dominant Alpha (Series) Published:2025-3-10

Logan’s POV:
I wasn’t going to risk it. Fuck no, and I’m glad that I didn’t.
When I saw everything play out in front of me, I was furious with the beta for touching my mate, yet on the other hand, I was willing to overlook everything because I was scared of being rejected by her.
First of all, I was in bed with another woman before her arrival. Although it wasn’t intercourse, it was still oral sex. Me rushing to her side after picking up her amazing scent was a mistake that I couldn’t help. Secondly, I acted so possessive over her that it almost made her uncomfortable.
When she slapped me hard across my cheek, my wolf and I kept our cool because we truly felt attracted to her and needed her. I saw how the twins, Alpha Ian, as well as Neo, almost messed up their chance of being happy. They acted all high and mighty when, in truth, they were sad and so alone.
I wasn’t going to go down that road no matter what. That’s why I was going to win my mate over and convince her in just a few days to stay with me.
“Come on, lovebirds, time to go,” Blade announced loudly.
He was still at the entrance with his back towards us.
I was sure Neo had mind-linked him to come and check on me, seeing how August had decided to confront me in the guest room.
“You leave first; we will catch up later,” I answered while gazing into my mate’s eyes.
After the kiss, everything seemed to revolve around her. I saw no one but her, and I couldn’t stop myself from smiling. If not for Blade saying something to snap me out of my daze, I could have stood there for almost half an hour.
“Sharon,” August called behind us as I sighed heavily.
So he was still around! I would have sworn that I had heard him leave.
“I’ll join you in a few minutes,” she answered simply without looking at him.
“Okay,” he said softly, then walked out of the room.
“So… is it okay with you if we share a room?” I asked seriously.
She glared at me, then walked past me to the door.
“Stupid,” Kine muttered in my mind.
“What did I do?” I asked, surprised at his remark while I rushed to the door and grabbed her hand.
“Sharon,” I called in concern.
She turned and faced me with a scowl.
“I am not mating with a stranger, mate or not,” she answered loudly, shocking me.
“Mate? What are we talking about?” I asked, feeling confused.
“She thinks you want to share our bed with her to mate,” Kine answered. I gasped loudly and brushed my hand across my face.
“Sharon, I didn’t mean we should mate,” I said seriously. “I just thought it would be amazing to share my room, not my bed. So it’s just us being in one room without sex,” I clarified.
For a few seconds, she looked at me with a cold expression, but then she burst out laughing. I sighed in relief and watched in awe at how beautiful she was.
She tucked her hair behind her ear and cleared her throat before looking at me seriously. “Is there something on my face?” she asked shyly.
“No,” I answered, then walked out of the room with her.
Her free hand was pressed against her flushed cheek, and she was trying so hard to keep her eyes on the ground, but she failed terribly.
“Besides your mesmerizing beauty, there is nothing weird on your face,” I said with a simple smile.
She tucked her hair under the other side of her ear and chuckled softly.
I was beginning to notice a few habits of hers. Whenever she was shy, she tucked her hair under her ear, which I found to be cute.
“Is she truly shy, or is she faking it like most she-wolves do?” my wolf asked seriously.
“Shut up and don’t do anything to mess up our chances,” I warned silently.
“Huh, you are being funny right now, aren’t you? remember you’re the one who almost did” he fired back.
I felt my heart ache as my grip tightened.
“Logan,” she called softly when I averted my gaze from her.
“I’m really sorry for hurting you,” I whispered.
“You have already apologized, so cut it out,” she answered.
She really was kind. That was all I could think of until we reached Neo’s office downstairs.
I knocked once and walked in without waiting for a response. As expected, everyone was already seated and waiting.
“Sorry for the wait,” I said seriously, then walked to the empty couch opposite August and sat down with Sharon.
“Now that he is here, let’s begin our discussion,” Neo said, then sat upright in his seat behind his desk.
“Ian left yesterday with Amelia to attend Whitney’s wedding, as we all know, but he also asked us to welcome August into our pack as a family member. That means, as of today, he trains and dines with us,” he said, then smirked.
“Logan, you will be in charge of his training,” he said as I quickly let go of Sharon’s hand and stood up.
“What? Why me?” I asked at the top of my voice.
“You are the lead warrior. Training someone or checking out how far they have trained is your duty. Also, just because I have appointed you to be his trainer, it doesn’t mean I won’t be present too. Whenever I’m free, I’ll be with you guys, and whenever I’m busy, Blade will step in for me a few times. Sharon, you will be in Kylie’s and Toni’s care. They will show you around and teach you a few things they know that might be useful to you. In the coming two weeks, I expect all of us to work together in a respectful environment without getting on each other’s necks. If you have a problem with each other, sort it out like adults, not kids,” he answered, then stood up.
“I want Ian to take some time away from this pack, and I’m sure August, you want the same for Whitney,” he said as August nodded.
It was clear that I had no say in the matter. I was going to do as he had ordered, but at the same time, try to stay away from August whenever the training was over.
