Rex POV
“Hello?” I turned around as I saw the resemblance that struck in immediately.
I furrowed my eyebrows as I stared at him in shock. “How is this possible?” I gasped out as I couldn’t believe my eyes.
“Collins Morgan?” I said to myself as I looked at him.
He grinned as he stretched out his hand. “Nice meeting you, Rex King.” He muttered as he waited patiently for me to shake him.
We shook hands as I forced out a smile as I was trying my best to process everything that was going on now.
“I expected the shock on your face.” He said as he pushed his cigarette inside his mouth.
“I must apologize, after my life took a drastic turn, I became a smoker.” He said hysterically as he turned on his lighter.
“I don’t care if I damage my lungs. My pack doctor keeps complaining about it. They still think of me as a little boy. But then, they underestimate how powerful I have become within the years of being their Alpha.” He chuckled softly.
I remained puzzled as I kept looking at him. He was a completely different person now. He wasn’t the man I had employed, neither was he the man that I had constantly been monitoring for three days now.
He was the opposite of everything that I had thought of him. And looking at his outfit right now, he was giving the vibes of a Sicilian Mafia king with his pinstripe black suit and heavy coat he had on his body.
I lowered my head as I saw three heavy rings on his fingers and then, a tattoo on his two middle fingers.
I couldn’t recall where I came across that symbol but then, it was a red eyed wolf. He had a domineering aura and we were almost the same height.
I couldn’t ignore the customized lighter he had. A black and red scorpion is perfectly drawn on it. I guess whatever pack he controlled was more of a syndicate group of werewolves but then, he wasn’t from New Kingston.
If he was from New Kingston, then there would have been no way I wouldn’t have found out.
From where I stood, I could perceive his freshly woody and musky scent and looking at his hazel eyes did nothing than to leave me in awe.
“How is this even possible?” I finally let out a question as I stared at him.
“How is this possible?” He chuckled softly. “You know, you are a good man with your own flaws and it just happens to be one thing that keeps me at the edge. Accused of killing Liam Bohen and here I am, offering you my hand as an ally.” He muttered.
Upon hearing those words, my eyes went wild in shock as I couldn’t believe that he was the one I had spoken with over the phone.
“I expected you to be shocked. But… I need you!!” He shrugged as he moved his cigarette from his mouth as the smoke choked me a bit.
I exhaled lightly as I looked at him. I was on the defensive side because he had made mention of Kingsley.
I had many questions running through my head and if it was possible, I would have asked him all of it like, “How did he know about Kingsley being my life sworn enemy?” “What does he need from me?” “Why does he want to make me his ally?” “Who really is he?” “Why apply for a role in The Eleven when he practically has a wealthy and powerful life?” “What exactly is he up to?”
I looked at him as he remained completely relaxed. “I know you must be wondering how I knew about Kingsley.” He furrowed his eyebrows as he walked closer to me.
“Everyone thinks it’s just a business rivalry and worst of it is, they think it’s a healthy rivalry but we both know, it is more than that, Rex King.” He muttered as he looked right into my eyes.
“But between you both, and most importantly, with me now in the picture, we know he will haunt you forever because you killed his mate, Maya but then, there is one big question, who was your wife?” He furrowed his eyebrows as he looked at me.
“You are a powerful Alpha and you made a smart move by taking down every information about her.” He mumbled as he turned away.
He walked to the edge of the balcony as he looked away. “I asked myself and I still ask myself. “What are you hiding?” “What exactly are you scared of?” “What are you protecting?” “And also, who is your ex wife? Did you really hate her to take down everything relating to her?” He questioned as he raised his eyebrows.
I exhaled lightly as I looked at him. I felt this relief the moment I came to realize that he doesn’t know who Elena is.
“And why should I be your ally?” I scowled as I tilted my lips.
“Your right finger.” He pointed at my finger as he grinned. “Missing ring?” He chuckled softly as I looked at my finger.
“What are you up to?” I raised my eyebrows as I looked at him.
“Logan Bohen is lying lifeless on the floor and your ring is lying next to his unconscious body. And I want just one thing from you but before that, I want you to tell me the truth.” He said with a broad smile on his face as he threw his cigarette on the floor as he crushed it with his shoe.
“Who is your ex wife? And what are you scared of??” He queried as he looked at me. “Your time is ticking.” He said with a smile.
“Threatening me and seeking alliance?” I chuckled softly. “And why do you think I’ll consider you as an ally after this?” I sneered as I looked right into his eyes.
“Just a call and you’ll end up behind bars and how do you think you’ll be able to protect her?” He said as he smirked.
