Logan’s POV.
Present Time
“Helen McKinsey?” Owen gasped out in shock as he looked at Helen who was looking really seductive.
I stood there as I stared at her. Her red gown that stopped right above her knees and her red lipstick and nails were perfect.
“It has just been a few weeks and you are already looking this hot? Come on, Helen. Tell me, what’s the secret to your beauty and sudden hotness?” Owen teased as they both laughed.
She turned to me as she wore a broad smile. “It has been just a few weeks and there is already a fire on the mountain.” She said calmly as she looked at me.
Owen exhaled heavily as he looked at her. “It’s still like a dream. Collins Morgan and Dahlia Morgan, back to New Kingston and threatening our existence.” Owen sneered.
“Our parents won’t let anything go wrong because the committee can’t become a defunct one because of a common mistake made by you guys.” She said as she walked closer to us.
“You were still young then and also, a dickhead.” She scoffed as she chuckled softly.
“He has the evidence, Helen.” Owen sneered as he looked at Helen.
“And we have the power. We have New Kingston in our palm for crying out loud. The judges, the police, and almost all the businessmen in New Kingston respect us, they fear us. He is just a common man and I don’t know why you are scared of him.” Helen snarled as she rolled her eyes.
“This isn’t the Collins Morgan you once knew, Helen. A lot has changed and he isn’t that college boy or that powerless young boy you knew before.” I cut in as I looked at her.
She paused as she looked at me. I forced out a smile, as I never wanted to appear vulnerable before them. No matter what, I was still their strength and if I let Collins get to me, then they were all going to give up as well.
“Where is he then? I guess I am really missing something out.” She said as she looked at me.
“Why don’t we go in then. I hope he doesn’t sweep you off your feet.” I chuckled softly as I led the way.
We walked into the hall and everyone kept staring at us and not wasting time, Reynolds McKinsey had come to borrow his daughter for a while to flaunt. Who wouldn’t do that? I chuckled softly as Owen and I returned back to the place we were seated before Collins’ presence ruined our perfect evening.
“Okay, now tell me, who invited Rex King?” Owen snapped as he got up from where we sat.
“Rex King?” I gasped out as I got up as well, then I watched him walk into the hall. “Such effrontery!!” I cursed as I looked at him.
“And who’s that?” Patricia questioned as she looked at the lady he had walked in with.
“That is Elena. Same lady Liam had gotten attracted to that got him killed.” I scowled as I sat back on my chair. “But who must have invited him?” I frowned as I scanned the hall.
“Oh! Come on, old man!!” I groaned as I saw my father’s face broaden with a smile as he saw Rex walk in.
I watched how Rex and my father shook hands like they have been friends for years and turning to the left, I saw Collins, my worst nightmare.
He was also looking at Rex but then, there was something different. He couldn’t stop looking at Elena Toussaint. I saw the little smile that lingered on his face as he watched her.
His hand remained slightly up as he held his glass cup which still had wine in it.
“Can you see that?” I touched Owen who turned towards Collins’ direction.
“I guess we finally found his weakness.” I smirked as I picked up the glass cup as I gulped it in.
“Are you sure that is really his weakness?” Peterson scowled as he rolled his eyes. “You can’t be too sure about that considering the fact that Rex became the prime suspect of Liam’s death after he tried taking advantage of Elena.” He said in a calm voice as he looked at us.
“Any wrong move and we are done for good.” Jack supported Peterson as he looked at me. “Come to think of it, Rex is an Alpha and provoking him is the last thing any of us would want to do now. And on the other hand, Collins Morgan is fixed on exacting revenge. We don’t know who he really is yet, the confidence, the aura. Everything is still messed up and provoking him might be very risky and to think of it, why is he here? And look at his right hand man, looking deadly as fuck.” Jack pointed out as he looked at Dahlia and the man who has been with her since they made their grand entrance.
I relapsed back on the chair in frustration as I looked at the both of them. “Who has Elena as his weak point?” I whimpered as I turned to look at Elena.
Before I could turn back to where Collins stood, he was completely gone. I scanned the entire hall as possible but then, there was no sign of him. It was like he was never here in the first place.
“Where did he go?” I got up as I stepped forward.
The crowd was a bit much and the light wasn’t that bright.
I turned to my father and Rex wasn’t there again either, neither was Elena. “What is happening? What are they up to?” I turned to them.
Jack, Owen and Peterson got up immediately as they scanned the hall but then, they couldn’t see him either.
“Something isn’t right!” I gasped as I rushed out immediately.
“Hello?” I heard an unfamiliar voice the moment I stepped into the garden.
I turned back to see who it was but then, before I could get a clear facial picture of the person, he struck me with a baseball bat, sending me down to the ground.
