Suddenly being asked, Eliza was stunned for a moment, then shook her head, “No.”
Callie then smiled, “Having a boyfriend and still thinking about someone else is not good.”
Eliza’s face instantly turned red, “I didn’t mean that, I was just… just curious.”
Yusuf seemed like a calm and steady man, different from Jade’s style. Given their similar ages, it was understandable that Eliza would be attracted to him.
“Whether you have falling someone else or not, you need to handle relationships well and not hurt others.”
Callie signed her name, closed the pen, and smiled at her.
Eliza showed an embarrassed expression and struggled to say, “Callie, do you believe me? It wasn’t me who initiated it.”
Callie frowned.
“It was Yusuf, he started it.”
Callie immediately stood up, ready to open the door and confront the person outside, but Eliza grabbed her hand and shook her head, “Callie… don’t embarrass me.”
Holding her back, Callie calmed down after a while, “Why didn’t you refuse?”
“He threatened me, but… but I found myself enjoying it.” Eliza said this with guilt all over her face.
Callie understood.
She gave a self-deprecating smile, “Human nature is like that, I guess.”
Eliza asked, “What about you, Callie? Have you ever wavered?”
This question caught Callie off guard, and she looked a bit lost.
“Have you ever heard a song?”
“Um?”
“The lyrics say, ‘What you can’t give me, please give her completely.'”
Maybe she had wavered, there was only one special man in her heart.
Callie almost muttered to herself. Feeling melancholic, she made Eliza promise to go back and talk things over with Jade and make up her mind to break up.
Eliza agreed.
After everyone left, Callie couldn’t resist calling Jamir. He answered quickly with a hoarse voice, “What?”
This time it was Callie’s turn to be puzzled, “Were you sleeping?”
Jamir didn’t answer directly. There was a rustling sound, “Go ahead.”
“Keep your employee in check and don’t let him mess with mine.” After saying that, she hung up the phone, leaving Jamir confused on the other end.
At night, Callie sat by the window, staring blankly at the black computer.
After a long time, she finally turned on the computer and put on her headphones again.
Her palms were sweaty, fearing she might hear inappropriate sounds between men and women. However, what she heard was Ahmad’s voice.
“Nelson, always leave yourself a way out. Ylosea won’t always be dominated by you alone.”
There was a serious tone in his voice; he was angry.
Callie heard Nelson respond nonchalantly, “Both are your sons-in-law. How can there be favoritism? Are you backing Jaquan?”
Ahmad said, “Your grandfather is gone. I’m teaching you how to handle things. In the future, not only Oconnor Group but possibly the entire Ellison family will be handed over to you. How can I trust you if you’re so extreme?”
Nelson seemed to take a sip of tea, “Mr. Ellison, I’m glad to hear that. But some people might take your words seriously and challenge you.”
It was clear Ahmad was filled with anger towards this man but felt helpless.
“The wedding date is set for the fifteenth; it’s a big day. Mr. Ellison, take good care of your health.” Nelson finished speaking and got up to leave.
Next, Callie heard footsteps.
She remained silent in the dark. It seemed the wedding was indeed set.
Nelson walked a distance where Charlotte had been waiting for a long time. She took his arm, “What did Father say to you?”
