ANASTASIA
The terrible incident from last night had gotten the attention of the Wolf force and every other packs.
The force visited the road where the explosion had taken place and also the spot where Henry was tossed off the building by Woods.
The Billionaire was mashed to nothing. No one could recognize him in the pile of his mess.
The residents of the pack who witnessed the terrible act of Woods during the explosion, shared this with the force and to the of their pack.
From all the information and bodies they found, they could only arrive at the conclusion that this was the work of a Mafia attack on a rival.
The force couldn’t find any trace of a suspect at the location. Neither Diego nor Woods left a trail linking to them.
It was as if we never went to Northern Lights.
While we were returning home last night, Diego made sure his guards, who were back at N. L , cleared our things from the hotel room, and shipped it down to Crescent swiftly.
Everything was done so smoothly. Even the guards who lost their lives at the explosion where attended to as well.
Diego carried out a clean work, giving the Wolf force no chance of tracing him or the burnt vehicle that had the bomb.
I don’t know how he was able to carry out all this in just a short while. He did it quietly and carefully. But there was something I noticed during this operation, something that scares me deeply.
A part of my Diego got lost when we left that place.
He… He no longer looked like the Alpha Lord I know.
He looks completely different.
I noticed this sudden change after he flashed his eyes at me in the car and ignored my presence.
Even when the guards came back to report the finished work to him, Diego’s response was scary. He furiously grabbed one of his guards by the neck and order them to head to Henry’s secret home and cleanse that place as well.
“Don’t come back here until you’re done!” He sparked, directing his eyes at me.
And when our eyes locked, I was filled with fear.
I no longer saw love in my Diego’s eyes. All I could see was rage and hunger for revenge. And all these started when Woods made that mocking statement.
And now that I think of it… “That room,” I recalled, remembering how he yelled furiously over Woods.
Curious, I decided to that very room I found Diego that night.
He was holding a picture in his hand and even sparked at me when I interrupted him.
Maybe that picture has all the answers I need.
I want to know how this war with Woods started.
Carefully going to over there, I locked myself in and went over to the drawer to take out the dusty picture frame.
When I wiped the dust off the glass, I was stunned to see three people in the photo.
A man and two young men.
Only one of them in the photo was familiar and that was my Diego. He looked really young and had the same resemblance as the man in the middle and the other young man at the other side.
This picture was clear to me. It’s his family photo.
But why was he looking at it that night?
What made him so mad?
Curious, I snapped a photo with my phone and left the room to look for the only person who could answer my question.
“Arnold,” I called the Beta, who was making his way down the stairs but paused when he saw me.
“Anna, is there a problem?” He asked, drawing closer to me.
“Why are you shaking? Are you okay?” He placed his hand on my forehead to check, thinking I was ill.
But I had no time for that.
“Come with me, please. I need your help with something.”
“Okay,” He agreed, following me.
I took Arnold to my room and showed him the picture of Diego’s family. When he saw this, he became stunned.
“Where did you get this?” He questioned, rushing up to my door to shut it lock.
“I… I found it in the one of the rooms,” I responded, finding Arnold’s sudden behavior troubling.
The Beta walked up to me and warned, ” Don’t let Alpha Diego see this in your phone. Delete this picture now.”
“But why?” I asked, getting curious.
Arnold sighed at me and said, looking worried, “Trust me Anna, it’s best you don’t allow him to see his family photo in your phone… Not at this time.”
He lowered his head down, giving this sad and helpless feeling.
Seeing this, I realized Arnold also saw the change in Diego. Maybe it’s not the first time.
“Arnold, please…” I held his hand but took mine back when I felt my body rising. Controlling myself, I begged, “Tell me what happened to Diego. Why did Woods call him a failure? Please, I need to know.”
“Anna, please don’t make me do this.”
“Arnold, I’m begging you. Right now, you’re the only one I can speak to. I can’t go and meet Diego to tell me about his past. I… I don’t recognize him anymore,” I said, revealing my fear.
Seeing how worried I was, Arnold gave in and decided to share the past with me.
He pointed at the man in the middle of the photo and said, “That’s Alpha Drusus, the previous Alpha of Crescent. On his left is his second son, Sebastian. He’s Alpha Diego’s younger brother.”
I stared at the photo before dropping my eyes on Arnold, who went on with the story, giving me an opening into Diego’s past.
“It happened a long time ago when Alpha Drusus was still in control. He was a man of discipline and power. He had a way of leaving other packs drooling over his success in the business world, and just like your father… He despises Mafias.”
I was surprised.
So, Diego’s father was never a fan of the Mafias?
“Drusus didn’t just make himself a rough business wolf. He built both Diego and Sebastian to be like him. But his main pride and joy was Alpha Diego. He portrayed all the qualities his father ever wanted, and right there, Drusus concluded that he would take over Crescent.”
“He didn’t hesitate to transfer power into Diego’s hands. He felt it was time for his son to rule. But there was one thing he told Diego and… And that was to be careful of the kind of people he gets himself tangled with,” Arnold pointed, sitting on my bed.
I remained on my feet, listening to this.
Even Diego’s father sounds like my Dad. Always striving to make one perfect.
It’s just like him.
“This was the most important warning he gave to Diego, but it seems he wasn’t specific of the kind of people he doesn’t want the Alpha to mingle with.”
“Diego already knows his father hates Mafias and so he assumed he was talking about that. It didn’t take long for him to come face to face with Alpha Woods, who visited the company and offered to become Diego’s partner.”
That man! I bet he became father’s partner because of Linda, otherwise father would have rejected him if he knew who he really was.
“Diego didn’t want to agree at first but after a few showcase of skills, Diego decided to put him into consideration. He brought this to his father, but Alpha Drusus refused, telling Diego to reject Woods request. Since his father had no liken to Woods, Diego did as he said and rejected him.”
“But that didn’t stop Woods, right? ” I asked, believing that man didn’t accept that feedback.
Arnold nodded.
“It was from there that the problem began. Alpha Diego found a lady who attracted his attention one fateful night. Let’s say it almost looked like love at first sight.”
Hearing him mention a lady, I became a bit upset. I didn’t know that he had someone in his life back then.
“Her name was Amelia. She swayed the Alpha into seeing her as the angel of his life, but he soon regretted his decision when he discovered who she really was.” Arnold sighed, feeling the regret.
“Amelia was Woods spy. That devilish woman had tricked Diego into killing someone who came after her, and that incident was used to blackmail the Alpha into siding with Woods.”
This was shocking!
“Diego didn’t know yet. He still felt she was innocent. He thought Woods had witnessed his crime and snatched that opportunity to threaten him. Diego was in a hellish situation. He didn’t know how to share this with his father at that time. In fact… He didn’t know how to share this with either his brother or even with me,” Arnold said, looking sad.
I could understand him. They have been close friends for long.
“Diego made Woods his partner and that brought a disrupt between him and his father. His old man always fought with him, even when the business started gaining more profit. Wood’s influence on Diego began to make him think he was on the right track. That’s how he was introduced into the Mafia World by that Alpha. He told Diego how far he’d go if he joins them.”
So, it was Woods. Diego was never like this.
“He didn’t want to do as Woods wanted, but when he was threatened by that bastard, who didn’t just promise to reveal his crime to everyone, but targeted his father and brother, Diego gave in. That’s how he became a part of this dark world.”
“Goodness.” I felt the rush of sadness taking over me.
My Diego was placed in a situation he couldn’t refuse.
Arnold went on talking and narrating the terrible things Woods made Diego do. He even got other Mafias to trample and use him.
When they made a mess, they would send Diego to handle it. And on one of Diego’s mission, he was seen by Sebastian and Arnold, who were shocked to see him cleaning up dead bodies.
“We had to do something to help him out before it was too late. Sebastian had advised Diego to turn down Woods and break all ties with him, but this was something he couldn’t do without having a strong ground. Everything felt suffocating for him.”
“He soon gathered his confidence and came up with a plan to attack them one at a time, and give Woods the punishment he deserves. And his plan was working out well. Diego found a way to get a few of those Mafias caught by the Wolf Force. When they all noticed this, they wondered who was attacking them.”
A slap to his knee, Arnold groaned bitterly and said, “He was so close to wrecking all of them, but Amelia… That brat found out about Diego’s plan and shared it with the Mafias!”
I don’t know how this woman looks, but in my eyes, I could picture her already.
A mix of Cassandra and Linda.
“Diego and I came in when she was making a call to someone. Now that he was deeply rooted in this dark world, he was sharp enough to know who she was. And… He killed Amelia.”
My body quivered, picturing how Diego took the life of the woman he once admired.
It must have been brutal.
“But the damage was done. Woods and the others had made their way out and brought about a heavy damage on Diego. They didn’t just bring down the company in flames but… But took his family from him.” Arnold became sad, even though he tried to hide it. I could see he was pained.
“We found Alpha Drusus and Sebastian dead. Those bastards had their heads rooted off their body as a sign to Diego that they were coming for him.”
My mouth dropped on hearing the horrible attack those monsters made on Diego’s family.
So terrible.
