ANASTASIA
Woods chuckled at my tremble, exiting the room. He ordered the guard outside to keep me locked until he comes back to entertain his guest.
And by guest he means Diego.
“It’ll be the last time you’ll ever see that man,” Woods said, talking to me.
My heart sank deeply in fear. This monster wants to take my first time and kill Diego!
No, I can’t allow this. I don’t want this!
Horrified by Woods plan, I had to think of a way to escape before it’s too late. But I had no idea of what to do or how to begin.
I felt suffocated!
“Anna, come on. You can’t go down like this. There has to be something,” I said, getting to my feet and looking around the room.
“Think fast!”
Hovering around, my eyes fell on the window. I quickly rushed up to it and realized we where in a tall building, like the skyscraper father was hosting his party.
And the sound of cars honking showed we where in a busy area.
“Looks like we’re still in Northern Lights,” I pointed, seeing two other tall buildings ahead.
One was a bit close and it felt like the only building one could escape into if there was a chance and better position to get to it.
With this idea rolling in my head, I finally had an escape plan.
Gathering my strength, I began dragging the window bar with force, as it made a lot of noises.
The security guard outside yelled at me, demanding to know what I was up to. When he swung the door wide open, he found me trying to bring the window down and make my escape!
“Hey!” He shouted, rushing up to me to pull me away.
And the moment he made that move, I furiously launched my elbow right at his throat and wrapped my arms around his neck in an choke hold!
He struggled to toss me off as he moved from corner to the other, hitting my body everywhere on the wall, but I didn’t let go.
When my infection kicked in at that moment, a sudden strength took over me and I… CRACK!
I broke the neck of the guard, killing him!
My whole body shook at my action. I just murdered someone!
I only wanted to make him unconscious but my wolf went too far. It went out of control.
Knowing I can’t take back what I had done, I carefully shut the door close and began taking off my clothes.
I wore the security guard’s uniform and packed my hair into the cap he was wearing. Then I rushed out of the room, trying to hide myself from Woods and his men.
What surprised me was the building itself. It’s like it belonged to Woods from top to bottom!
The floor I was in was filled with his men, all moving around and standing guard at some doors.
There was only one passage that was free, and I felt my escape route was right there.
Still, It was important to keep myself hidden even though I wore the same clothes like a few other guards moving around. My body, my hair, my shape and face… All these will expose me if I’m not extra careful and sneaky.
When a group of guards came by, I pushed myself into an empty room, hiding away until they were gone.
But just as I was about to step out, I gasped on seeing Henry coming!
“He’s here? I thought Diego went over to his place to get him?” This felt confusing to me.
Having the desire to get out of this place, I swallowed my fear and took a bold step in making a risky move.
The moment Henry came close to the door, I opened it wide and held him by the hand.
He was immediately startled by my action, facing me with a growl. “Are you mad?! Will you take your hands off…”
Before he could finish his words, I lifted my head for him to see who it was, and that left the billionaire in shock.
“Anna?”
Quickly, I dragged him into the room and had him pinned against the door.
“Wait, Anna!”
“Don’t open that mouth of yours Henry or I’ll kill you right here! I’ve already ended someone’s life and I can still do it again,” I threatened, ready to grab his neck in a chokehold when suddenly… “She’s here with me,” Henry said, talking to someone!
I was afraid. I thought he was talking to Woods!
But he said, showing me his ear, ” It’s Diego.”
“Alpha?” I called, feeling something cold washing down inside me.
“I swear, it’s him. Just take it,” Henry said.
I took the airpod and placed it on my ear, that’s when I heard my Alpha Lord’s voice.
I was so happy.
“Anna.”
“Diego,” I called, getting all teary.
I couldn’t hold back my fear and began to cry.
“Anna, please stay calm. I’m here for you.”
“Diego, I’m so scared right now. Woods is planning to kill you! That man has a nasty plan up his sleeves.”
“I know what he can do, that’s why I’m telling you to try and relax. I won’t allow him to get close to you. Just be brave for me, okay?”
“Okay,” I sniffed, nodding my head.
“Good. Give Henry back the pod. I have something to say to him,” Diego ordered.
I handed it back to Henry, who took the device from me and began listening to whatever Diego was telling him.
“I told you before, that’s the main problem here! Taking her through the guards is risky. Woods might just pop out from no where and…” He paused, listening again.
He didn’t look pleased with what he was facing, and it seems Diego found a way to make him his puppet.
Henry sighed out and said, looking right at me while talking to Diego, “The entrances are heavily guarded, both lift and stairs. The only way out is the roof top. If you can get her from there, then that’s fine. All I know is that a figure like hers in a security wear has no chance of escaping.”
He got that right.
There’s no single female guard or security around this place. If I’m spotted, they’ll get me for sure.
Henry hummed at whatever Diego was, saying, then he said, “Even though I hate you Diego, I still want to help Anastasia because I like her. I’m doing this to save her.”
What Henry said left me surprised. He gave me a smile and said, ” Come with me. We need to be fast before Woods realize you’re missing.”
I nodded, feeling touched by his confession.
Henry took me out of the room and somehow managed to sneak me pass some guards.
As he was leading me into the door that led to the roof, we saw some guards heading into the direction where I was locked in.
Seems they realized the prisoner has escaped!
Henry also noticed this and told me to move. We both went inside and he shut the door, hurrying me up to the rooftop.
“Be fast, Diego. It looks like Woods just found out that Anna is missing,” Henry alerted, kicking the door open and pulling me out to the windy roof of the skyscraper.
I trembled, having no clue on what to do. Henry directed me to a hidden spot and began going through some rubbish gathered there.
That’s when he pulled out a strong cable and said, quickly tying it around a strong pole, “You’ll have to climb down until Arnold spots you. Both Alpha and Beta are in the building.”
“But Woods… He wants Diego,” I said, getting worried about my Alpha Lord.
“He won’t get him. Alpha Diego placed a decoy to push Woods off track. I bet he doesn’t know that Diego is here, believe me,” He assured me, setting the wire off the roof from a hidden spot.
That part had nothing but wall and a few windows straight down.
“Go now,” Henry said, getting me on the cable and ordering me to move.
As I carefully got on it and began climbing, I took one last look at the billionaire, who smiled at me and said, ” I really wished we both made out tonight. It would have been the best night ever. But things took a turn. It’s… It’s important you’re safe from danger. I don’t want you to get hurt.”
I felt upset hearing this from him. Now I can’t help but see him as a different man from the others I’ve encountered.
He cares about my safety.
Henry told me to go before zooming back into the building. I began my journey down the cable, trying not to get myself injured or even miss my grip.
The wind blew hard and everything sounded quiet. I looked over to the next building and wished I could reach for it. But the gap is wide.
As I carefully got to the middle of the skyscraper… “Anna!” I heard Arnold calling out to me from below!
When I looked, I saw him setting himself to receive me out from the window.
Finally, I was… “AHHH!” I screamed when I felt a strong forced pulling me back up!
I looked up and saw Woods and his men dragging the cable!
Goddess, he found me!
“Anna, let go!” Arnold yelled, trying to hold the end of the cable and prevent Woods from getting me.
I wanted to do as he had said, but with the way Woods men were pulling me roughly, I got scared.
It felt like they wanted to shake me off until I fell to my death!
Arnold began having an issue from his end. The guards had caught up with him and he began battling with them!
I heard sounds of gunshots from his point and I was shaken to the core!
“Arnold! ARNOLD!” I cried out the Beta’s name, but no response.
When I saw how close I was getting to Woods, who had a smile crawling across his face, I did what was best.
With force, I threw myself off the cable, staring right at Woods. He was shocked by my action and gave out a loud roar, “NOOO!! ”
My body drew further away from him and closer to the ground. I was preparing myself for the impact when suddenly, I heard the sound of glass shattering from the building and something powerful grabbing me right into a strong hold!
Before I knew what was happening, my body crashed into a window, causing me to tumble.
But my body wasn’t hitting the ground. I was in someone else’s hold!
On feeling this terrible experience coming to a stop, I lifted my head and found myself in Diego’s arms!
My Alpha Lord… He saved me!
And not just that, Arnold was with us!
Both of them had jumped out at the same time and Diego caught me right on time, diving right into the next building.
They made it.
“Anna,” Diego called, looking at me.
My emotions took over and I immediately wrapped my arms around him, squeezing him close.
“It’s okay, I’m here,” He said, patting me on the back.
Just then, we heard the sound of gunshot from the other building we just escaped from.
We moved closer to the window and saw Woods at the roof top, holding someone in his grip.
When we looked closely, I gasped out in fear, seeing Henry being placed under Woods mercy!
The Billionaire was on his knees while Woods placed a gun at the back of his head, staring right at us with those bloody red eyes shimmering in the dark.
“After all these years Alpha, you still haven’t changed from the weakling you are. I knew it,” Woods said out loudly, talking to Diego.
“How do you plan on taking me out if you keep making the same mistake over again? A woman, one of your greatest weak spot! You’ll only keep on failing until I wipe you out finally,” Woods laughed.
His words made Diego angry. He was glaring back at his enemy.
I felt confused by what Woods said. But whatever it was, it didn’t sit well in Diego.
He’s furious.
Alpha Woods didn’t stop cackling his ribs out until… BANG!
I was shocked, watching Henry’s body falling off the building to the ground.
Woods killed him. He ended Henry’s life.
The sight of this horrified me. I drew back, flashing to Henry’s face right before he helped me with the cable.
The hair on my skin began to crawl. This is just too much.
“Let’s go,” Diego said, grabbing me and making a run for it.
We were able to flee that building before Woods could send his men to find us. We were leaving Northern Lights that very night.
Where Diego and I sat in the backseat of Arnold’s car, I noticed how quiet my Alpha was after we left.
He was completely lost, like something had taken his mind away.
When I placed my hand on him, what I saw next frightened me.
Diego’s eyes… They gave a terrifying flash which scared me instantly.
He didn’t even show any concern when I drew my hand away. It felt like something had changed in him.
