Soliloquy: ‘Even time yields to me’

Book:The ExtraOrdinary Luna Published:2025-3-6

Perhaps Seth would rather felt the sharp edge of the dagger piercing his heart than have to accepted the fact that the lover he adored so much left him. Half of his soul was gone.
Seth was a fool for not trying to keep Edith by his side. Why would he have such great power if he couldn’t even save a woman? He wanted to get rid of his helplessness.
Seth felt the emptiness shackling his heart. He never thought that this loss would hurt so much. He became lost.
Life without her left Seth empty.
Life without her love left Seth weak.
Depression managed to drown him in a sea of sadness.
At least that’s how Seth felt for a year. The emptiness began to be filled when Seth received information about Edith from the Beta. He remembered when, a month ago, he made a contribution by sending some of his warriors to the Spanish border area.
At that time, Seth saw Jadden running towards him with a gasp. He was sitting stunned in his workroom when Jadden showed Seth the photos scattered on the table. Jadden pointed to one of the photos, which distracted his attention. He looked at it and straightened up.
Seth noticed every portrait of Edith looking happy with Kai. His eyes fell on something wrapped in a blanket in Edith’s arms. He could see that the thick snow surrounding Edith kept her smiling.
“She looks happy,” he said softly.
“Enough Seth. Don’t let yourself lose to her. You’re such an obnoxious zombie wolf; I’m the one who keeps cleaning up the mess you’re always making. Who’s the Alpha and who’s the Beta, huh?”
“But…”
“It’s time for us, Seth. The Red Crescent Moon needs you. We’re all in need of you. Stop being a jerk!”
“I’m afraid I’ll hurt her again.”
“By the Moon Goddess. This isn’t just about your feelings; remember, you are the Alpha. You shouldn’t be this weak. Fight back for her! She’s our Luna.”
Seth considered Jadden’s protest. His words made perfect sense. He has opened Seth’s eyes and mind to be righteous in this moment. Seth decided to take his advice and fight for their Luna and his extraordinary Luna. “Okay, prepare the warriors!”
“Great! That’s the Seth I know.”
This time, his heart felt like it had been hit by a boulder. His whole heart felt shattered into pieces, leaving only a part called hope. He only hoped that the universe was still on his side when time gave up on him.
He left with the five warriors to give Kai a chance to persuade Edith to return to the pack. The rest of the pack probably had to swallow their disappointment that Seth hadn’t managed to bring back Luna. He didn’t know; he felt so useless right now.
Seth should be referred to as the Alpha, who, for a year, was weak and powerless. Without Luna, an Alpha cannot be powerful. Without Edith, he couldn’t be as strong as he is.
Here, Seth stood. In front of the pack house’s double doors. His hand had already opened the door, and his eyes saw the different expressions and gazes of each member.
“Oh… Seth.”
Seth was hugged by his mom. His mom was the first to embrace him to give him strength after his heart was swept away by the storm of rejection. She was indeed someone who had a tender heart and could always empathise with Seth’s feelings. He felt a gentle pat on his back, and he felt comfortable, even if only for a moment.
Then his gaze shifted to a boy who was only half his height. His golden brown hair looked dishevelled, and his face looked sad. He walked over to Seth and grabbed his waist to rest his head on Seth’s stomach.
“I miss her, dad.”
“I feel the same way as you, but we have to give her time. You can still be patient a little longer, right, Julian?”
Julian just nodded weakly. Seth rarely heard him laugh after Edith left our side. He was so sorry for not being able to fulfil his wish. Seth disappointed him.
He saw Jadden and Will also have disappointed looks on their faces, but they still honoured him by giving Seth smiles and encouragement that reflected in their eyes. They were the best friends he ever had.
“I’m so exhausted. I want to rest first, Jadden. The Red Crescent Moon will be off this month. Please confirm this with Supreme Alpha!” Seth said as he walked to his room.
“Yes, Alpha.”
Seth laid himself down on the bed after closing the door. He couldn’t even close his eyes at all. Seth missed Edith so much. He missed her every touch. It was the same with Julian. He really needed his mom. They both needed her.
But Seth hurt her instead, again and again. The dream came true; Seth killed her twice. He didn’t do it on purpose. Even more painful than seeing Edith covered in blood, his woman chose someone else over him.
Seth was lucky; Edith came back to life, but she became a vampire. He should thank Kai for making Edith that way. At least he feels relieved that Edith is still alive.
His daughter,
That’s right. He has a daughter. He saw her earlier. She’s so tiny and beautiful. Her golden brown hair poked out of the sheet wrapped around her body as she was carried in Edith’s arms. Kai calls her Skyler, and he thinks of Seth’s daughter as his own. Seth’s heart broke at their closeness; he should have been there instead of Kai.
He couldn’t reach out to both of them; that’s what made him such a loser. Everything about Edith wasn’t finished yet; it still had to be augmented by the Supreme Alpha’s decision to oblige his father to carry out his orders, which was very demeaning to him. He felt utterly sick of it.
His head felt heavy and like it was going to burst from just thinking about all the trouble that Red Crescent Moon was getting into. He wanted to give up, but he couldn’t because of the heavy burden on his shoulders as pack leader.
The universe was still devoted to Seth, but time was not. For a year, he drifted in a whirl of sadness and emptiness. Time had betrayed Seth and turned its back on him. If that was the case, he wanted to kill time so that it could never play tricks on him again.
Seth woke up from his reverie when he heard a knock on the door. Seth invited her to come in. He saw Jen panting as she approached him at the edge of the bed.
“Seth, there’s something you need to see.”
“Is it something important? I’m so tired, Jen.”
“Of course it’s important! I had to run to find you and get here after Jadden told me you were here.”
“What’s wrong?” I said it flatly.
“Luna Edith is back!”
