“NO… Edith! What have I done to her?”
Seth could only kneel on the ground, looking at the body lying in front of him. His body felt stiff and difficult to move. He wanted to embrace her, but Kai was already pulling him away from Edith.
“You’re always such an arsehole, Seth! You keep on hurting her.” Kai snapped.
“I didn’t mean to hurt her, Kai.”
“I hope she can control herself when she wakes up,” Kai said, which sounded ambiguous to Seth.
“What do you mean, Kai? Edith, I killed her. She had no heartbeat when I touched her earlier.”
“Your anger always makes you lose your mind. I wanted to explain when I was at home, but you dragged me here and made Edith come after me. I’m already very annoyed with you, but you deserve to know everything. Just help me bring her back home!” Kai shifted his form into that of a black wolf and walked ahead of Seth, who was already carrying Edith on his back.
Seth felt Edith’s cold body. His mind was wondering too much about what Edith was up to. He didn’t want to think about the bad things that could happen to Edith, not with things related to death again.
Finally, they arrived at the small, simple house made of wood. Kai shook off the snow that covered his fur before entering the house. They both returned to their original forms.
The warriors who had come with Seth waited in the living room with their hands and feet bound with roots emerging from the floor. The five breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing the arrival of Seth, who was carrying Luna.
“Who did this to you?” asked Seth, his eyes darting around the room.
“Luna did it, Alpha,” replied one of the warriors who was tied up and curled up on the floor.
Seth’s gaze shifted to look at Kai, who was only smiling faintly at the scene that had disrupted his home. Kai, who received a sharp glare from Seth, turned around and ignored him. He would not be intimidated by Seth this time.
He took Edith to the room and laid her on the bed. It took about an hour for Edith to resurrect. Kai would use this opportunity to explain the truth about Edith to Seth.
Kai went around the house looking for baby Juliette, but he couldn’t find her. He walked up to one of the warriors closest to him and asked, Where is Luna’s baby?”
“I don’t know. Luna made it disappear until it was invisible.”
“I see. I want to talk to you, Seth. Remember without any anger. I don’t want my house to become chaotic again if Edith wakes up and goes on a rampage. Your warriors will be freed after Edith awakens.”
“Yes.”
Only a short answer was given because he could not wait to hear an explanation from Kai. Seth tried to hold back his anger to hear Kai speak. He was so curious about Edith, who turned out like everyone else and didn’t recognize him.
“After Edith sacrificed herself for you, I’m looking for all the ways I can bring someone back from the dead, including Edith reversing the curse on you to switch to her. All matters concerning death will be resolved by one means: my blood. The blood of a hybrid, or rather, my vampire blood, will raise any creature from the dead due to unusual circumstances. So, I gave her my blood and took Edith away from the pack because I hate you for not being able to do anything to save her.”
Seth held back his anger. His hands were already clenched, but he had promised not to let his emotions out.
“So Edith came back to life with your blood?” Seth asked for confirmation.
“Yes. She will be fully immortal and will have amnesia as a consequence. She won’t remember you because you caused her death. Some kind of memory fragment is lost due to the effects of bringing someone back from the dead that involve deep trauma. Yeah, it’s probably her human brain that makes such a defense, considering she’s also half-human.”
Kai walked from where he stood to the cabinet with the scotch bottles. Kai picked up one of the bottles displayed there and two glasses. Kai poured the drink into the glasses and gave them to Seth, but Seth did not even bother to offer Kai to him.
“You two…” Seth hung his words.
“I’m already starting to like this topic. What kind of person do you think Edith is?” Kai raised one eyebrow.
“I don’t know. It’s all so confusing. Seeing her kissed you earlier, I was obviously very angry. I fucking wanted to kill you, Kai!”
“Although she did forget about you, her desire for you never faded. Earlier, I was merely baiting you. I merely wanted to teach you a valuable lesson. Edith simply regards me as a friend. The baby you saw earlier was the first time we had intercourse. She is your daughter. Edith was pregnant with her second child at the time she pulled out the dagger from your chest.”
Seth opened his mouth in disbelief. He rubbed his face roughly. A thousand regrets seeped into his soul. He was angry at himself and also grateful for this situation. All the feelings became one in his heart.
“Just so you know, Skyler is the first tribrid in this realm we live in. Skyler is a werewolf because she’s your daughter; she also has magic because her mother is a veela; and she’s also a vampire because Edith was pregnant with her when I gave my blood to Edith. I was grateful to be able to save Edith and her baby at that time. Since then, I’ve made up my mind to hide Edith from you and try to reach her heart, but reality says otherwise. She still loves you, Seth.”
Seth hardened his jaw. He was angry at himself for making Edith the way she was. On the other hand, he felt ashamed that Kai had saved Edith from death.
“Thank you, Kai.”
“I didn’t do it for you. I did it for Edith and Skyler. They are the most important women in my life now that we live together. I’ve always taken care of them both. But I can’t guarantee that won’t happen if Edith’s attitude towards you changes. When she thinks of you, she experiences a headache. I beg you to refrain from pressuring her and to give her space.
“But I must take her back to the pack. They and I especially need their Luna.”
“You can’t act rashly like what just happened. Edith will surely refuse. I suggest you should go back, and I’ll persuade Edith to return to being the Luna she was meant to be.”
Kai exhaled harshly. In the end, he had to listen to Seth with his request to take Edith away from his side. However, Kai had to be willing to let Edith go back to Seth.
“Can I keep your word?” asked Seth suspiciously.
“I promise you,” said Kai.

Edith woke up when she felt warm water on her face. She opened her eyes and saw Kai wiping her face with a towel.
“Feeling better already?” asked Kai with a smile.
Edith threw herself in front of Kai and hugged him tightly. She felt relieved after seeing Kai was fine. Edith loosened her hug and looked at him once they were a little further apart.
“I feel like coming back to life.” Edith chuckled softly.
“Constantly dying and coming back to life brings a different color to your life, doesn’t it?” said Kai.
“I just have to get used to it.”
Her hand waved in the air, and suddenly a baby box appeared on the other side of her bed. Edith straightened up and walked over to her crying baby.
“Your nappies are full, aren’t they?”
Edith’s hand again stretched out in the air, and she snapped her fingers. With just a blink of an eye, she did magic to replace her baby’s nappy with a new one. Edith lifted her and walked towards the window to open the curtains to let in the warm morning sunlight.
Abruptly, Kai heard Edith mutter, “Are you happy to see your father, Juliette?”
