The Alpha, the Luna, and the Hybrid

Book:The ExtraOrdinary Luna Published:2025-3-6

Seth had been thinking hard ever since he heard Kai’s statement about the French vampires hunting for Veela blood. He thought of all the possibilities that could happen, but he couldn’t find out of the woods yet in all the recent events.
His feelings of hatred towards Kai had to be put aside for the time being. He needed as much information about the vampires as possible, so he decided to accept Kai’s offer to live in the pack house for the time being.
Right now, Seth’s mind is so scattered. Jadden’s ritual, which would be held tomorrow, made the werewolves share their duties. Seth also had to think about his pack, and Jadden happened to be his best friend, so he had to focus on his best friend first.
From his work room, Seth could see how Edith was preparing the ritual for Jadden and his mate with the other she-wolves. Since yesterday, Edith has been busy with ritual details that make her pacing back and forth between rooms in the pack house.
“Seth, why don’t we have a ritual like Jadden and his mate?”
The question flashed through Edith’s mind as she stepped into that room to deliver drinks and snacks during the high-ranking wolf discussion.
“Since you were pregnant with Julian at the time, I couldn’t bear to bite your beautiful neck, baby!”
Seth answered calmly, even though he was in the middle of a discussion with the other werewolves, and it made her face redden instantly.
“Seth, be a little serious; you’re talking in front of the werewolves.” Edith said this after managing to calm herself down from embarrassment.
“I’m serious. Later, you can see for yourself how the ritual process takes place.”
“Is that true? Sorry, Alpha, if what I said was wrong!” Edith looked at the werewolves for confirmation of her question.
Edith saw everyone nodding with a smile. Edith thought they were all nodding out of fear of Seth, not because of the actual facts.
“If you’ll excuse me, please resume,” said Edith as she bowed half of her body.
“No need to bow, baby. You have a higher status than them!”
Edith just grinned, then turned to leave them all behind. On her way back to the main kitchen, Edith passed by Kai, who had just come out of there.
“Edith, can we talk?” Kai asked in a pleading tone.
Edith stopped her steps at that moment. She also felt uncomfortable with the inconvenience that occurred after the incident a few days ago. Edith exhaled slowly and turned around.
“What’s wrong, Kai?”
“I wanted to apologise to you for everything. I was also tormented by my own feelings. I reactivated my humanity after starting school at Abberforth, so I became who I am today. I kept my feelings for you inside. I don’t want our friendship to become awkward like this either. Don’t make my feelings for you a burden to you.”
“I don’t feel burdened. I just feel angry that you lied; that’s all.”
Edith felt relieved that she had spoken her mind at this moment. She couldn’t help but wonder what was wrong with her that every man had to lie just to be close to her.
Seth used to have to lie to get close to her, even indirectly, and now Kai, whom she thought was a good and sincere friend, could lie to her. She thought she had an extra supply of patience because Edith forgave them both in the end.
“Are you still angry right now… at me?” asked Kai, who wanted to be absolutely sure.
“No, it’s probably because I’m preoccupied with this werewolf ritual thing,” Edith replied innocently.
“Please, Edith. I only want to be your friend if I can’t win your heart.”
“You’re like a dog that lost its bone!”
“I am a dog-a blood-sucking dog. Whatever you want to call me,” Kai sighed.
“You’re a man; you should have some self-respect instead of begging like that.”
“So, are you still angry?”
Kai followed Edith, who was walking into the kitchen. Edith chuckled in her heart at Kai, who put aside his embarrassment as the omegas in the room stared at him.
“No, you’re such a nag. Please leave; you’re the only man here, Kai.”
“Yes, thanks, mate. I was just here earlier too.”
Edith narrowed her eyes at Kai. She wondered what Kai was doing in the kitchen. But Edith soon found out because she saw Emma, who was stirring meat soup in a big pot.
“You guys are okay, right?” asked Edith.
“Yup, we talked,” Kai said briefly.
“And Seth, he allowed you to stay here for a while, right? He must have a good reason to allow his rival to be close to his wife.”
Edith did not want to feel the continued awkwardness. She wanted everything to be fine without any problems. After all, Red Crescent Moon was Kai’s home in the past.
“He needed information about Mikael, so he allowed me to stay here. Um, detained me, to be more precise. Is he fierce with you, Edith? I see he’s very arrogant; all werewolves fear him, just like his grandfather used to.”
“None of your business, Kai. You deserve it; you’re a person who can piss off anyone because of your multiple personalities, and he’s my husband; don’t talk rubbish about him!”
“Hey blonde lady, you’re so sarcastic. I may be broken, but I still have feelings. Being a damn hybrid is not easy; it’s so damaging to my brain and soul.”
Edith rolled her eyes. She stuffed the meatball that was in her hand into Kai’s mouth to gag his mouth, which had been open all this time. Kai chewed it roughly, then swallowed it as fast as he could to start talking again.
“Does this taste really good?”
“I don’t know; I don’t know the name. Emma made it; I just changed the container.”
“What are you doing?” asked a loud voice in the kitchen doorway.
“Are you asking me or your wife?”
“Are you a moron?” snapped Seth with a murderous glare at Kai.
“I was asking about the meatball your wife just put in my mouth,” Kai replied casually.
“You never spoon-fed me, Luna Edith?”
Seth was already in jealous mode at the moment. He looked at Kai like his prey was ready to be pounced upon by him.
“I was annoyed with him because he kept talking. I was preparing food for the ritual, but he kept following me around, so I just stuffed his mouth.”
Seth had already shifted into his wolf form. He growled at Kai, who was still casually leaning against the counter. Not without warning, Kai immediately ran quickly without being seen by Edith to leave the room and was immediately followed by Seth, who was already moving his four legs.
“Let them be. I begged Seth not to kill Kai, so they’ll just have a duel. It happens to be a full moon night; Kai must have shifted into wolf form,” Emma said as she patted the back of Edith, who looked worried earlier.
[Are you challenging me, Kai?] asked Seth after they were in the front yard of the pack house.
[I can hear you, Seth. Does this mean I’ve been accepted into Red Crescent Moon? And no, I don’t like fighting like you. I’m just defending myself with my wolf form] Kai replied.
[Quiet, you fucking loser! I know you can’t fight me with that sort of reasoning.].
[Not really. I just don’t want to see Edith become indecisive after seeing you hurt me. She will definitely lose. Her compassion is my advantage, Seth.]
