Malcolm’s expression froze for a second before he nodded, “Hmm… alright. I’ll keep you updated on any movements from B7, and don’t worry about the final payment. I’ve got it all arranged.”
Rosalind responded, “Then I’ll be leaving now.”
“Did you drive yourself?”
“Yes.”
Malcolm waved his hand. “Drive safely on your way back. Remember to ice your ankle so it doesn’t swell up tomorrow.”
He watched as Rosalind got into her car, a slight smile playing on his lips.
Malcolm knew that Rosalind would never bring Ulric to the cemetery.
That man would never have the right to visit her mother’s grave as a son-in-law.
Though Malcolm himself would never visit in that capacity either.
…
Rosalind drove back to Easthaven Bay and instinctively looked to see if Ulric’s car was there.
Seeing the black Maybach parked steadily in the garage, she felt slightly relieved.
It wasn’t that she felt guilty for anything she had done. She just thought it might upset Ulric if he saw her arriving at the cemetery with Malcolm after she had told him not to come.
She entered the house and changed into slippers at the entrance.
Rosalind could hear the children’s laughter upstairs, but there was no sound of Ulric.
Was he in the bedroom?
Rosalind walked into the master bedroom and looked around but found no one there.
She went upstairs, thinking Ulric might be playing with the children, but he wasn’t there either.
“Where’s your dad?” Rosalind asked Jake.
“I don’t know. He was with us for a while earlier, but then he said he had something important to do and kept checking the time. He didn’t stay long.”
“Did he say where he was going?”
Jake shook his head, “No.”
“Alright, you two keep playing. Mommy will go call your dad.”
Rosalind went downstairs and called Ulric.
After a few rings, someone finally answered. It was Cedric.
“Mrs. Walters-uh, I mean, Ms. Ruell. Mr. Walters is in a meeting. Do you need something?”
“Is he at the office?”
“Yes, and the meeting might take a while longer. If it’s urgent, you can tell me and I’ll inform Mr. Walters.”
Hearing that Ulric was at the office, Rosalind quickly said, “It’s nothing urgent! You go ahead.”
“Alright, Ms. Ruell.”
After hanging up, Rosalind went back to her room to change clothes and take a shower. She thought about checking flights back to Sweden once Ulric returned.
She didn’t want to waste this last bit of time they could spend alone together and wanted to leave behind all these troubles by going to Sweden.
…
Tilda shouldn’t have believed Johnny’s words.
He promised he wouldn’t touch her. After they got back to his place, he let her sleep for a bit, but then…
They were up half the night.
It was almost noon by the time she woke up!
Her legs were trembling so much she could barely stand when she got out of bed.
Johnny wasn’t in the bedroom anymore. She didn’t know where he was, so Tilda took a shower first before going out to find him.
As soon as she opened the door, she could hear Johnny in the living room talking about work.
At this moment, Johnny looked somewhat charismatic, wearing a suit jacket while discussing a project fluently in a foreign language with someone on a video call. But below… he was wearing sky-blue shorts.
Tilda didn’t disturb him and went to pour herself a glass of water.
After a while, Johnny ended his video call and pouted, “I don’t know what’s gotten into Ulric. Why did he suddenly return to work at the office? Now I have to work overtime!”
