Pollux PoV
I heard a loud thud. When I opened my eyes, I saw Castor clawing at the face of one of the pale-blonde men. The man was sprawled on the ground, with Castor’s wolf form pinning his legs and arms.
I saw bloodied fangs in Castor’s mouth. In less than a minute, Castor severed the man’s neck with his bites. He threw the man’s head to the ground right in front of me.
[Watch out!]
Before I could turn to see what was happening, Castor leaped at a woman clad in a tight black leather outfit with flowing straw-blonde hair. Castor’s fight with her gave me just enough time to stand.
[Find Godiva! I can sense her presence.] Castor yelled at me.
With all my strength, I forced my legs to move. Castor bit the calf of the woman who was trying to approach me. I had to find Godiva, but everything felt blurry, and I couldn’t pinpoint her whereabouts. I heard Castor commanding me to run.
Was Godiva still alive?
I ran as fast as I could. Occasionally, I looked back to check on Castor. I saw him incapacitate the blonde woman before chasing after me. Castor was just five feet behind. We continued running toward a hill with a solitary large tree at the top.
Another loud thud stopped me in my tracks. Castor lay on the ground, a gaping wound on his back. A silvery liquid seeped out of the injury.
“NO!” I screamed.
[Find her quickly and protect our Luna!]
“No, Castor. Hang in there. I’ll carry you away from here; we need to retreat.”
[No. I’m the only one who can hold them back.]
The vampires seemed endless. The second wave after Virgil’s escape was relentless, spearheaded by the blonde woman. We were overwhelmed, even with the alliance forces assisting us.
This was exactly like my dream back then. The tension and fear I felt now, Godiva’s absence-it all had haunted me before, but I chose to ignore it. I despised this vision of mine.
Thankfully, Pippo arrived to help after breaking through the newly assembled line of vampires with his agility. He was an asset in both his human and wolf forms. His quickness has always been my favorite trait.
[Alpha Pollux, I can distract them while you save Alpha Castor.] Pippo nodded toward the northern line of vampires approaching us.
“Do it, Pippo! I’ll move as quickly as I can.”
I decided to carry Castor to the high cliffs where Godiva had gone earlier. It was hard to admit that she might no longer be with us. While Castor groaned in pain in my back, I quickened my steps, my mind a chaotic swirl of emotions.
“Castor, brother. Listen to me. I’ll save you, even if it costs me my life. Stay awake. I’ll find Godiva like you asked.”
[Trust me, she’s still alive. I can feel it.]
“Yes, we’ll get through this together. The three of us, okay?”
Castor blinked his yellow eyes at me. He looked battered, his back wounded by silver bullets fired by the Death Sanguine. But my faith in him never wavered. He was the strongest in Moonstone after our father.
Just as I prepared to descend the cliff, I heard a voice calling me. A soft voice, one that always pierced through my ego. When I turned, Godiva stood there, looking completely different.
“Alpha…”
I froze. Castor had been right-Godiva was still alive. What stunned me most was that she looked like an exact replica of the Moon Goddess.
“Welcome back, Godiva? Or… Moon Goddess?”
I wasn’t sure what I was seeing. They looked identical, yet Godiva no longer had her distinctive scent. My curiosity got the better of me, and I approached her, sniffing deeply.
“Did you struggle without me, Pollux?”
“Finally, you speak. You nearly gave me a heart attack. You look just like your mother, but… hotter.”
“Surprise!”
“Look, Castor! Our Luna is back!” I yelled spontaneously.
I didn’t care if I sounded ridiculous. Seeing Godiva alive and well filled me with joy. She was different now, captivating in a way I couldn’t fully explain. The toga she wore barely concealed her curvy figure. I silently vowed to the Moon Goddess that if we won this battle, I’d f*ck her for myself.
Castor tried to stand, but the silver liquid had severely damaged the muscle tissue in his back. He fell again. I bit his scruff to help him rise, so he could see our dazzling Godiva. It was then I realized that time around us had slowed.
“What the hell is happening? Time is slowing down…”
“I just wanted to make a difference. This was my father’s idea,” Godiva said with a smile, her presence becoming even more enthralling.
I didn’t know what force had brought Godiva back, but ever since deciphering the carvings in the temple, I’d believed one thing: she wouldn’t die as easily as the inscriptions claimed.
As I stood on the cliff’s edge, I resolved that this war had to be won by us-the werewolves. Every wolf who had fallen in the battle below would not have sacrificed their lives in vain. With Godiva’s return, I hoped her presence would ignite the spirit needed by our remaining pack.
[Luna Godiva, they will faithfully follow your orders,] Castor said, raising his head toward her.
[I need confidence to do this. I hope I can.] Her hands trembled as she cupped her mouth.
“We’re with you, Luna. The three of us will see this through,” I assured her.
[But Virgil escaped.]
“He’ll pay for it one day,” I said firmly, trying to boost her confidence.
She nodded. Moments later, I felt a powerful aura radiate from her. Her voice echoed through the air, overpowering the sounds of the battle below. The wolves below howled in unison, responding to the call of the strongest Luna ever known. They moved in a perfect pace, ready to dominate the battlefield.
Godiva extended her arms. As time returned to normal, a single sweep of her hands obliterated the remaining vampires below. The shockwave of her semi-divine werewolf power flattened the bloodsuckers entirely.
“With one move of your hand, you did all this? I guess I’d better not get on your bad side, sweet pea,” I teased, only half-joking.
Angering her now would be my death sentence. I shifted back into my human form, along with Castor, who finally collapsed onto the ground. Covered in dirt and blood from the earlier battle, I didn’t care. I pulled Godiva into a tight embrace, determined never to let her go again.
“Don’t let go yet. I want to make others jealous.”
“You’re suffocating her, Pol.” Castor complained against me.
“Oh, right. Go ahead, brother. You deserve a hug too.”
Godiva didn’t answer me but cradled Castor in her arms instead. I saw tears in her eyes, though she smiled down at her mate. If only human technology could capture this moment, it would surely be the most unforgettable memory.
“We did it. The three of us made it, Alphas.”
