All by Myself

“I need some fresh air.”
While in a car, I couldn’t stop thinking about that obnoxious woman. I requested the female driver, Nives, to pull over. I got out of the car and walked to the city park.
Two warriors followed me but remained at a distance. I told them not to draw the attention of the people in the park. I discovered a long white painted bench and sat on it.
Having always been inside the mansion for a long, it made me miss the days when I would always drive over to the park to rest after delivering pizza. Seeing the boys skateboarding or little girls sulked before their father to buy some sweets was enough to brighten my mood after a long day. While sipping fresh lemonade on a sweltering afternoon, I reviewed the list of orders I had completed and the list of new orders that had arrived on my phone.
I was content with the way things were, yet I longed for a normal human life. I was daydreaming about the past when I heard someone shout. I noticed a little girl about four years old getting ready to cross the street without her parents.
“Lizzie, stop!”
My wolf’s senses immediately sensed the movement of a speeding car on the main road. I heard the rumbling of the car’s exhaust, followed by the screeching of tires on asphalt.
My instincts told me to instantly assist the little one who was already in the center of the road. I dashed to her. With all of my effort, I drew her body into my arms.
There was momentum just as the car body smacked my right arm, and we tumbled down onto the road. All I could hear were the little girl’s shivering cries afterward.
“Oh, thank you, Jesus. You saved Lizzie. Are you okay, Miss?”
I heard a male voice kneeling in front of me. I immediately handed the little girl over and stood up. I felt a little pain in my head, elbow, and knee.
The two warriors accompanying me immediately checked on me. My pain lasted only a few seconds, and I didn’t feel anything else. I nodded quickly to the two warriors to reassure them that I was fine.
“Miss Fletcher, is that you? Do you remember me?”
“Yeah, it’s me. I’m okay. I remember you, Declan Clark-cappuccino and tiramisu guy. Where’s the kid? Is she injured?” I glance around me.
“She’s fine-thanks to you. She’s already in the car with her nanny.”
“Thanks to the Moon… I mean, thank God she’s okay. I’m glad to hear that.”
“The wound on your head…” he paused as he looked at my head.
I’d almost forgotten about it. Declan must have seen my wound slowly healing. I turned away from him and pretended to still be in pain.
“It’s just a little pain. I’ll treat it at home.”
“I almost didn’t recognize you. You changed your look.”
I didn’t want him to find out the truth when he saw my wound. Getting hit by a car without getting hurt would be a question for everyone. I tidied up my clothes from the dirt and intended to leave this place soon.
“Sorry, I have to leave soon.”
“Wait, I want to thank you.”
“I’m happy to help you guys, but I have to go.”
I half ran back to the car. I was sure that the two warriors must have cleaned things up to leave no trace. I asked Nives to speed up the car so we could get to the mansion faster.
I admit that I was panicking earlier. I didn’t know how to hide our identity as werewolves among the humans. It’s good that I have to ask Castor about this.
I nodded my head quickly and said little in response to the members I passed on my way to my room. I locked the door tightly as the panic effect was still running through my brain. I looked in the mirror and examined my wounds carefully, leaving no marks and only blood on my clothes.
I asked Trisha to come to my room through the mind link. While I changed my clothes, I thought about what had happened earlier. I didn’t expect to see Declan again. For all I knew, he’d left his apartment when I heard he’d married his fiancee outside Burze.
Trisha arrived five minutes later. I told her about what happened earlier, and she took my entire story seriously without interrupting. I didn’t have another woman to talk to other than her. At least my heart felt more relieved after pouring out my experience today.
“Would you like to take a warm bath with lavender essences, Luna?”
“I think that’s a good idea. Do you want to bathe together?”
“I’m not fit to bathe with you. The Omegas have their own place to clean themselves. I’ll just keep you company from outside the bathtub.”
“Are Alpha Castor and Alpha Pollux at the mansion?”
“Only Alpha Pollux, Luna Godiva. Alpha Pollux just returned home right before you. Alpha Castor left the mansion in the afternoon and hasn’t returned yet.”
I didn’t want to meet Pollux. Given everything that bitch said, I was going to lock the room in anticipation of Pollux not seeing me. I’m sure he won’t dare to break down the door because the two warriors must have reported today’s activities to him.
I planted my feet roughly on the floor. Trisha gave me an astonished look, but she didn’t speak. She kept doing her job by stripping my clothes and preparing warm water for me to bathe in.
The warmth of the water recharges my energy. Coupled with the soothing scent of lavender flowers, I closed my eyes to enjoy the sensation. The gentle massage of Trisha’s hands on my shoulders relaxed me even more.
“Trisha, do you have a mate?” I asked to break the silence.
“Yes, I have one.”
“Is he an omega too?” I asked quickly.
“No, Luna.”
“Then who is he?”
“Sorry, Luna. “Sorry, Luna. He instructed me not to discuss this with anyone.”
“Why is that?”
“He will tell Alpha Castor and Alpha Pollux personally first.”
I understand and I won’t force Trisha to tell me. It’s their right and I respect it. After all, Castor had told me about the mating season. Maybe everything would be revealed then.
I asked Trisha to leave me alone and told her to lock my bedroom door. Just as I closed my eyes for a few moments, a hand caressing my face already startled me. My head almost sank into the water as I was surprised to see Pollux crouching on the edge of the bathtub.
He smiled at me, then said, “You did great, Luna. I’m proud you made it through today on your own.”
