Godiva PoV.
“Alfonso, I missed you.”
I rushed to him like a dog that had just met its master from a long trip. I loved the smell of cheese on his body and the spilled tomato sauce on his apron. With a big smile, Alfonso looked at me until his tears welled up.
I had asked Mauricio for permission to engage Alfonso in conversation until another chef could temporarily replace his job. I ordered a pan pizza for us to eat while we chatted.
“Is there an important event today?” I asked, after swallowing a slice of pizza.
“Yeah, shooting a music video. Mauricio was very happy when one of the famous music producers and model managers contacted him to shoot at this restaurant. He gave a full-time bonus to all the employees just for this day. Do you know Benedetta Darin? She’s a model who will be shooting here,” said Alfonso.
“Uhm, never heard of her.” I shook my head vigorously.
“Let’s just talk about this beautiful woman. You are getting more and more charming with your new look, Godiva. Are you happy now?”
“I am happy. What about you?”
“Sure I am. I’m now accompanied by a pug. I found him on the street on my way to the supermarket near my apartment.”
Alfonso took out his cell phone from his pants pocket and showed me a picture of the brown pug he had found. The dog looked adorable. I was grateful that Alfonso had a friend in his apartment.
The old man needs a friend to watch football with him, or go fishing on his days off, or just take a warm bath together. It’s about time he enjoyed his days with color. Maybe if I wasn’t married, I’d visit him more often.
“Hey, why the sad look on your face?” Alfonso rubbed the back of my hand.”Nothing. I miss working here and having you always there to support me.”
“Godiva, listen to me. You already have the happiness you desire. I will be alright since life moves on without us looking back. I got what Alfonso was saying. Alfonso was correct; my current life is exactly what I desired. Alfonso had no idea I had two husbands, or that I was a werewolf. We spoke casually until I heard a woman curse in rage. I turned my head to the voice and saw a tall, lanky blonde woman scolding Lucas, a waiter who I knew had only been working at the restaurant for a few months.
I approached them and noticed spilled coffee on the floor and on the woman’s clothes. I heard a clatter of steps behind me and figured Mauricio was ready to take control of the situation. He apologized to the woman and instructed Lucas to wipe up the spilled coffee on the floor.
“I want you to change my stained clothes.” I pressed the woman to Mauricio in a disdainful tone of voice.
“We apologize, Miss Darin. We will change it right away.”
“I thought this was too much.”
I walked into their midst and glanced at the woman. We exchanged stares for a few moments before she pointed at me.
“What are you looking at?” She questioned me sarcastically.
“I believe it’s our fault, but you can ask for a refund of the laundry fee instead of asking for a refund of your clothes.”
“Did I ask for your opinion?”
“Who is the woman?”
She questioned a man standing next to her. The man simply shook his head as he glanced at me. I took my wallet from my bag and meant to assist Mauricio with his laundry bills.
“I’ll reimburse you for the laundry, miss.”
The woman whispered to the man next to her. She lifted one eyebrow and sat in the chair he had pulled out. At the very least, she showed a willingness to deal with the situation.
“I didn’t bring any cash; please use this card for the laundry price. I will cover everything.” I pulled out one of the card Pollux had given me.
The man took the card out of my hand and showed it to the woman. The woman’s expression changed instantaneously. She gave me a stern glance.
“I’d like some alone time with this woman.”
I wasn’t sure why she said that. The woman glanced at each of the people around us as if she were the owner of this restaurant. She got up from her chair and approached me after everyone else had left and there were only the two of us.
“It’s nice to meet you, Mrs. Melucci. I am Benedetta Darin. Perhaps one of them stated my name. Pollux? ” Or Castor?”
I stood up to better see her face. “I apologize, Miss Darin. I have no idea what you are talking about.”
“This was entirely unexpected. Pollux never said my name to his wife. He must not truly consider you his wife. I am not a secret to be kept, though.”
I was still guessing what she meant. She strolled around me, looking from head to toe. She grumbled angrily and halted square in front of me again.
“What a coincidence to meet here. Tell me, does Pollux treat his wife gently, or is he really sensuous during mating? I recall him speaking with seductive words and making you melt when he looked at you truly. Pollux loved me very much, and we…”
I gave a gasp. Everything that woman said matched what Pollux had done to me. I could feel the rage steadily boiling over.
“Quit talking, bitch!” I cut off her words.
I growled at her. I wanted to tear her tongue out so she couldn’t speak. I disliked the way she compared me to her.
She was a woman from Pollux’s past. I vividly recall Castor telling me about her, but not mentioning her name. I wanted to leave it quickly and have nothing to do with her, but she kept taunting me.
“Are you fuckin’ jealous?”
“Shut up or I’ll rip your throat out!”
Although it was my first time shifting, I was quite confident that I would be able to fight her if we had to duel. I didn’t want to be compared, and I didn’t want to be underestimated by her.
I took a step forward to give her a warning. I was prepared for any eventuality.
“You know what, bitch? Your words of poison won’t sway me. I’ll make sure that’s the last thing you say to me.”
I aligned my face with hers. With a growl that I let out, I used my nails to carve the stains on her clothes into long rips. For a moment, I saw a flash of yellow in her eyes.
I reciprocated by doing the same. I was satisfied when she staggered back and turned to pick up her handbag from the floor. I also heard her swear harshly as she walked out of the restaurant to the van parked outside.
I cheered to myself inwardly for successfully intimidating her. Grateful that I had the power of a werewolf, I could make that woman’s guts shrink. I picked up Pollux’s card that was on the table and put it back into my bag.
Alfonso came straight to me when the woman didn’t come out of the van anymore. I still had Alfonso to soothe me after what happened just now. He always noticed that I was holding in my frustration, and in return, he rubbed my back until I could smile again.
She stayed in her van even though the shooting at the restaurant was still going on when I said goodbye to Alfonso. I didn’t care, and for me, it was better because I didn’t have to see her haughty face.
‘She thinks she can make me jealous; what a slut.’
