“Are you mad at me?”
I didn’t speak as I walked towards the closet. Although Pollux followed me, I remained silent without answering. I was still upset with him and Benedetta.
Even though I thought I could handle it myself, my heart was still choked up. I didn’t like the way she compared her to me. Even though she was already the past to Pollux, I could still imagine their relationship back then.
I picked up my pink pajama suit and turned around. I wanted to ask Pollux to come out of the walk-in closet so I could get dressed. I exhaled harshly when I saw Pollux’s confused-looking face.
“At least speak up, Godiva. I’m not my mother who can read other minds. Don’t frustrate me by breaking down like that.” Pollux raised his voice.
Pollux approached me. Before he touched my shoulder, I had already taken a step back. I couldn’t look at Pollux’s pleading face like that, but I also wanted him to know that I was mad at him.
“I need to get dressed; please come out for a moment, Alpha.”
“What? Didn’t I hear you incorrectly? You told me to come out. This is wrong.” Pollux ruffled his hair and looked at me.
“You heard me, Alpha Pollux. I asked you to step outside for a moment.”
I asked him in as polite a tone as possible. I nodded my head towards the sliding door, and finally Pollux stepped out. I dressed as quickly as possible and tried to catch my breath before exiting the walk-in closet.
“Your ex-mate-whatever you call her-is trying to heat me up by telling me about your past relationship. If you had told me first, maybe I wouldn’t have been this upset with you. It feels like I can’t control the situation. No one told me that I was standing on thin ice and could sink into cold water.” I let out all my emotions.
“So you trusted her?”
“Who should I trust when I don’t know you guys? Especially you; you never told me details about your past. I’m trying to live with you, but it’s only going to go one way if I can’t handle things myself.”
“Do you want to know the truth?”
“Yes.” I answered firmly.
“Me, Castor, Alvise, and Benedetta went to a specialized werewolf academy. Blaze told me that Benedetta was my mate after she and her family came to Burze. We had a bond until we graduated from the academy. Me, Castor, and Alvise managed Moonstone while Benedetta achieved her dream of becoming a supermodel. Three years ago, she had an affair with a human from her profession, and I rejected her.”
I listened to Pollux’s story about Benedetta’s true self. There was no indication in any of Pollux’s words that he was comparing me to her. I thought three years was enough time for Pollux to move on from her. I accepted his reason.
I was curious about his wolf’s side when he sensed Benedetta as his mate. How wolves could determine their mates was beyond my human reasoning. When I felt Castor’s touch for the first time, I thought it was normal.
“How about the first time you-I mean, Blaze designated Benedetta as your mate?” I asked, looking into his eyes.
“The same time, I was told by Blaze that my second chance would be both of our mates-me and Castor. Back then, Blaze was only forwarded by Blake-Castor’s wolf’s side, and once I sniffed your sweet pea scent that night, I lost control.”
“Interesting.” I touched my chin as I smiled slightly.
“You’re not angry anymore?”
I shook my head firmly and then nodded when Pollux confirmed it by asking again. He brought himself closer by sitting beside me. I responded by flashing him a smile.
A few minutes of pause, and Pollux was already baiting me with seductive words. Even without him doing that, I would have and will always fall for his seduction. I’m going to try one thing because I want to make a difference.
“I Am Godiva Fletcher, The Moon Goddess’s Descendant. Requesting you, Alpha Pollux Melluci, to serve me tonight.”
“What?” Pollux raised one eyebrow.
I grinned at Pollux. I’ve been wanting to play a prank on him ever since we were boxing the other day. I’d make him serve me tonight.
“I want a massage.”
“I guess… ah, never mind.”
Pollux started massaging my feet. It feels so good because the heels I’ve been wearing all day are making my feet sore. I kept myself busy by fiddling with my phone and browsing the latest news in the human world.
I snorted roughly as I saw the reel that appeared on my homepage. Benedetta appeared as a model in the teaser of a music video that I neither knew nor followed. I immediately swiped the screen and searched for other news.
News about politics came after Benedetta, and I wasn’t interested at all. Entertainment and celebrity news didn’t interest me either. Isn’t there any interesting news?
Suddenly, someone sent me a direct message. I opened it and read the approval message for the follow request. I opened the profile, but the person locked the account.
Out of curiosity, I approved the request message. I saw an unfamiliar account name because it was a combination of consonants without vowels. The profile picture posted was just a picture of a cactus tree.
A soft plop sound came from my phone. I saw an incoming message from the same account. I opened it and read the message from the account.
‘Godiva, it’s me, Declan. Thank you for responding to me. I was looking for you from the Mauricio’s Pizza account. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Are you okay?’
I messaged him back and told him how I was without wanting to worry him. I also asked about the little girl I saved earlier. He sent me a picture of the girl sleeping on the bed.
“Who are you messaging, Godiva?” Pollux’s voice startled me.
“With Declan. He asked about my condition. I was in a hurry to get home so he wouldn’t get suspicious of my injuries,” I replied casually.
“Who’s Declan?”
“He’s a customer at the restaurant.” I replied as I typed a message.
“Are humans always like that? Sending messages at night for nothing?”
I put down my phone. Pollux’s voice sounded flat and cold. He also stopped his massaging action.
“Not all humans do it. Only some are familiar.”
“Who’s Declan?”
“I told you he’s a customer at the restaurant… Wait, are you jealous?”
I saw Pollux’s face tighten. He was gazing at me just like Castor when he didn’t want to be contradicted. What’s wrong with Pollux, who is usually always insensitive?
“Turn off your cell phone. It’s already late. You’d better get some sleep.”
“Alpha Pollux, I ask you not to be misunderstood.”
“Do as I say, Luna Godiva!”
Pollux ordered me in his Alpha voice. I immediately turned off my cell phone and pulled up the blanket without being able to argue. I watched Pollux with the corner of my eye as he turned off the key light and walked out of my room.
I’ve never seen such a dark aura from Pollux before. He didn’t answer my question and immediately locked onto me with his Alpha aura. I got goosebumps even though he was already out of my room.
“Is he jealous?”
