Pollux PoV.
‘Pippo, come quickly!’
I called out to Godiva, who was collapsing in my arms. Her body was oozing sweat and looked a mess, with wide rips on her clothes. Damn humans! She harmed my mate. I would make her feel the consequences. One cut from my claws wasn’t enough to teach him a lesson.
Pippo came with Loris, our warrior, who was also the restaurant manager. I nodded my head to Pippo to take care of the damn human lying unconscious behind me. I also asked Loris to find a coat or something to cover Godiva’s exposed body.
‘I’m ordering the details of this female human. Bring her to the apartment, and I’ll take care of her myself later! Clean up this mess, and I need the car keys, Pippo.’
I received the car keys from Pippo and waited for Loris. Seeing Godiva messed up like this really made me angry. I usually didn’t care about anyone. Was it because of the imprint?
I’ve never felt the pain I’ve been experiencing since this morning until now. Even with Benedetta, I felt fine when we fought. I’m curious about everything that happened.
I started with Godiva. I should find out who she really is because an ordinary human wouldn’t have an imprint this strong. Then to the damn female human who had been taken care of by Pippo.
“Alpha Pollux, we have this coat for Luna Godiva.”
“Thank you, Loris. Clear my way to the car.”
Once again, I asked Loris to give me access to exit the restaurant without attracting attention. We had deliberately built a special passageway for access in case we had to shift into wolf form.
Behind me, Loris asked his staff to clean up the corridor leading to the exit access. After receiving confirmation, I immediately picked up Godiva and moved quickly to where Castor’s car was.
During the journey, I occasionally checked on Godiva, who was lying on the passenger seat. She saw me clawing at her, and I became agitated by it. I lost control when I saw that she insulted Godiva.
No one, let alone a human, should insult my mate.
I heard a notification from my cell phone. I would check it later. Now I must take Godiva to Cian as soon as possible.
I passed through Highway 42 to get to the hospital where Cian practiced as a neurologist in the central district. It’s the same place where the Melucci family’s money laundering practice is held to mingle with humans. Only Cian, the pack doctor, and a few warriors from Moonstone secured the hospital area. The rest of the human employees were Castor and me.
I stopped my car right in front of the emergency room entrance. As I carried Godiva into the building, I shouted Cian Pontrelli’s name to the duty doctor who was examining one of the patients on the gurney.
“Please get me, doctor Cian; Godiva Fletcher needs his help.”
The duty doctor took a quick look at Godiva and led me to lay Godiva down on one of the gurneys. Then he spoke to the patient, and after getting a nodding response from the patient, the doctor walked to his desk to pick up the receiver.
I pulled out a chair to sit on the edge of the gurney as I looked straight at Godiva. I touched her hand and hoped that she would be alright. Is this all because I was too rash and emotional?
Not long after, Cian came in the white doctor’s outfit and bowed to me. He pulled the curtains to surround the gurney. I explained the details of the incident to Cian, and he nodded quickly. He attached a necklace-like device to his ears and pressed the rounded end against Godiva’s chest.
After opening Godiva’s eyes and shining a flashlight on her, Cian then looked at me.
“Luna Godiva is just in shock. She is fine. I will give her vitamins to raise her blood pressure, which is too low. Has she been too stressed or tired these past few days?”
“I think so. Our world might be too shocking for her. Cian, do the best you can for her. I’m worried because she has too many scars.”
“Yes, Alpha Pollux.”
Even though Cian only answered briefly, I still felt relieved because we were indeed very dependent on him. I wanted Godiva to wake up soon so that I could apologize to her properly.
Wait! Why would I care? It feels like I don’t even recognize myself anymore. Ever since I made her cry in the car earlier, I felt a tightness in my chest. I could barely breathe, and my heart felt like it was being squeezed tightly.
As soon as Godiva stopped crying, the sensation disappeared on its own. Now, sitting there, waiting for Godiva to come to her senses, made me realize one thing. I was ignoring the fact that she was my mate. We were connected to each other.
“Mmhh…”
I heard Godiva’s voice dragging softly. I raised my head and saw Godiva open her eyes slowly. She looked straight at the ceiling, then glanced up at me.
I felt her fingers move in my hand. Startled by the movement of her hand, I gripped her hand even tighter. I didn’t want her to further misunderstand me.
“How does it feel?” I asked.
“Am I dead?”
“No, you’re not. You just fainted, and you’re in the hospital now. Castor will be here soon.”
“You scared me.”
“Sorry, I lost control earlier, but you can trust me. I would never hurt you. Neither of us wants to cause you harm or injury. I hope you can give us a chance.”
“Kayleigh…”
I explained the situation of the woman named Kayleigh to Godiva. I could not guess Godiva’s thoughts; all I saw was her flat and somewhat unreadable expression. I was sure there was something between them.
“Kayleigh is my cousin. Is she okay?”
“How can you keep thinking about others who have hurt you while you are here, just waking up from a swoon with the rest of your clothes almost exposing your body? Are humans always like this?”
I raised my voice to criticize her. Her body was covered in scars, and I heard her own cousin insult her. I couldn’t wrap my head around Godiva’s thinking.
“She’s still my cousin, and you hurt her.”
“She insulted you. I don’t like my friend being insulted like that. If you’re cousins, she should have been nice to you.”
“Can you be gentle when you talk to me? You’re scaring me more and more.”
I gasped as I saw Godiva tightly squeeze the blanket over her stomach. This is wrong! I did scare her. I quickly took a deep breath and kissed her hand.
“Forgive me, Luna Godiva. Your cousin is in our apartment right now. She’s doing well. Would you like to meet her?” I said it in a softer tone.
“Not anytime soon. I’m still angry with her. Let her go home, because I’ll take care of my own business. I know you’re angry, but she’s my relative too; we grew up together.”
“Have you always had such a big heart?”
