I walked behind Pollux. It’s the first time in my life that I’ve been to a high-end restaurant like this. We were greeted by a guard at the entrance who bowed to Pollux.
Did everyone in this town know Pollux? Everyone knows and respects him so much that it makes me shrink even more. When the guard saw me, he bowed to me as well.
I reflexively followed his movements because I got carried away. With a quick movement, Pollux shrugged my shoulders and said, “There’s no need to bow back. They all respect me, and everyone beside me will get it too. Straighten up!”
“Welcome, Alpha Pollux. We have reserved a room for you,” said the guard.
“We do not wish to be disturbed.”
“Yes, Alpha Pollux.”
I looked at every detail in the restaurant, from the decor to the patrons and even the staff. Every employee of this restaurant must have immediately bowed when we passed by. Stepping confidently, I kept smiling at all of them.
We arrived at a closed room. One side featured a garden view bordered by glass. I took a seat facing the glass so I could see the garden.
It was so sunny outside that I could clearly see a butterfly resting on one of the flowers in the garden. I heard the door slide open and reveal two men and women. One of them was carrying two large, dark bottles.
“We have some new wine. I hope you and your friends like it.”
“Good, and call her Luna Godiva; she’s my mate and your Luna.”
“Forgive our ignorance, Alpha Pollux, Luna Godiva.”
“Well, that’s okay. You don’t know,” I said to break the ice.
“Bring us the menu as usual,” Pollux finalized casually.
I was getting used to being called Luna. I also understood after Castor told me yesterday that I had that nickname because I was Castor and Pollux’s mate. In their world, Castor and Pollux are the supreme leaders, whose orders must be obeyed.
Castor explained all about their rules of interaction. I began to familiarize myself so that I could start my new life better. Realizing that werewolves don’t always kill humans, I was able to calm down after Castor told me.
I saw some dishes that I didn’t know the name of. I could only smell their tantalizing smell. Without wanting to linger, I immediately picked up a fork and knife and started cutting the meat on the plate.
“Would you like to taste the wine, Godiva?”
I knew that Pollux was trying to break the tension between us, but I didn’t care. I just shook my head because, in reality, I had an allergy to alcohol. When I was 18 years old, during a school graduation celebration, I drank a cocktail, and my whole body itched all night. From then on, I never drank alcohol again.
“Then what do you want to drink?”
“Just mineral water.”
I picked up a footed glass filled with mineral water and showed Pollux I was drinking the water. I continued with my lunch even though I knew that Pollux had been watching me. Our eyes met occasionally, but I quickly averted my gaze from him.
It was only during one last mouthful that I saw someone I recognized walking in the garden in front of me. I saw a perfectly dressed Kayleigh walking with a man I had never seen before.
I hadn’t had time to lower my head and face so that Kayleigh would see me. I was so panicked that I nudged the glass of wine that I had left alone. As a result, my clothes spilled wine and left a red stain on the fabric.
“Shit!”
“What is it, Godiva?” Pollux asked me.
“I’m fine. I have to go to the toilet to clean this up.”
I rushed to the restroom. A waitress told me where the restroom was, and I immediately followed the direction she pointed. As soon as I reached the restroom, I roughly pulled out as much toilet paper as I could and moistened it a little with water to wipe the stains on my clothes.
What was Kayleigh doing here? I guessed at the possibilities while washing my hands. I gasped then at the sound of the toilet door opening loudly. I saw Kayleigh looking at me with a smirk that made me sick.
“Oh, you’re being a bitch now, huh? What’s going to happen when my mom finds out that her innocent nephew is making a lot of money now?”
“I don’t want to fight with you, Kayleigh. Let me go!”
I tried to walk around to get away from her, but she blocked my way once again. I raised my head and approached her. I had to end my feud with her if I wanted to be free of her.
“I said step aside or I’ll…”
“Will what?”
“This…”
I pushed her body with all my might to get her to move. I’ve wanted to do this for a long time, and maybe this is the right time to show her I’m not weak. Before I had even taken a step towards the door, I felt the pain in my head from Kayleigh’s hand pulling my hair.
I gripped her wrist firmly so that she would immediately remove her hand from my hair. I dug my nails in as deep as I could until she finally gave in and removed her hands. I could hear her whimpering in pain, but she managed to pull my sleeve until it was torn.
It wasn’t just a tear in her arm; even my underwear had to be exposed because of Kaylegh’s hand pulling. I was hooked, so I approached her and raised my hands in the air. Once again, the toilet door opened, and I saw Pollux coming into our midst.
“Godiva, are you alright?” Pollux’s voice sounded louder than usual.
“Ah, so he’s your target.” She smirked. “Do you know, sir? Godiva is not as good a woman as you think; she’s a gold digger.”
I saw Pollux’s reaction, which instantly turned calm. He walked over to Kayleigh and touched her chin. I watched the two people in front of me with different expressions. Where Pollux was grinning, Kayleigh was blinking her eyes a few times.
“Do you think my wealth will run out even if she drains it? You stupid humans! You and your silly antics are making me more and more rich.”
I saw clearly that Pollux’s eyes turned yellow, and his one hand that was in the air turned elongated with blackened nails. One of Pollux’s index fingers scratched Kayleigh’s cheek and drew a line of blood.
“Argghh… monster!”
I took a step back. Even I felt terrified to see Pollux like that. Kayleigh closed her eyes and collapsed to the floor.
“Who is she?” asked Pollux as he returned his large hand to its original size.
I was still shocked by my vision and speechlessness. I felt my body become hot and cold, with blood rushing through my veins. I couldn’t feel my legs anymore.
The last thing I saw was Kayleigh’s body lying on the floor and Pollux walking over to me. My vision instantly darkened, and I didn’t feel anything anymore.
