Malcolm didn’t speak.
But he knew that Rosalind would never take Ulric to the cemetery.

On the way back to Easthaven Bay, the car was filled with a heavy atmosphere.
Except for Jake and Floyd’s playful noises, the two of them hardly said a word.
In fact, Ulric not only prepared things for the memorial but also bought a fine burial plot, thinking that if Rosalind was willing, she could move her mother there for burial.
But it was clear that she didn’t even want to let him see her mother’s tombstone.
The car stopped at the entrance of Easthaven Bay. Ulric got out first with Floyd in his arms, followed by Rosalind and Jake.
Rosalind wanted to talk to Ulric, but seeing that he didn’t look back, she swallowed her words.
He took the two children to play, leaving her alone in the living room.
Rosalind knew that Ulric wasn’t someone without a temper. He was just holding back, not wanting to lose his temper with her.
Sitting on the sofa, she took out her phone and glanced at the calendar.
Time had passed quickly, and now only half of it was left. Rosalind didn’t want to waste this last bit of time on quarrels or sulking.
She changed into home clothes and personally went to the kitchen to make a few dishes.
When Ulric came out, he saw Rosalind sitting alone at the dining table, smiling at him.
In that instant, all his gloom and irritation seemed to dissipate.
He could never do anything about Rosalind.
“It’s been a long time since I cooked. Would you do me the honor of trying it?” Rosalind handed him the cutlery.
As Ulric pulled out a chair and sat down, he noticed the wound on her hand. It wasn’t big. She must have accidentally cut herself while chopping vegetables.
She really hadn’t been in the kitchen for a long time, so she was quite rusty.
“Don’t do this again next time,” Ulric sighed and got up to fetch the first aid kit.
Rosalind obediently let him bandage her wound and rested her cheek on his arm. “Please don’t be angry anymore, okay?”
“I’m not angry.”
“But your face says you’re unhappy!” Rosalind blinked at him. “Smile. It’s not handsome like this.”
Ulric sighed helplessly, put away the first aid kit, then returned and carried her horizontally into the bedroom.
He didn’t turn on the light but instead pressed Rosalind onto the bed. The afternoon sunlight wasn’t strong. It filtered through the window and fell on her delicate face.
Their eyes met for a long time before he sighed.
“I’m not angry. I’m just confused.”
“Don’t think about it.” Anyway, in half a month, he would eventually know everything.
“Do you blame me for not being by your side when your mother passed away?” Ulric felt deeply troubled by this thought. “I swear, I really didn’t know about your mother’s passing.”
If he had known, he wouldn’t have left Rosalind no matter what!
“I don’t blame you. It’s been so long since then. You don’t need to dwell on it.” No matter how tough it had been, she had managed to get through those days, and now she simply didn’t want to revisit them.
“Rosalind, promise me that no matter what happens, we’ll face it together.”
She looked into Ulric’s eyes for a long time before speaking softly, “Who is more important in your heart, me or your mother?”
“That’s not something you can compare.”
“What if one day there is an irreconcilable conflict between me and your mother? So deep that it can’t be resolved? What would you choose?”
Ulric’s eyes flickered slightly. His thin lips parted. “I won’t let you suffer.”
