Jayson’s POV.
“Who am I?” He said with a grin as he looked at me. “Am I scaring you already? Come on, you don’t have to be scared of me.” He smirked as he looked at me.
Seeing his broad smile that spread widely on his face did nothing than to piss me off.
“I know. I know this look, Jayson. I know you don’t find me cool yet, and trust me, it’s fine. I am not your enemy here.” He shrugged as he looked at me.
“You expect me to trust you?” He chuckled as he looked at me. “Right from the start, all you have done is put me in denial. How do you expect me to believe you, or even trust you over my own family?” I scoffed as I stared at him.
“Fine!!” He sneered as he looked away for a while. “But…” He said as he paused, saying nothing further again, rather than staring at me.
I turned around as I looked at him. “What again? Haven’t you messed up the last few hours of my day? How long do you intend doing it? How long do you plan on ruining my day?” I scowled angrily as I looked at him.
One thing I grew to hate about him was how he maintained those broad smiles like everything is fine.
“I only took Mason to let you know that I am truly one step ahead of you, and anyone who dares come in between me and my plans. I have waited so long for this day as well and then, you were out of the blues, trying to interfere with my plan.” He snapped as he rolled his eyes.
“If you were a pin in my ass, I would have had my men end Mason’s life. You go about saying ‘family first’ but then, I also have Dahlia and she is the reason why I am back to New Kingston. We spent years running but for how long? The time is here and now, and you know what is amazing?” He chuckled softly as he furrowed his eyebrows.
“I have a pack that is willing to die for me. Within my time as their Alpha, I have been more than good to them. They are my family. And maybe, you might break me down, but don’t think you can break the pack apart.” He sneered as he looked at me.
I could feel the confidence he had as he spoke.
“And for Chicago.” He smirked as he walked down to where I stood.
Mason quickly came in between me and Collins as he was blocking Collins from coming anymore closer than he was already.
He raised his eyebrows as he looked at Collins. He smirked as he turned to me, “Oh, nice try, boy!” He said as he patted Mason’s shoulder.
“An hour ago, you were completely nothing. Standing here to defend him is such folly. I get it, okay? You feel loyal to him like you owe him your life, but you know what I learnt? The moment you die, life goes on, and you are forgotten. And not even this day, will he remember.” Collins scowled as he chuckled mockingly before pulling backwards.
“As for Chicago, my friend or, soon to be ally, you have a huge present. And when it comes to New Kingston, I wonder what will happen.” He said with a smile on his face. “New Kingston might fall and also, ties shall be broken. The question should be, ‘Who exactly is in Chicago and what relationship do I have with the person?’ Okay?” He said with a smile on his face as he turned around.
I couldn’t even utter a single word to him right now, because I couldn’t deny the fact that he was really the mysterious guy.
“Chicago? Who is in Chicago?” I mumbled to myself as I looked at his back.
He turned around the moment I was close to the door. “Won’t you love to look good tonight? You look a little bit messed up, okay?” He said as I saw blonde hair, a young boy who shouldn’t be above 20 years stepped out with a pair of clothes.
“Have at it, Jayson.” He insisted as Mason took the clothes.
We quickly changed and then headed out.
“I need a ride down to the banquet.” He said as he lit his cigarette. He looked at me as he smirked. “You know, my vehicle is still in the woods.” He muttered.
“Okay then. Hop in!!” I said with a frown.
There was nothing I could do. And throughout the drive back to the Bohen’s pack house, I just couldn’t get my head off from Chicago.
I still had my head spinning through different questions. Questions I couldn’t answer. “What is he hiding in Chicago?” “And why is he telling me that?” “What is my relationship with whoever is in Chicago, and what is his relationship too?” “Or wait? Is he just bluffing?” I furrowed my eyebrows as I turned to where he sat.
He was completely calm and relaxed as he kept on smoking his cigarette, and reading the magazine that has been lying down on the car seat for weeks now.
Mason on the other hand was driving at a fast pace, as we were still far from the pack house. “Can you speed a little bit?” I shrugged as I couldn’t go on seating next to Collins.
“The party already started, Jay!!” Grace fired angrily at me the moment I answered her call. “I should have known better, guess you are on your way out of New Kingston again.” She slammed as she ended the call, not giving me a chance to even explain myself.
We pulled in and the three of us walked into the pack house, they had granted him permission because he was with me and the moment we walked into the pack house, every single eye fell on me.
“Jay?” I heard a familiar voice as I turned around.
And I saw the last face I never wanted to see right now. I maintained a straight face as I remained unfazed.
“Father?” I said, trembling before him.
