Collins’ POV.
“The only path you spoiled was getting into the fun even before it started.” I said as I rolled my eyes. “Maybe, next time you can stop being too curious, Holmes.” I said as I squatted down, mounting more pressure on his right fingers, causing him to groan.
“And… ahem.” I cleared my throat as I smirked. “You mentioned tearing me from limb to limb. Isn’t that not too generous, Jayson?” I scoffed as I looked at him.
And I could feel my wolf jumping in excitement in our joint victory.
“Happens that I am always one step ahead. Zach Holmes will be coming in today and alongside, three of your siblings who least expect you to be alive, Violet Holmes, Claire Holmes and your diabolic, psychopathic, younger brother, David Holmes.” I mentioned their names as I looked away, leaving him to his own bewilderment.
He went numb completely as he looked at me.
“Surprised?” I chuckled. “You don’t have to be, okay?” I snapped as I looked at him. “Actually, my beta knows his job pretty well. And, I’m yet to decide your fate because you might ruin my time at the banquet and I won’t want that, you see?” I snapped as I looked at him.
I frowned my face as I got up, pulling away my shoe from his right fingers.
“You don’t have to worry, man. If I kill you, I will send your final regards to Emilia Eriksson too. You see, I am caring and considerate to pathetic werewolves.” I scowled as I looked at him.
I watched his eyes go wild in terror as he gulped in his saliva. He furrowed his eyebrows in disbelief as he looked at me before exhaling heavily.
“You actually needed that.” I scoffed as I returned back to the chair I have been sitting down on, since we started our unfriendly conversation.
“To save your energy, I have been detailing every single thing about the founding families and you know, if it falls in the wrong hands, I don’t think they will ever make it out alive.” I said as I rolled my eyes.
I crossed my left leg on my right leg as I took out my white handkerchief, then I wiped off the droplets of sweat on my forehead.
“You could get up and come sit down so that we can talk things through. Or, you can use the door.” I snapped as I looked at him. “I have nothing to hide but you have something to hide and what if I tell you that I have answers to your question? One question, one quest. I know why you are here.” I said with a broad smile on my face as I watched him get up from the floor.
The floor made a creaking sound as he got up. He dusted his shirt as he looked at me for a while.
I could see the fears in his eyes, fears that came with a strong refusal as well, but then, I could see the side that wanted answers.
“And why do you think I am here?” He said in a defensive tone as he stood firmly on the floor as he looked right into my eyes.
“You should know better.” I scowled as I rolled my eyes. “Can you not make this anymore boring, Jayson?” I snapped. “At least, tell me one thing with your mouth. I can’t go on and on bursting your bubbles to your bewilderment.” I shrugged as I looked at him.
“Okay, fine.” He said as he lowered his head for a while before raising his head again as he looked at me. “I came here to avenge the death of my son, Pedro.” He confessed.
I felt my wolf sprawling in complete shock as I heard him mention Pedro’s name. I never figured out Pedro was in any way related to Jayson.
“Pedro?” I gasped out within as I maintained calmness. “How is this even possible?” I furrowed my eyebrows as I tried fixing the puzzle together.
For two years since I started stalling, I never thought of digging into Pedro’s history because he had a perfect family. I raised my eyebrows as I looked at him and looking at him now, I saw the familiarity that was now striking in.
“Fuck it!” I cursed within as I looked at him.
“Oh! I see, Pedro.” I said as I looked at him like I wasn’t shocked.
“Yeah. Everyday I hate myself for leaving New Kingston. I hate myself for never being there for him and not even Emilia knows about him. She believes our son is dead but never knew all along, he grew up to be that perfect young man.” He groaned as tears swelled up in his eyes.
“Guess you are just a dad poor at parenting.” I shrugged as I forced out a smile.
“You didn’t know that. Did you?” He scowled as he looked at me. “It’s obvious, it’s written all over your face.” He said as he chuckled softly.
“I… umm.” I smiled as I looked at him.
“Are you smiling?” He cursed angrily as he frowned his face, then he picked up his coat from the chair and he walked towards the door.
“You know you don’t have to leave like this?” I got up from the chair as I looked at him.
“You know? We can’t ever be a team because we have two different reasons why we are back to New Kingston and I won’t let you harm my family.” He cursed as he looked at me before turning back as he walked down to the door.
“There you go again, family first.” I chuckled. “You can trust me with your secrets.” I scowled as I frowned.
He turned back as he looked at me. “Go fuck yourself!!” He slammed angrily as he turned back as he held the doorknob, about to open the door.
“And what if I tell you I know your son’s killer?” I said strongly as he paused immediately.
