Collins’ POV.
“Who are you?” Jayson furrowed his eyebrows as he looked at me who was neatly seated down directly opposite him.
“Come on!” Collins smirked as he looked at Jayson. “You look scared. Anything to hide?” He chuckled softly as he said calmly, still maintaining eye contact with Jayson who couldn’t get his eyes off him yet.
“I should be asking you.” Jayson responded coldly as he looked at me.
I had no better option than to wear a broad smile on my face. Letting him know that I had my fears was the last thing I could ever do now.
“Well, I have nothing to hide.” I scoffed as I got up from the wooden chair I have been sitting down on. “You know, I must commend you, Jay… Jayson Holmes.” I said in a pause intentionally, as I walked down to where Jayson was seated.
“You gave it your best shot but you should know, I am always one step ahead.” I smirked as I looked at Jayson.
I furrowed my eyebrows as I looked away at the dusty table. The cottage was pretty old and abandoned and not minding the fact that I always came from time to time to have some quiet time here, it still couldn’t look any better than it looked now.
“Tracking me down was a smart move and also, I must say, Jayson, a foolish move too.” I snarled this time around as I picked up a pen knife from the table.
I had pulled it out from the jar since I dropped here.
“You see, this is a pen knife and for months now, I have been making sure it remains in a jar of vervain and wolfsbane. So, every cut you receive will be fatal, trust me, man.” I said as I rubbed the blade of the knife, intentionally hurting him a bit.
Every part the blade touched on his skin left a red mark as it was burning his skin.
He groaned as he shut his eyes. “I was wondering, why would a man be so interested in the founding families business. And then, it crossed my mind, Massachusetts, five years ago.” Jayson scowled as he maintained his eyes at the cabinet.
“Ohh! I expected you to know that, because I came to realize you are the curious one. Holmes!!” I said with so much emphasis on Jayson’s surname.
“And… umm, it’s that time of the year again when all the founding families come together as well as those related to them by marriage or pledge. I was asking, why would the supreme Alpha of New Kingston run a pack that appears like a secret cult of criminals. Do you have an idea?” I chuckled as I turned back to Holmes.
One thing I couldn’t mess up here was being vulnerable. There were many questions as to why he was here, and I was now more than interested in knowing his enemies.
“You know, whatever it is that you think you are planning on doing, you better stop. I know the founding families, they won’t easily let you in. The moment they see you as a threat to their family, they will break you. They will all come for you and then, you won’t have any option than running away, because it’s either you die or you die.” He scowled as he chuckled softly.
He looked me right into my eyes as he wore a broad smile on his face. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you, boy.” He spat as he looked at me.
I exhaled sharply as I walked down to where he was, then I squatted down. “You know, that is the exact reason why I am here. I have nothing to lose.” I said as I rolled my eyes.
I pushed in the pen knife in his right knee, making him groan bitterly as he grabbed my hand. “You may be at an advantage, but don’t dare me, boy. I will tear you from limb to limb, and I will take the one thing you love so much, Dahlia!!” He cursed bitterly as his eyes glistened with rage.
“Dahlia?” I gasped as I stood up, pulling out the blade from him.
“Who told you about Dahlia?” I asked him as I frowned.
“Oh!” He chuckled softly as he stared at me. “Surprised?” He scowled as he looked at me.
“Yeah, Mason shouldn’t be underestimated. You have managed to lure me and move your sister away, but how long, boy? Sooner or later, I will get my hands on her and have you asked yourself? What will happen when those boys eventually find out that Dahlia, the only person who can send them to jail, is still alive?” He scowled as he looked at me.
He got up from the chair as he looked at me. “And yeah, I am Jayson Holmes. Holmes!!” He repeated and I could feel the emphasis he placed on his surname.
I remained silent for a while, as I couldn’t believe my ears. I guess I wasn’t a step ahead completely this time around.
“I know. Holmes!!” I scoffed, pulling myself up together again as I turned around.
I looked at the door for a while as the room went silent for a while, and I turned swiftly as I gave him a dirty punch on his face, causing him to fall to the ground as blood gushed out from his nose and mouth.
“Fuck!!” He cursed angrily as he raised his head as he looked at me.
I could hear his heart race fast and his breath as well. I looked right into his eyes like I was searching deep down his soul.
I hated one thing and that was the leverage he now had on me. I shook off my head as I smiled.
“I see, nice one. But that isn’t a leverage after all.” I chuckled softly as I knocked it off.
“Either way, Dahlia was going to attend the banquet.” I scowled as I walked closer to him as I pinned his right fingers with the tip of my shoe.
