Rosalind took a good while to come to terms with the reality after hanging up the phone.
Tilda and Johnny… It was really hard to imagine them together.
Ulric stood up, walked over to her, and pulled her into his arms. “Don’t worry. Johnny is serious.”
Rosalind sighed, “The main thing is that Tilda has sacrificed so much for me over the years. I want to do something for her, but she doesn’t need money or help. I feel really guilty because it seems like the only thing I can do is protect her from getting hurt.”
“If Johnny dares to bully Tilda, I won’t let him off,” Ulric smiled. “Jake and Floyd are our children, so the favor we owe her is something we should repay together.”
Rosalind looked up at him. “Will Johnny treat Tilda well?”
“Johnny has put in a lot of effort to pursue Tilda. As for what happens next… Rosalind, I can’t guarantee anything.”
No one can predict the future, not even Ulric.
“I’m not asking them to spend their lives together. I just hope that if they do break up someday, it won’t be because Johnny broke Tilda’s heart.”
“In that case, I definitely won’t forgive Johnny.”
Rosalind smiled and hooked her arms around his neck. “Would you break off your friendship with Johnny for me?”
Ulric’s thin lips curved slightly, without hesitation. “Yes.”
“If he heard that, he’d definitely jump up and scold you for valuing love over friendship!”
“He might have scolded me for that in the past, but I don’t think he would now.”
“Hmm?”
Ulric smiled.
Having someone he loved made all the difference compared to when he didn’t.
…
Just as Tilda hung up Rosalind’s call, she saw two missed calls from Johnny.
This man… why was he so clingy?
“I’m on my way to your parents’ house now.”
As soon as the call connected, Johnny’s voice came through. His tone was light and excited.
“I haven’t told my parents yet.”
“Didn’t we agree yesterday? I gave you a day!”
Tilda thought for a moment and quickly got out of bed. “You’re not bringing your parents along, are you?!”
She vaguely remembered Johnny saying he would bring his parents along yesterday.
“No, so you can’t say I’m forcing you.” Johnny had initially planned to bring them but decided against it because it felt too much like forcing her to agree to marry him. He thought it better to give Tilda some more time. “It’s just me today. I bought gifts for your parents.”
“I haven’t told my parents about Howard yet…”
Tilda found it odd that her parents hadn’t asked about Howard’s injury since she came home!
“No need to tell them. I gave that man a sum of money to tell his parents that he got injured by accident and that it had nothing to do with you,” Johnny chuckled. “Don’t worry. Your parents won’t know what happened. Even if they hear about his injury, they’ll think he was just careless.”
“you can’t just throw money at the problem like that!”
“Why not? Isn’t making money meant to solve problems?”
Tilda tugged at her lips.
Well, he wasn’t wrong! At least this way, her parents wouldn’t blame her. She breathed a sigh of relief.
No need to make up a story to lie to her parents!
“How much did you give Howard?” she then asked.
