Alicia’s POV
“Good morning, Logan!” Amelia greeted him as she dropped the rag she was holding. She walked down to the table he had occupied as she held her notepad in her hand, ready to take down their order.
I raised my head and I couldn’t help but wonder why he was still looking at me. The moment our eyes met, he quickly moved his eyes away as he looked at Amelia now.
“Just coffee!!” He responded coldly as he tilted his lips.
Amelia returned to the counter as she arranged the coffee he had ordered. Within a few minutes, he was done and he got up from his chair after dropping his bill on the tray.
“Alicia, you are coming with me!!” He snapped as he looked at me.
Before I could even give him a response, he was gone. “Is he okay?” Amelia asked me in a whisper as she looked at me. “He looks cold. Did one of his numerous girlfriends break his heart?” She chuckled softly as she looked at me.
“You can continue with your work.” I snapped as I rolled my eyes before picking up my handbag.
It happened to be a long drive down to the office as for the first time, he remained completely silent.
I kept looking at him at intervals, and it was obvious that something wasn’t right.
His phone rang as he picked it up. I was able to see that it was a call from Owen. And to my surprise, he ended the call as he turned on airplane mode after Owen had called him twice after the first one he had declined.
“Is he okay?” I could clearly hear Amelia’s voice echoing in my head. We finally got to BOECH as Othello parked in the parking lot.
“Heyy, Logan?”
We both turned back together as I saw Owen walking down towards us.
“Good morning, Owen.” I greeted with a smile.
“Good morning, Alicia.” He responded, reciprocating back my huge smile I had forced out.
“You can leave us here!! Go tidy up my office and also, check if there are any impending tasks to get done.” He said as he looked at me.
He had this straight face on, making it difficult as to knowing what exactly was going through his mind.
For me, it was strange. This wasn’t the Logan I had met a few days into graduation in highschool, or the Logan I had come to know of since I started working as his personal assistant.
I nodded my head as I left them immediately, without saying a single word.
And as I walked away, before I walked into the building, I turned back to have a look at them but then, they were completely gone. Othello was walking towards the building too and Owen’s car wasn’t there anymore.
I wasn’t ready for any conversation as I quickly walked into the office before Othello got to where I was standing.
“Really?” I queried the moment I got to the UI/UX section.
Peterson, Patricia, and Jack weren’t there. I looked at their neatly arranged work desk as well as their vacant chairs.
I shook my head as I exited the floor to Logan’s office and it was also neatly arranged.
“Hello?”
A husky voice from behind made my heart race as I quickly turned back.
“Hello?” I gasped out as I looked at him.
I knew I had seen him somewhere before but then, I couldn’t recall where exactly. I raised my eyebrows as I looked at him for a while.
He had this broad smile on his face and it was something to make anyone get edgy.
“You must be Alicia Carlson, right?” He said as he looked at me.
“Yes, I am and you are?” I questioned as I couldn’t help the curiosity I now had about who this stranger is.
“Jayson Holmes.” He answered briefly as he looked at me. “Guess this will be the first time we will be meeting personally.” He snapped as he looked at me.
“I… I was wondering how you got to know my name.” I stuttered, trying not to sound harsh or childish but then, ‘how did he know of me?’ I squinted my eyes slightly as I forced out a smile.
“Oh! About that?” He chuckled softly. “Who wouldn’t know you?” He grinned as he looked at me from my head down to my feet and then, upwards again.
“Is he actually doing this?” I groaned, as I felt uneasy with the way he looked at me like he was sizing me up.
“Who wouldn’t know me?” I asked, placing so much emphasis on every single word.
Last I remembered, I wasn’t close to being popular or even noticed by anyone. At least, maybe by people who work under BOECH or the Bohen’s Bureau, and not some complete stranger who I couldn’t say where exactly I had met him before.
“Don’t mind me. Actually, when it comes to picking a personal assistant, it’s always centered around family, because we believe family is strength.” He mumbled as he walked past me.
I quickly turned around as I looked at him. And I still felt uneasy with him being here.
“When Logan had made you his personal assistant, we were all shocked. A common girl who lost her mother years back and a drunk father who happens to act out of place with you when he’s drunk. Multicolored eyes, a lot of backstory here, isn’t it? You are a werewolf yet to transition.” He grinned as he brought out his cigarette, as he lighted it.
I felt vulnerable at this point, as he happens to know every important detail about him. “How does he know about my mother? And even about my drunk father’s ill behavior towards me when he is drunk?” I furrowed my eyebrows as I stared at him.
“Yeah, that look. I get it. I guess the question that follows next is, ‘Who am I?'” He smirked as he looked at me, tilting his lips as he furrowed his eyebrows.
