Alicia’s POV.
“I guess you are really enjoying your time working for Logan as his personal assistant.” Amelia chuckled softly as she looked at me.
I had dropped by at the Cass bar. She had no better choice than to retain her work there. That was the only way to raise some money.
“Enjoying my time as his personal assistant?” I repeated, placing so much emphasis on the ‘assistant’ as I looked at her. “You always seem to have a way when it comes to sarcasm, isn’t it?” I rolled my eyes as I rested on the counter.
She chuckled softly again as she looked at me as she cleaned the cup, getting ready for the work day ahead.
“Oh, Alicia! Don’t be hilarious.” She rolled her eyes before winking at me. “We both know that you two happen to have this little love sparks going on and if there is anyone getting in the way of it, then it’s gonna be you, Alicia.” She snapped as she piled up the clean cups together.
“Can we not go there now, Amelia?” I scowled as I looked at her. “I already told you that I have no interest in him.” I snapped.
“No interest? Are you really sure about that or are you just scared about what might happen to you?” She questioned as she stared at me.
“Why do you always act like you are not aware of who the Bohen’s family is?” I scowled, rolling my eyes as I looked right into her eyes. “And you know what? It’s not just the Bohen after all.” I chuckled painfully as I hit my fingers on the counter, making a rhythmic sound.
“Not just the Bohen’s? What do you mean?” She asked and now, I could see the curiosity that was rapidly consuming her.
“Remember BOECH company?” I asked her and she nodded.
“And what about it?”
“It also belongs to the Bohen’s family and Logan, he will be taking full control of the company soon.”
“What?” She gasped out in shock. “I never for once thought that company belonged to the Bohen’s family.” She snapped, still looking at me in shock.
“Remember their scandal two years ago?” I grinned as I looked at her.
“Same pattern But, BOECH…”
“Stands for Bohen’s Tech Company.” I interrupted her as I smiled. “We have other families as well and when they come together, they are extremely powerful. We have the Willows, they control the media industry which means, we don’t even know half of the story we all thought we knew about the Bohen’s. And also, we have the Eriksson’s, which happens to be the second strongest family and from everything I have been paying attention to, he also has so much influence in Massachusetts, and the Willows are the third powerful family, next to the McKinsey, the fourth powerful family, they keep talking about Helen, which I heard is now in Cleveland working as a lawyer under another deadly Alpha. And then, we have the Millard and Shepherd families, making them the six founding families of New Kingston’s riches.”
I looked at Amelia who was now in full fleshed shock as she couldn’t believe her eyes.
She exhaled sharply as she forced out a smile. “I guess there is a lot we have yet to find out.” She smirked as she rounded up with the cups she was cleaning.
“A whole lot. And talking about these families, the McKinsey’s family has a long history in New Kingston’s judiciary, which means whatever the other families get into, they have nothing to worry about. And for the Millard’s, they play a major role in politics and they have a strong bond with Winterfalls Bryant.”
“Talking about the devil, Jessica was here a few days back and you know what, I intentionally switched places with one of the workers. I know I won’t be so gentle enough not to cause a fight.” She chuckled as I whined.
“And yes, that aside Alicia. You know, working here alone has been more than hell for me. Cassie wouldn’t stop with the comparison, ‘Oh, how I miss my dearest Alicia. Wish she was still here, blah, blah and blah.” She said, mimicking how Cassie spoke.
I could already imagine Cassie saying it. We both chuckled softly.
“I thought working under The Eleven would be the best step ever but here I am, still under Madam. Cassie’s bar and attending to the locals here.” She groaned as she looked at me.
“Trust me when I say, ‘It’s a different kind of hell for me.” she whined as she proceeded to clean the counter with a wet towel.
“So, talking about Logan. How has he been?” She asked as she paused for a while as she locked her eyes with mine. “Any disrespectful behavior yet?” She continued.
“As the days go by, I can say there is something going on which I think I am left out of. I could see how intense their conversation was but then, I couldn’t eavesdrop because I don’t even have my wolf yet.” I groaned as I rolled my eyes in annoyance.
“They all seem to enjoy clubbing and today being Friday, I know he is going to force me out there again.” I scowled as I looked away.
“Damn! I wish I was the one. You have the best job ever, girl.” She snapped as she smiled broadly. “At least, you get to the club every Friday and here you are, complaining? Oh, Alicia!!” She said, rolling her eyes.
Before I could say another word, Amelia had signaled me to keep quiet and the moment I turned back, I saw Logan.
Othello as usual was walking behind him. He raised his head slowly as he looked at me.
I couldn’t even utter a single word to him. For no reason, I felt my heart beating faster than usual, making my cheeks fluster.
“What the f*ck is he doing here?” I groaned as I lowered my head, biting my lower lip.
