Elena’s POV
“Are you sure you saw him?” She asked again as she looked at me.
“Nah, maybe I am just overthinking things.” I chuckled softly as I looked at her.
“Sure?” She asked again. “I know you saw something. Maybe we could just ask him when we get to work. Because there is absolutely no way I would believe that he is actually the new owner of this place.” She chuckled.
I knew she was only trying to ease the whole negative and tense mood right now but then, that wasn’t what I wanted.
“I guess he is a really mysterious guy.” I snapped as she chuckled softly.
“We have an hour and 45 minutes left to prepare and get to work. Hope you are keeping to time?” I sneered as I looked at her.
“Why can’t I just have a day off?” She groaned as she pouted her eyes out.
“Maybe you should consider getting laid by Clark then.” I scoffed as I rolled my eyes.
“Heyyy, come on.” She laughed lightheartedly as she looked at me. “But then, on a second thought, that wouldn’t be a bad idea.” She winced as she looked at me.
“Carry your dramatic self back to your house and go have your bath. We will be sticking with bread and scrambled eggs with hot tea. The weather is cold and trust me, I’m freezing.” I mumbled as I looked at her.
She got up from the chair as she walked down to where I stood in the kitchen, then she embraced me warmly.
She rubbed my arms lightly, caressing them gently.
I loved to take in her scent. It never dies and within the five years of staying here in New Kingston, I count every single day as a blessing, waking up to know that I had Marie with me.
She has been the sister I never thought I would have, the best friend I never ever believed I would ever have, and that was why I never stopped her from being Kanu’s and Kiana’s godmother.
And deep down, I wished things would never change. She was the only reason that made my stay here in New Kingston this adventurous, and I wanted to have many more of it but then, whenever I remember the fact that Clark was now in the picture, I felt sooner or later, we might end up getting separated.
I arranged the scrambled eggs as I covered them, and after that I rushed into the bathroom to shower, and within half an hour, I was done and neatly dressed.
I wanted something smoking hot today at least.
“Damn! Damn!! Damn!!!” Marie gasped out the moment she stepped in. “Don’t tell me you plan to seduce the entire male staff today?” She chuckled softly as she looked at my red, sleeveless gown that stopped right beneath my knees, and not just that, the red gown exposed my full shape.
I had applied very light makeup on my face.
“You know what I’m picturing?” Marie chuckled softly as she looked at me.
I rolled my eyes as I looked at her. “I know it’s something stupid.” I scoffed as I smiled at her.
“At least, not something completely stupid. It could have some atom of truth in it, who knows?” She snapped as she got closer to me, as she adjusted the gown on me.
“Wow. I never knew you had something this hot in your wardrobe.” She commented as she looked at the gown.
She made me do a 360 turn as she kept on smiling. “I am still having that image in my head.” She chuckled softly. “But imagine going out on a smoky hot date with the mysterious guy.” She mumbled as we both laughed.
“You can’t be serious.” I rolled my eyes as I walked down to the kitchen to get the bread, scrambled eggs and the beverages.
“How many times do I have to tell you that I don’t see myself going out with him.” I scowled.
“And how sure are you about that?” Marie scoffed as she sat down on the dining chair, as she untied the bread wrap.
“But… but you know he is always hot. Has good height, beautiful hazel eyes, light brown freckles and you know, I loved the way he curled up his hair yesterday and also, haven’t you noticed how perfect his lips are?” She said with a blush.
I rolled my eyes. “Don’t tell me you are already falling for him too?” I scoffed as I looked at her.
“You mean, ‘falling for your man?’ How is that even possible?” She scoffed as she giggled.
I remained quiet as I was tired of trying so hard to defend myself.
“You know, I saw how nervous you were yesterday when we went to the bar and if we had stayed longer, I knew your cheeks would have gotten red.” She scoffed as she looked at me.
“You are not serious.” I rolled my eyes as I prepared the tea and we proceeded with our breakfast.
Her phone beeped twice and the next thing that followed was a broad smile that quickly enveloped her face like she just won a lottery.
“OMG!!” She gasped out as she kept staring at her phone. “He texted me. Clark texted me!!” She screamed at the top of her voice.
I raised my eyebrows as I wondered what text he had sent to make her this excited. I looked away as I continued with my breakfast.
“Hello, beautiful? I will be driving by your street in an hour. Get dressed, I’m coming to pick you up.”
She read it out loud as I watched her cheek flustered with emotions.
“What?” I gasped out as I looked at her. “I guess I should be on my way already.” I mumbled as I shifted my seat backward, ready to stand up, but then she held me back.
“You are definitely tagging along.” She smiled broadly.
I groaned as I couldn’t say no to her. I couldn’t go on eating as I had lost my appetite for it.
