Book:The Alpha's Hot Chase After Divorce Published:2025-2-25

Elena’s POV
“You won’t believe it.” She said excitedly as she crashed down on the sofa next to the window. “He asked that I get your boyfriend’s record for the day.” She whined as she stared at me.
“Boyfriend?” I chuckled softly. “Did you ever give me a boyfriend?” I scowled. “And when did I even mention that I was interested in having a boyfriend?” I queried this time around as I looked at her.
“Oh! Come off it. You know, you can’t pretend forever.” She scoffed as she looked at me. “I know you know who I am talking about. So, I will continue with my beautiful ever after story.” She said as she chuckled softly and excitedly.
I stared at her for a while as I could only see her mouth moving, and how she moved her hands because of the whole narration she was making.
I still couldn’t understand how she fell so deeply for Clark. But then, I couldn’t come in between whatever she believes that she is having with Clark.
I hated the fact that the only lady I had gotten as my best friend was now falling in love with my ex husband’s Beta, and no matter how hard I try not to make a big issue out of it, I still hated it.
“Are you even listening to me?” She poked me, bringing me back to reality.
“Umm… yeah, why not?” I covered up immediately as I forced out a smile and she went ahead telling me her love story.
“And guess what?” She paused finally as she looked at me.
“How do you expect me to know? And also, you know I’m poor with guessing.” I groaned as I looked at her.
“Come on, at least give it a try.” She groaned as she looked at me. “If you have been listening to me all along, at least guessing won’t be that hard for you.” She scowled as she shifted closer to me.
I looked at her and forced out a smile. How could I let her know that I wasn’t even listening to her in the first place? I was getting bored with her daily stories of Clark because the more she got closer to Clark, the more room she would only create for Rex to try getting back to me and that was one thing I never wanted.
But then, I couldn’t let my messed up life ruin her chances of being in love. After all I could tell that he was also in love with her.
“Okay, fine.” She snapped as she rolled her eyes. “He drove me back home last night and trust me, I felt like my skin was about to explode, as I felt all my nerves reacting to the gentle song he was playing and the car was lit, oh my!!” She smiled, giggling like a baby as she looked at me. “It was a beautiful ride.” She said excitedly as she looked at me.
“You are not just serious.” I sighed as I got up. “And I hope you didn’t kiss him?” I scoffed as I looked at her.
“Kiss him?” She gasped. “Hell no. If I did, trust me, by now I wouldn’t have to worry about getting to work in the next 2 hours, because just a kiss from him and I will be pregnant already.” She chuckled.
I got up as I walked into the kitchen to tidy up the dishes, and I turned to look at Marie who was currently in cloud 9 with her imaginations.
“Talking about your boyfriend, damn, he is really a weird ass one.” She finally made a comment about him.
I raised my eyebrows as I looked at her.
“Oh! Don’t mind my choice of words.” She chuckled softly. “I only meant he is completely different.” She widened her lips in a broad smile as she looked at me.
“What about him?” I asked as I was curious to know more about him.
“I shook him last night and his palm, they were too soft and not just soft, it was cold too.” She muttered, as she furrowed her eyebrows like she was trying to attach a meaning to it.
“Oh! About that?” I said with a smile. “I noticed that too the first day he handed me my files. Guess he spends most time freezing himself in an air-conditioned room.” I chuckled softly.
“I hope so. But, what I don’t get is, why is he working in The Eleven? He doesn’t look poor.” She whined. “Oh! Aside from his old motorcycle.” She chuckled softly, making me laugh too.
“Did you see him today?” I asked.
I couldn’t keep on harboring the question in my head any longer. I still found it strange as to how he had disappeared like he wasn’t even there in the first place.
“See him? This morning?” She asked as she raised her eyebrows. “How do you expect me to see him? Or did he spend the night here?” She laughed in a mocking tone.
“Can you not start now?” I furrowed my eyebrows. “I was only asking because…”
“Don’t tell me you had a ‘too-realistic’ dream of him being here?” She had cut me halfway, only provoking me the more.
“Do you even think I can date him?” I scowled as I looked at her. “I still find him mysterious. Like he has no flaws. That’s definitely impossible.” I scowled as I looked at her.
“Come on, there you go again. Why do you end up judging kindness as evil?” She scowled.
“Anyways, I saw him coming out from block 14.” I quickly diverted the conversation back to the initial conversation we were having about him.
“Block 14?” Marie furrowed her eyebrows like she was shocked. “That is the landlord’s block and last time I checked, he died months ago, and that place had been left locked.” She squinted her eyes as she stared at me.
I paused for a while as I realized that was actually true. “Then, what was he doing there?” I furrowed my eyebrows as I whispered to myself.
