CLEVELAND. Connor & Co Real Estate Firm.
Helen’s POV.
I’m in a great mood as I walked into the Connor & Co Real Estate Firm. And as I walked into the building, dressed in my white shirt and black skirt that held my thighs well, and a sleeveless black jacket that was well fitted, I could feel this fast rushing sensation that was spreading through my spines.
There was absolutely no way I could deny the fact that I was already falling head over heels for Kingsley.
I proceeded to the elevator as I walked in and luckily for me, I was the only one in the elevator. I couldn’t stop thinking about yesterday’s night and whenever I remember how gentlemanly he was, I couldn’t help but fall deeply for him.
And whenever I had such current passing through my body, it was as a result of excessive excitement. “But why am I so excited about him?” I groaned lightly as I bit my lower lip.
It was just five days here in Cleveland and I couldn’t even at least control the feelings that were paving a way in. Not like I wasn’t trying but then, it was just totally impossible.
“Was he only being nice to me because I was sent by Alphonso Bohen? Or is he acting all nice because he also had an interest in me?” I groaned as I remained confused as I looked at my caricature reflection on the elevator.
The elevator dinged open and the last person I was expecting walked in.
“Good morning, boss.” I greeted as I lowered my head. I couldn’t look at him right now and just no matter how hard I tried, it was impossible.
“Good morning, Helen.” Kingsley greeted as he stood directly next to me, while his guards occupied the other available space.
I still couldn’t understand why he moved with such heavy security. I scanned the few that stood at our front, as I saw their multiple holsters that carried their guns.
“What exactly is he scared of?” I whined as I rolled my eyes a bit towards his direction but then, I stopped halfway as I felt his hot breath on me which meant that he was currently looking at me.
We were eight in total in the elevator and just for one man, six hefty men were protecting him like everyone’s life was tied to his life.
“Hope you had a great night yesterday?” He asked, causing me to raise my head as I looked at him.
“Yeah, I did.” I replied as I quickly looked away.
“I also had a beautiful night.” He went ahead to say. I rolled my eyes as I exhaled sharply. “Thank you for last night, Helen McKinsey.” He said as he looked at me.
It was totally impossible ignoring him. I whined as I raised my head upward and what followed next was a broad smile.
“You are welcome.” I responded as I maintained my smiley face. Surprisingly, he was also going to the lawyer’s mini suite to see our chief lawyer, Kim.
I walked down to my work desk as I sat down, and at the other end was Mr. Kim’s office. I couldn’t tell if he was a South Korean or North Korean man but then, I had the higher guess as him being from North Korea.
He had an American accent and I loved how fast he was when it came to switching between accents. From the American accent to speaking like a typical North Korean man.
“Oh! Kingsley.” He stood up immediately as they both shook hands together. Kingsley sat down as they had a lengthy conversation in which they blocked me from being able to eavesdrop.
I couldn’t go on trying to eavesdrop on their discussion as I continued with what I was doing. And I still felt unsettled as our eyes met at intervals.
“How would father react when he eventually finds out that I am falling gradually in love with Kingsley? Yes, I knew he was older, but then, I couldn’t stop thinking about what it would feel like being next to him all through the night.”
I looked away as I tried focusing on what I had on my desk. But then, at intervals, my mind kept going back to the previous night when he had taken me out for a date as I would call it.
I furrowed my eyebrows as I looked at my laptop, then I remembered how his lips tapped each other gracefully. I shook my head as I got up to walk into the mini sitting room as I went to arrange coffee.
“What is wrong with you, Helen?” I cursed as I rolled my eyes, while I looked at my face in the glass. I exhaled sharply as I sipped the coffee. It burned my tongue as I quickly dropped the cup back on the table, then I drank cold water to ease the sensation.
“Are you okay?” I heard a familiar voice as I turned around to see Kingsley. I rolled my eyes as he was now becoming completely impossible to ignore.
He was just everywhere. “Are you stalking me?” I gasped out before shutting my lips together.
It was too late to take back my words and I saw his smiley face quickly turn to a frown as he looked at me. “Stalking you?” He sneered as he looked at me. “Why would I?” He chuckled softly in a mocking manner as he looked at me sternly.
And right that moment, I was speechless as I was completely out of words. I looked at him as I bit my lower lip, then I felt embarrassed. “What were you even thinking in the first place to make you say such?” I cursed within as I looked at his eyes.
“I… I’m sorry.” I apologized as I looked at him. “Never wanted to say that, but…”
Before I could complete my statement, I felt my heartbeat seize as my eyes went wide as he shut me up with a kiss.
