CLEVELAND.
Connor & Co Real Estate Firm.
Helen McKinsey POV
It was my first day in Cleveland and only one thing brought me down here. And that was to acquire a space in the Connor & Co Real Estate Firm which was currently acquired by one of the most powerful Alphas in Cleveland.
I knew I had little or no chance to get a job under the King’s Real Estate Company, and I had to go for their top rival, Kingsley.
That truth comes to me as I rush into the building, surrounded by somber- looking business men and women.
They were all neatly dressed in expensive clothes and mostly, black and blue suits, both male and female.
I wore something more casual than anyone would have expected. I had my peach flowery gown that stopped right beneath my knees.
With all those very serious looking people, I felt like I was definitely going to lose the job but then, I still had to brace myself as I walked down the vast, open area that had a glass rooftop which was currently under reconstruction.
I stood for a while as I scanned the large building, then I wondered how much effort the new CEO was putting into the company.
“Why would he waste such money to reconstruct a beautiful, existing building?” I chuckled softly as I imagined my life here as a worker.
I walked down gently so as not to mess up the little confidence I had left.
And just as I thought I was doing just fine, I saw people rushing towards the door. And most of them were from the biggest media company in Cleveland, Elite Media.
I turned back to see 5 black Mercedes Maybach drive in, parking at the front of the building and I could hear the flickering, the lights shining bright as the car picked up the reflection from the camera light.
All the men hurriedly stepped down from the cars as they secured the area, securing the entrance of the company and the others, securing the middle Maybach.
And then, I saw a clean black shoe land on the ground, and I could tell that was the boss. And when he stepped out of the car completely, I turned to look at him.
He wore a pinstripe black suit that was slim fitted, as he looked at the building like he was sizing it up, as if he could crush it in his palms.
“Oh! Heavenly mine. He is such a beauty!”
I overheard one of the ladies talk. I turned as I looked at her and her friends as they were already drooling for him.
“I wish he could ask me out.”
“I even heard that ever since he lost his mate, he became cold and lost interest in other women.”
“Oh! Damn, he must have really loved her.”
“I wish he could be mine, because he is my dream man.” Another winced as she held her fingers together, playing with them as she looked at him.
He walked down slowly towards the building.
His black tie, neatly knotted as he walked down and not just that, his security men were all looking like James Bond characters in the popular movie.
They all frowned as they walked behind him and some, in front of him and also, some were at his side. They were heavily protecting him as if he was the prime minister or like they just got an Intel that he was about to be attacked.
I looked at how his suit fitted him properly and yes, I must admit that he was definitely every girl’s dream man.
One of his men had knocked out one of the media team personnel as he wore a long face. The men had their hands connected to each other as their boss finally made it inside the building and few remained outside as they blocked the entrance of the door.
I froze as I saw him approaching where I stood, as we were both in the same section in the building. He was more like some Italian Mafia boss and his rings were heavy on his fingers.
I saw how matured business men bowed before him as he walked down. They were the ones that stretched their hands out for a handshake.
He was still at a distance from where I stood but then, I could feel his strong aura already.
Our eyes met and all I could see was a deadly man you should never dare challenge if you want to keep yourself safe and also, keep those you love out of trouble.
I quickly looked away as I could hear my heartbeat racing like it was about to explode. I groaned bitterly as I walked down to the elevator.
Now, I wished I went to the King’s Real Estate Company as I now believed they would be more friendly. He looked really arrogant and even his security men were more like the devil he looked like, making me doubt if those in the employment section will be friendly in any way.
I took the first three layers of steps that led to the elevator as I wanted to get to the 6th floor where I would get to meet those in charge of employing new staff.
I finally heaved a sigh of relief as I finally met some people who also came for the interview. I exhaled sharply as I forced out a smile. The stainless steel panels part with an elegant ‘ding, and everyone rushed into it at once.
And since I was at the back, I couldn’t make it in as it immediately got filled up with few people the elevator could accommodate.
I groaned as I cursed within, biting my lower lip. “Damn! Damn!!” I panicked as I looked at my wrist watch. “Come on, come on.” I said as I moved to the next elevator.
And the moment I turned back, the few people that moved to the next elevator were now away, back to the other elevator. I raised my eyes as they met with those piercing eyes again.
It was the boss. It was Kingsley. I groaned as I quickly looked away.
“You can let her be.” He said in a husky voice as he looked at the hefty looking security man that was about pushing me off the front of the elevator.
I felt my heart drop.
“Did he just defended me from his security man?” I gasped within as I could not control my emotions as my cheeks got red.
